Goodmorning,
I have a completely new WP installation, in a subdirectory of my domain.
I installed Enfold and the Enfold-child theme.
I activated the child theme and import Enfold 2017 – after a couple of minutes the import is done, but I get a whole list of files that could not be imported.
The theme works (front end), but all images are missing.I already read https://kriesi.at/support/topic/most-demo-images-missing/ but that gives no solution.
I appreciate your help with this.

August 22, 2017 at 12:05 pm #842455Hey Frank,
Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.
- Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
- Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
- Click ” Create New “.
- Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( do be sure that we have enough time to debug ). - Click ” Submit “.
- You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.
When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create a admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.Best regards,
NikkoAugust 23, 2017 at 2:41 pm #843042Hey Frank,
Same problem here.
Import works on different account/provider (easyname),
but not World4You (big austrian provider).Tried it a dozen times with different htaccess-approaches – nothing worked.
BTW: Import sometimes states an error, sometimes not – image import never works.TIA,
HaraldAugust 25, 2017 at 6:55 pm #844116Hi,
Thanks for providing the access, I have spent some time with it but still could not figure out what’s causing the issue since even enabling debugger doesn’t provide any information, there are few thing I find out though:
- You can’t install plugin via Plugins > Add New in the backend
- The images have been added in the files, you see it via ftp going to the uploads folder in 2016/02/ (subfolder)
Also all imports are fine on my end with no errors but images aren’t added as what you experience. I’m not exactly sure but it might be some security issue, can you try to ask your host regarding the adding the plugin issue, maybe fixing it would fix the importing image issue as well.
Best regards,
NikkoAugust 26, 2017 at 5:59 am #844289Hi Nikko,
Are you sure you’re talking about my installation?- I just installed a random plugin – no problem at all
It works also when logged in with the temporary account I provided - there is no directory in uploads called 2016/02

August 28, 2017 at 5:41 am #844660Hi,
Yes, as for the the plugin installation I’m sorry it’s a mistake that plugins can’t be installed, but few plugins I tried didn’t install, for example WordPress Importer (from wordpressdotorg) which we can use the import via xml can’t be installed, also tried Theme Check (by Otto42), try to install the plugins mentioned. As for the directory in uploads you should see via ftp that the uploads folder have a 2016 folder and within that folder there’s this 02 folder and inside that folder you should see the images have been uploaded there, though you can’t see it in the wp dashboard’s media.
Best regards,
NikkoAugust 28, 2017 at 6:05 am #844667Hi Nikko,
In /root/subdir/wp-content/uploads/ there is no directory called 2016 – only 2015, 2017 and dynamic_avia
I’ll give the plugins mentioned a try later on (got to go to my job now).
FrankAugust 28, 2017 at 4:50 pm #844880Hi Frank,
The link was for the Plugins > Add New page, sorry if I got you confused for that, but I tried it and it works fine on my end. As for the directory its in the wtf folder (see screenshot in private content).
Best regards,
NikkoAugust 28, 2017 at 9:28 pm #845043Hi guys, Nikko and Frank,
Sorry, seems that I added some confusion here, when I joined the conversation, having the same problem like Frank.
Frank, the wtf-folder is in my installation (subdir, of my test-installation)Niko, should we create a separate thread? the wtf-upload-dir is empty as far a I can see with my default ftp-user.
dont see a screenshot in private content as u mentioned in your August 28, 2017 at 4:50 pm reply.
tried another demo import; seems that some do add the files (but not into db) (Health Demo, Gym demo), and some dont even copy the files (Dark Photography Demo)
pretty confused by now oOSorry for my stepping in, Frank!
Best regards,
HaraldAugust 29, 2017 at 4:13 am #845148Hi,
Try to check if the uploads folder is with the permission right following this article: https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions
Best regards,
John TorvikAugust 29, 2017 at 6:01 am #845193@HaraldP: thank you for your reply, this explains my confusion completely It sounds like a good plan to create a separate thread for your problem.
@John: my uploads directory is now set to 755. Would it be wise to change that to 777 before importing the template and change it back to 755 after that?Frank
August 30, 2017 at 6:11 am #845605Goodmorning again, my problem is not solved at all.
I hope you won’t mix up users again: the initiator of this thread is me, Gyaltshab.
But you responded mainly to HaraldP, who mixed into my conversation.
Please respond to my questions and replies in this thread, not to his.I just extended your temporary login (see private content).
I deleted all pages, posts, categories and tags from my WP installation and just kept one page (“eerste pagina”).
I changed CHMOD for the uploads folder to 775 (recursive).
Then I imported the Enfold 2017 demo.
This partially succeeded, but the slider at the top does not work, the fonts are not right, some images are imported, others are not …Please have a look at it and advise me about how to solve it.
I bought your premium theme (“… makes building beautiful website intuitive and fun”) but working with it is disappointing so far.
I’m not a techie, so pointing at an eight screens long page in the WP codex does not really help me (although I appreciate your intentions).Kind regards,
FrankSeptember 4, 2017 at 6:19 am #847514Hi,
Sorry for that. Can you tell us what version of php you are using? and can you give us ftp access as well.
Best regards,
NikkoSeptember 4, 2017 at 5:04 pm #847825Hi Nikko, see my private message below.
FrankSeptember 6, 2017 at 10:51 am #848531Hi,
Please try to use php7 and check if the issue goes away.
Best regards,
NikkoSeptember 6, 2017 at 9:03 pm #848836No succes with that.
I first tried PHP 7.1 but then got the message “Importing didnt work! You might want to try reloading the page and then try again”
Logged out, logged in tried again, same result.
I logged out, set PHP back to 7.0 and now again all Media failed to import and as the last time not all images were imported, the CSS is not correct, LayerSlider fails to install …
I left it all as it is for now, so you can see for yourself.I don’t mind setting it all up again, a complete new WP installation, but wonder if that would help in any way.
Please advise me on this.
Is there anything I can ask my host to do?
Should I not be running the Enfold Child theme (although you recommend that)?Frank

