    Hi There

I have looked at other posts but everything I try fails. The demo import fails from the enfold/demo import page and it also fails to import the XML file manually (it says the file is empty although it clearly is not empty). I do not have the technical know-how to do much else – can you help me understand the problem? It is a new basic hosting package from Fasthosts and a clean WordPress install so I’m really unsure as to what to try next, but it would help me a great deal to work from a demo rather than a totally clean version of Enfold.

    Many thanks,
    Jason

    Hi Jason,

Could you try to import the demo manually to see if that works better? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/import-demos/#manual-demo-import–using-xml-files-. If not then please let us know which demo you are trying to import and we’ll have a closer look at it.

    Best regards,

    Hi Rikard,

Many thanks for your response. I did try the manual import but that failed too for some reason – I will try again.

I have established that it is something to do with the web space I am using. I imported the demo to another web space I have from the same supplier, and it worked perfectly. The web host said the technology of the two hosting packages was different – I am trying to get more info on that now.

I guess I could move it from the site where it works to the one where it does not using FTP? Although, I’m not sure how to do that.

    Best,
    Jason

    Hi Jason,

When the imports fail it’s usually due to the max_execution_time setting on the server which needs to be increased. The demo import usually takes a few minutes and if the settings is not high enough then the import will fail. One option could be that you import the demo to a local or other installation, then you can use a migration plugin to simply move the whole site.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard

Yes – this was a hosting environment issue – so I switched hosting and now its fine. It was not even possible to migrate from another installation,so I am not sure what use that webspace is!

Thanks for your follow ups – much appreciated.
