Hello, I’ve got Enfold v 3.4.7 installed in wordpress for slovenly.com, and it says I’m running the latest version in the backend, but after having a look at your website, I see that clearly isn’t the case. Your theme isn’t in my ThemeForest, probably because I hired a company (artascecreative.com) to customize & install it… around 5 years ago. I’m not sure if they’re still around, so I might need to purchase my own registration for the theme, which is fine by me, as long as I know it will update properly with my customizations intact.
So my question is: if I purchase this theme at https://themeforest.net/item/enfold-responsive-multipurpose-theme/4519990, is there some easy way to update it from v3.4.7 to the latest version, maintaining all of my theme customizations intact?

June 9, 2020 at 1:10 pm #1220835Hi Peter,
Thanks for contacting us!
You should not have any issues at all especially since your previous developers have created a child theme for you. They probably made modifications there, if they have made any.
Envato has updated their API and we have implemented those changes in Enfold 4.5, so any older version of the theme needs manual updating. Please refer to this post – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-update/#update-via-ftp and update the theme via FTP. After that you can refer to this post – https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/#how-to-generate-a-envato-personal-token and generate a Personal Token and insert it in Enfold theme options to receive auto updates.
To be on the safe side, we would recommend you to update the theme on a testing server first. In case you would like us to update the theme for you, please register to our support forum – https://kriesi.at/support/register/, login and post WP admin logins here privately :)

Wordpress in general requires php7 as of recently, and most plugins do too. So you might want to address that issue first.

VictoriaJuly 12, 2020 at 6:12 am #1229741Hi Peter,
I saw your reply here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/slovenly-com-enfold-update/#post-1229499. It would be great if you could stick to posting in one thread so that we can see the history of responses in one place.
The update to the latest version of the theme has to be done manually from the version you are running. You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/.
If you need help with updating then please provide us with FTP login details as well, and verify that you have backups of the site.
Best regards,

Thanks for the update and details. If you have the latest version uploaded already then all you should have to do is to change name of the current parent folder to something like enfold_old, then rename the new parent folder to enfold. After that you will be running the latest version. We can’t do it for you since you didn’t post FTP login details, so if you need help with that then please include that in private with your next reply.

RikardJuly 15, 2020 at 1:52 am #1230478Hi Rikard,
I followed your instructions and I believe I have updated Enfold successfully. BUT, our ARTISTS section is gone. Below, via archive.org, you can see what that looked like:ARTISTS menu:
https://web.archive.org/web/20200513115631/https://www.slovenly.com/artists/example ARTIST PAGE (The Spits):
https://web.archive.org/web/20200513131436/https://www.slovenly.com/artist/the-spits/In my admin backend, there was a submenu called ARTIST PAGES or something like that. Similar to this one:
image.pngIt just disappeared with one of those updates. I hope that you can restore those pages. I checked PHPmyadmin and confirmed that the page data definitely still exists in the database, in wp_posts: https://snipboard.io/ivlm6C.jpg
There is one plug-in called TYPES that is inactive. It’s supposed to “Define custom post types, custom taxonomies and custom fields.” I have an older version installed and you can see on the plug page (https://wordpress.org/plugins/types/) that it has been discontinued.
Is there some other plugin that you know of that could provide the same functionality? Or maybe it’s built into Enfold Theme somehow?
thanks very much
PeterJuly 16, 2020 at 6:27 am #1230835Hi Peter,
Thanks for the update. archive.org only loads the logo and menu on my end, but please see private for what I’m seeing on my end. What exactly is missing there? The content seems to correspond with what you have on your backend.

RikardJuly 16, 2020 at 7:01 am #1230842Hi Rikard,
You might need to let the page load, it does take some time. But anyway, here are screenshots:https://web.archive.org/web/20191103185109/http://www.slovenly.com/artists/

SCREENSHOT: https://snipboard.io/unENjd.jpgAs I mentioned, the content is still in wp-posts in my database… but it’s no longer showing up in wordpress anywhere and I have no idea why not.
https://snipboard.io/ivlm6C.jpgJuly 18, 2020 at 12:19 am #1231394Hey Rikard, I figured it out. There was another plug-in that was deprecated. (“TYPES”)
I’ve updated to Version 2.3.5 (“Toolset Types”) and it’s working now.