September 9, 2017 at 4:05 am #849802Hi,
Thank you for the info.
Please edit the enfold/framework/php/wordpress-importer/wordpress-importer.php, remove everything then replace it with the following code.
// https://pastebin.com/bM2TZSVR
Remove browser cache or hard refresh before importhing anything again.
Best regards,
IsmaelSeptember 9, 2017 at 8:40 am #849888Hi Ismael,
I did all of this with the same result as before.
What would be the best way to proceed?- Do a complete new installation, in a new subdirectory of my domain?
- Set the /wp-content/uploads/ folder to CHMOD 775? Or is that not needed at all?
- Use the original wordpress-importer.php file, or the one you pointed at at https://pastebin.com/bM2TZSVR ?
- Set PHP to 7.0?
- Anything else?
Please advise me on this.
FrankSeptember 11, 2017 at 7:04 am #850363Hi,
Is it possible to downgrade to PHP 5.6 in your server? Please downgrade to that version then increase the maximum execution time limit to at least 300 or 5 minutes. After the demo import, upgrade PHP again to version 7.
Or try to import the demo by using the WordPress importer. You can find the demo files inside the enfold > includes > admin > demo_files folder.
Best regards,
IsmaelSeptember 12, 2017 at 6:06 pm #851150Alas, still no success.
Upgrading max execution time did not solve it, using the WP Importer gives the same list of errors (‘is mislukt’ means ‘failed’):

FrankSeptember 13, 2017 at 5:25 am #851349I managed to set max_file_uploads to 100.
I then got no more errors about failed imports, but the appearance of the site is still the same – nothing like your demo. Then I tried another WP installation in the same domain and imported Enfold 2017 again – again I get the failed imports (why?) and the same result as before: missing images, incorrect CSS, corrupted layerslider (LayerSlider encountered a problem while it tried to show your slider. Please make sure that you’ve used the right shortcode or method to insert the slider, and check if the corresponding slider exists and it wasn’t deleted previously. Only you and other administrators can see this to take appropriate actions if necessary.) …
I tried the Enfold Child Theme and the original Enfold Theme.
I have set up many WP sites with this host I use – never a single problem.
I can hardly imagine that with more than 130,000 sales I’m the only one experiencing these kinds of troubles.
I have been struggling with this for more than 3 weeks now and did not get a step further. Please advise me on possibilities why this does not work and how to solve them.
Or give me a refund and I’ll leave Enfold alone.
Kind regards,
FrankSeptember 13, 2017 at 7:38 am #851405Hi,
The PHP version is still 7.0.7. Did you try the old version 5.6? Are you resetting the database before importing the demo? The media upload will fail if the attachments already exist in the database.
I’m sorry that you’re having this issue. If you really want a refund, please contact themeforest.
Best regards,
IsmaelSeptember 13, 2017 at 6:13 pm #851683Hi Ismael,
PHP Version 5.6.29
max_execution_time 600
I installed a fresh WP
And still the same result.
The import was done within 5 minutes so the max-Execution_time should be more than sufficient.I’ll contact Themforest about a refund.
I’m sorry I can’t get it to work, the theme looks promissing.
Thanks for your assistance.
FrankSeptember 14, 2017 at 8:49 am #851910Hi,
Is it OK if we reset the database? We would like to test it. Please provide the latest WP login details.
Best regards,
IsmaelSeptember 14, 2017 at 6:01 pm #852239Sure, please do what ever you think is OK.
September 15, 2017 at 11:20 am #852492Hi,
I tried to re-import the demo multiple times but it still fails. Also, I would like to adjust a few PHP directives but the FTP details are not working. If you don’t mind, please increase the “max_file_uploads” from 100 to 1000 then increase the “max_execution_time” from 600 to 1200 seconds. The “upload_tmp_dir” value is also blank. Please set it properly.

IsmaelSeptember 15, 2017 at 1:26 pm #852520Did so – please continue.
I can’t log in myself anymore, it seems you removed my own user account and the temporary-account I set up for you does not work anymore.- This reply was modified 7 years, 2 months ago by Gyaltshab.
