See attached screenshot. This menu shows up in place of the slider on my homepage when viewing on mobile devices. Only thing which solves this is turning cookies OFF in the apple settings. Problem occurs with iPhone 5 & 6 and possibly other mobile devices. Please help. thanks.
December 21, 2015 at 8:32 am #555799Hey AirstreamCoach,
It looks like the CSS is not loading properly there but clearing your browser cache and reloading a few times should help, could you try that please?
Thanks,
RikardDecember 22, 2015 at 4:36 pm #556624Thanks. I tried this but it does not help. The only thing that helps is to change the iphone settings for safari to “always allow” cookies and website data, then clear the cache. Unfortunately, this is not the default settings for most phones.
Let me know if you need more screen shots. Mobile display is seriously messed up for this site.
please advise. thanks.December 27, 2015 at 10:06 am #557590Hi,
I’m not seeing that error on my end using iphone4/safari, please have a look at the screenshot in private. I’m using the regular version of Safari and I’ve never cleared cookies from it.

December 28, 2015 at 4:21 pm #557740Please Try this — In your safari settings:
— Clear your cache (history & website data) and block cookies.
— Set safari privacy & security for cookies to “always block” or “Allow from websites I visit” (iPhone default setting).
Now check the site. http://www.AirstreamCoach.com
Not sure if iPhone 4 will act up, but this problem occurs consistently on iPhone 5 & 6 and we have received many complaints.
Please help. Thank youPS: here is another recent screenshot showing another variation of the problem:

December 28, 2015 at 4:42 pm #557749Hi!
Please try adding following code to Quick CSS
@media only screen and (max-width: 990px) { nav.main_menu { display: none !important; }}
Regards,
YigitDecember 28, 2015 at 4:55 pm #557758thank you for the suggestion. i replaced the CSS which was previously there (provided by your staff when site was built), but this did not work.
I have tested each setting. The display issue recurs with either code or no codes in the CSS.Hi Yigit & Kriesi,
Sorry to keep bothering you with this issue but it is still not resolved, and it is serious. Bottom line is that this issue only occurs with cookies on iPhones in Safari. But it is the default setting on most phones and the site is broken on all of them with this setting turned on. I contacted my hosting and confirmed that caching and permissions are fine. Why Is the Enfold theme dependent on cookies and can this be changed ???
Thank you kindly, Jen- This reply was modified 8 years, 10 months ago by AirstreamCoach.
January 12, 2016 at 11:12 am #563802Hey!
We are very sorry for the delay. The theme is not dependent on any kinds of cookies. You can hire a pro developer to check the theme framework and I will assure you that they will not find any scripts dependent on cookies. It is actually baffling that among thousands of sites using the Enfold theme, this site is the only one with the issue. It is more likely that a third party plugin or a server configuration is causing the issue. Unfortunately, we cannot identify which one. Did you test the site with all plugins deactivated? Is this happening on the enfold demo?
Cheers!
IsmaelJanuary 12, 2016 at 5:54 pm #564077Hi Ismael.
Thank you so much for your help with this, I really appreciate your efforts. I understand that it is baffling on your end. It is baffling for us, too, since it is happening on all (now 4 of them) of our sites, but only with the Enfold theme.
Would you kindly take a look at the back end of this new site I recently set up? Credentials are pasted below. There are no plugins activated, no demo content, and very few files have been uploaded. Just a similar front page with slider. I am seeing the problem in mobile when I clear the cache and block cookies, as we have seen on the other sites. Screen shot attached.
This eliminates plug ins as being the cause. I have contacted Godaddy, and they sent me back to you saying it was the cookies. But, you eliminated that.
You also mentioned server configuration. How can this be determined? What should I be looking for there? Other Enfold customers have reported this issue (hosted by Godaddy). Could it be some combination between your theme and their servers? I’m sorry I don’t understand these issues better.
The only other thing all our sites have in common is a full screen slider or layer slider on the home page. One of the “symptoms” we have is that the slider fails to display when cookies are blocked on phones. Sometimes it works with a refresh. The other issue is that the menu goes all over the screen (see screen shot) with cookies blocked, but not every time.
Again, thank you so much for your help… we still need to get to the bottom of this, so any suggestion you offer would be greatly appreciated. cheers! JenJanuary 14, 2016 at 10:08 am #565290Hi!
Could you please ask your hosting provider to disable APC (Alternative PHP Cache) temporarily? I checked the phpinfo page and APC is enabled. I don’t see that quite often on most enfold installations and I’m not sure if disabling it will going to fix the issue but it’s worth a try. You can disable it via .htaccess but let’s try your hosting provider first.
Best regards,
IsmaelJanuary 19, 2016 at 7:03 pm #568047Hi Ismael,
Thank you for this suggestion. I requested that godaddy disable the cache last week but they said this was impossible to do. Meanwhile, they (supposedly) put me in contact with their tech expert on Worpress Managed hosting. He was going to take a look at this issue last Thursday and get back to me. Unfortunately, I have not heard back. They have not been responding to any of my messages. Very disappointed with Godaddy now. If you believe that their hosting is the source of this compatibility issue with Enfold, we will have no choice but to switch hosting providers. If we do this, I would greatly appreciate your recommendations for a provider with which we can be assured the Enfold theme is compatible. Your thoughts? Maybe we just need to go to C-Panel hosting? Thanks again for all your help with this issue. We must get this solved once and for all. Regards, JenJanuary 21, 2016 at 3:26 am #569102Hi!
I’m not sure how they handle php settings / extensions on their end but you can enable / disable APC on a localhost. The theme should work with any common hosting providers, the only difference that I noticed is the APC extension which is not enabled on most enfold installation. Please try to disable the APC extension manually:

IsmaelJanuary 21, 2016 at 7:56 pm #569580Hi Ismael, This was great detective work, but I still need your help. With go daddy’s help, I was able to upload and edit .user.ini file and turn off the APC extension (i think!) on one of my test sites but the problem persists. Can you kindly verify it is turned off? Test site credentials are below. If it is off and this does not solve the problem, what do you suggest I try next? kind thanks Jen.
January 22, 2016 at 12:15 am #569637Hello, I’m attempting to trouble shoot a similar issue. Everything has gone very smoothly with the enfold theme, however on an iphone the menu appears similar to OP’s images above. I have not had any luck adjusting settings or CSS to fix the issue.
Was hoping another example might lead to a quicker discovery of the cause.
I will post an image when I am able to upload one. Thanks in advance!
January 22, 2016 at 2:45 am #569697Hi Thinayr, thank you for adding to this thread. There were several other users seeing the same issue on another thread, and we are looking for a pattern. Do you have a recollection of when this issue started for you? What hosting are you using? thanks. jen
Ismael… quick follow up just wanted to let you know that we confirmed the APC is disabled now on all my sites but the problem persists. Your thoughts? Next suggestion? thanks. Jen
January 22, 2016 at 5:06 am #569756Hey Coach,
I just switched over to this theme yesterday (and have really like every aspect of it so far, except for the issue at hand of course!).
I have never seen the theme appear correctly on the mobile phone, however.
My site is hosted by MediaTemple, through a wordpress-specific plan. Unfortunately I don’t have much access to server settings but I’d be happy to inquire about anything that could help find the pattern. Thanks all –

January 23, 2016 at 12:22 am #570382Hi Ismael,
Unfortunately, the disabling of the APC extension did not fix the issue. Can you share the phpinfo.php data for a working enfold site – one which is functioning properly on mobile, such as your demos?? We would like to compare with ours. thanks. jenJanuary 23, 2016 at 5:39 am #570461Hey!
@Jen: Did you flush the godaddy cache before testing the page? I’m just asking in case you missed it. I tested the site on my iPod Touch 5 which almost has but not quite the same safari version as the latest iPhone 5 or 6 and it looks ok. I tested the cookie options one at a time and I didn’t find any difference with the result. One more thing you can check with your phone is the javascript option. Go to the phone settings > safari > advanced then make sure that the javascript is enabled.
EDIT: Regarding the php info, the only difference is the apc support, nothing else.
@thinayr: Thanks for sharing the site. If you can create a new thread with the login credentials, we’ll check the issue there. Please post a screenshot using imgur or dropbox.Regards,
IsmaelJanuary 23, 2016 at 6:01 am #570462Hey!
UPDATE: I found another thread with the same issue and this what the user said about APC so it’s probable that the extension is not completely disabled on the site even though the APC Support row in the phpinfo says “DISABLED”. I’m not sure what kind of hosting plan the site is subscribed to so this might not be true in your case: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/mobile-responsiveness-trouble/#post-569629
In order to make sure that apc / apc related stuff is disabled, please try to disable it manually. You can put this in the php.ini file:
apc.cache_by_default=0 apc.use_request_time=0 apc.slam_defense=0 apc.canonicalize=0 apc.write_lock=0 apc.stat=0
Cheers!
IsmaelJanuary 23, 2016 at 8:27 pm #570613Thank you Ismael. good research. but, no luck here.
javascript is enabled on my phone. I added the php.ini file info your provided on 4 of my sites (2 live and 2 test sites). as shown below. Doesn’t seem that cookies blocked/allowed make any difference now. every time i clear web data it comes up differently for each site. one will be okay then when cleared, it goes bad. and visa versa. sometimes there is a square menu box at the top with all the menu items and an “x”. sometimes the menu is floating all over the screen. Sometimes the images fail to appear. this problem appears in many variations. :-( please advise. thx. Now… should i take those changes out or leave them in? the APC changes don’t seem to be helping. should I remove the php.ini file altogether?

