Dear team,
recently a customer, whose website is based on Enfold contacted me asking, if I could do something against massive spamming, which would occur via the Enfold “standard” contact form. We do have the anti-spam question included in the form. He talked about some 200 messages, being sent over the form.
I asked him to forward some to me. The content did not contain much, except for 2 letters.
Are You aware of any attacks, vulnerabilities, etc?
Thank You.

May 25, 2016 at 7:34 pm #638230Hey mailworm!
I’m not aware of the spam mails you described but usually spam bot’s target specific sites or a group of sites on a server.
I noticed you are using captcha but may be this one needs a more complex one… try using contact form 7 and a plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-captcha/
Also notify the hosting company and see if they can stop the spam attacks..

VinayMay 25, 2016 at 8:21 pm #638242Thank You very much. Basically its like I am hosting it and its not the only Enfold website, but its the only one, where I got that spam issue reported.
May 25, 2016 at 9:01 pm #638271Hey!
You can also try using a plugin such as this one – https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-spamshield/
Regards,
YigitMay 25, 2016 at 9:38 pm #638294I changed the forms to Contact Form 7 with Google Recaptcha. Not sure, how much is needed, to implement Google Recaptcha into the integrated form in future versions of Enfold?
May 26, 2016 at 1:56 am #638366Hey!
Please try the plugin Yigit mentioned should be good enough to keep the spam at bay. To integrate google captcha there are few 3rd party plugins available like https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-captcha/ but not sure how well it integrates.
Please feel free to request such feature here – https://kriesi.at/support/enfold-feature-requests/
And if there are features that you wish Enfold had, you can request them and vote the requested ones here – https://kriesi.at/support/enfold-feature-requests/Cheers!
VinayJanuary 26, 2017 at 11:31 pm #739155hi, having the same issues with TONS of spam getting through the captcha
I tried the wp-spamshield plugin recommended above with no effect.
did anyone figure out a fix for this issue yet? Thanks for the support!
January 30, 2017 at 7:29 pm #740378Hi,
We have informed our devs regarding the issue.
If plugin did not work either that means issue is probably not theme related
Best regards,
YigitFebruary 16, 2017 at 10:57 pm #748163any fixes for the capcha used in this theme yet?
thanks for the support!
February 17, 2017 at 2:19 pm #748439March 4, 2017 at 6:19 am #755481+1 – same issue here. Obviously the spam bots have worked out this captcha and are abusing all sites using it. Looking forward to a fix!
March 4, 2017 at 10:01 am #755566+1 still happening here to new domain/ websites
Please try to integrate Google reCAPTCHA into your forms.
Used CF7 to get rid of the spam, but your forms design options are just to great!
March 6, 2017 at 1:09 pm #756352Hi,
Are you guys using the latest version of Enfold which is currently 4.0.2? If not, please update the theme – kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/
Best regards,
YigitMarch 6, 2017 at 11:45 pm #756649Were there any changes to spam protection in this version or was this a general comment?
I am on 4.0.2.
March 7, 2017 at 4:23 am #756714Hi,
To avoid spam you can simply abfuscate the email address please refer to this link https://kriesi.at/support/topic/share-code-snippet-obfuscate-email-address-shortcode/#post-753421
Hope this helps ;)

VinayMarch 8, 2017 at 1:27 pm #757759Hi Vinay,
thanks for the updates. I think lots of clients would love to have Google reCaptcha integration seen being implemented/ made available as an option in the integrated form functionality.
Where can I make another suggestion re build-in form functionality?

ThomasMarch 8, 2017 at 11:21 pm #758082Hi,
Please feel free to request such feature at our feature request system: https://kriesi.at/support/enfold-feature-requests/
This system allows us to keep track of user suggestions and lets you vote on the feature you would like to see the most. I am afraid though there is no guarantee that a feature will get implemented. If that’s something you really need you can always try to hire a developer for the task :)
Best regards,
VinayDecember 18, 2017 at 10:34 pm #890270Dear Kriesi,
i have added your contact form via shortcode in a special side slider. But now, i get spam. In your standard contact form it’s a hidden secret implemented which should prevent spam. Is it in the shortcode variation also implemented or i need an extra shortcode field?
Best