January 27, 2016 at 8:45 am #572668Hey!
Please leave the apc options as it is. If the site looks different every time you refresh the page regardless of the cookie option then maybe a cache module will help. You can try the W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache plugins. Please test it in the http://airstreamcoach.com/ site.
Regards,
IsmaelJanuary 27, 2016 at 5:31 pm #573093Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it says that neither of these plugins are “available”. Seems I can download but cannot activate. There is a warning at the developer site which states: “Warning: This plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress”. When I try to activate, I get an error saying the plug in is not allowed. What do you recommend? Jen
EDIT: the host pulled those two plugins off my site (they were installed but not activated) as “blacklisted”, today. Are there any other cache plug ins you might recommend that I try? your suggestions are much appreciated. jen

January 29, 2016 at 6:33 am #574333Hey!
I didn’t notice that W3 Total Cache is only compatible up to 4.3.1 but the WP Super Cache should be compatible with 4.4.1. You can try the WP Rocket plugin instead.
Best regards,
IsmaelJanuary 29, 2016 at 5:36 pm #574701Not finding WP Rocket plug in. Is that the correct name? Yes, supposedly WP Super Cache is compatible – but it will not activate and when the host finds it they remove as “blacklisted”. any other products I might try? thanks for your continuing help with this issue.
[The header on one of my sites just randomly changed from white to black on mobile. Happens every now and then ( in addition to the messed up menus, and failure of slider to load). Another one of my sites is now showing up with no menu and no layer slider at all – there are quite a few display issues going on here. they seem to show up randomly each time i clear my data. thx.]

January 30, 2016 at 2:01 am #574852I keep getting people telling me that my website wont load on Apple IOS (iphone 6) It just gets stuck on a blue screen.
February 3, 2016 at 6:46 am #576903Hey!
WP Rocket is a premium plugin so I don’t really recommend it because it might not solve the issue entirely. And there are incompatibility issues on a few plugins like the layer slider. I installed the zen cache plugin on the rv site. Please log out of the dashboard, remove browser cache or hard refresh before checking the page. http://991.7d8.myftpupload.com/
NOTE: Always flush the “Godaddy” cache.
Cheers!
IsmaelFebruary 3, 2016 at 7:29 am #576918HI. Sorry for all my edits on this post. We had another concurrent issue with our sites being down and I wasn’t sure if they were related. Sites are all back up now.
Cache: I have tested the new plug in, cleared cache, and all, signoff/on as instructed — but the mobile display problem persists.
Installed the plug in on my other site & test site, as well. Problem persists on all the sites. Are there any specific settings we should modify that might help?
This mobile display problem is persistent on iPhones tho not every time. Sites randomly appear corrupted up after clearing data. We continue to test this on several IOS mobile devices and models. Feel like we have tried everything. Other users are reporting same issues. Is it a Safari issue? Please advise, thanks. Jen

February 7, 2016 at 8:12 am #579142Hi!
I’m sorry but I’m running out of ideas here. Do you have any other sites hosted on another provider?
Best regards,
IsmaelFebruary 9, 2016 at 1:32 am #579991Ismael,
Hi. Thanks for your continuing efforts. No, I do not have enfold running on other hosts. However, we have seen several other Enfold users report the same problem with other hosting providers. There was another thread going on the same topic here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/slider-menu-missing-on-homepage-mobile/
But, there must be an explanation to why this is happening. It’s only with Safari, that we know of. We love Enfold theme, except for this one major problem that it doesn’t work on iPhones. We do not want to have to switch themes. Is there anything else you can do to help? thanks.

February 10, 2016 at 7:29 am #580857Hi!
@icebox10’s site is also hosted on godaddy: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/slider-menu-missing-on-homepage-mobile/#post-544812The other user (rmendoza121) didn’t provide more info or open any thread regarding the issue. We found another thread with same issue and again the site is hosted on godaddy so this is likely a server configuration issue. Is this a shared hosting?
Cheers!
