I am having a chronic problem on two different sites with changes to columns. Most of the changes I make (color, adding padding or borders, etc.) aren’t saved.
So, edit column, make change to padding for instance, save, update the page, go back to edit the column and the settings have all reverted to defaults.
If it’s a caching issue, at what point in the process do I clear cache – after save but before update?
This is making me nuts. Please help.
I’m setting up user access for you to take a look.

    Hey KarenBH,

Thanks for the login details, does your site have a URL or IP number as well?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

Well that would have been very helpful to send the first time! Sorry!

    #1072006

Actually, now I can’t reproduce the issue. I was going to send you a specific page to look at. So I guess disregard, and I’ll open a new ticket it the problem recurs.

    Hi Rikard,
I have an example now of this problem.
It seems that once I have made changes to columns – color, border, padding, etc. – it is impossible to change them. I make the change, save, go right back in and the setting has reverted to the original. It is a chronic problem that has happened on two different sites.

I’ve learned that sometimes when a change isn’t heeded, it’s because there is a contradiction somewhere or an invalid option has been chosen, but I can’t find anything wrong.

The problem occurs with columns inside and outside of a color element.
The problem occurs if I save and go right back into the element as well as if I save and update the the page.

It is not merely an issue of a change not showing due to caching – it is a matter of the change not being saved.

This is driving me nuts, any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update.

Could you give us a link to a page where we can reproduce the issue? We created a test page and all the changes committed there are being saved properly. (see private field)

    Best regards,
    Ismael

I’m having the problem on several pages on several sites. Here’s the most recent: See the ministries page at:

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update.

We managed to duplicate the columns and add a few text blocks on that page.
Which browser are you using? We used Chrome on Windows 7 to edit the page.

    Ismael

My issue has not been with creating new columns, but with changing settings on columns once saved. I can create new columns and start over each time and this is what I have been doing because once I’ve set a background or image or border or shadow or padding, etc., etc. I am unable to change it.

I should be able to change the settings once set, rather than have to start over with a new column each time.

Again, here’s what happens – set a background, etc., save, update. Open the element back up to change to a different color or whatever, save, update. No change. Open the element back up and the original settings are still there, not the new ones. So it’s not simply a caching issue – the changes aren’t being saved.

This is a chronic problem on two different sites. This is a problem whether the columns are in a color section or stand alone.

    This is super frustrating!

    Hi,

We would like to apologize for the late response.

We were able to change the settings of the columns without recreating them. (see private field)
Have you tried editing them on another computer or network?

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Dear Ismael,

We’re having the same problem with saving changes on columns, on multiple sites. For example when I change padding in a column or change a background colour, it often doesn’t save, even though I click ‘Save changes’ and save the changes on the page in WordPress. Often when I redo it, it works. That’s not really efficient ;-)

We’re using the most recent Enfold version (4.5.4).

    Best regards

I did try a different computer and a different network as Ismael suggested and still had the problem. However, the next time I went to the sample page I had set up, the columns worked correctly for me. But I continue to have the same issue on other pages.

I was about to give up finding a solution since the problem seems to be intermittent and difficult to reproduce. But now that someone else is seeing it, too, perhaps that will give the Enfold team something more to go on.

Jan – I’ve only been able to get around this by starting with a brand new column. I’m not having any luck with with trying again on the same column. Glad that’s working for you.

So there are work arounds, but as Jan says – not very efficient.

    Hi,

@karenbh: We can’t reproduce the issue on Opera, Windows 7, so we’re not really sure what’s going wrong in your end. The page updates properly anytime we change the settings.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

Same issue here. Chrome on mac. Column changes (especially since Gutenberg) often don’t save. It’s random.

    Hi Hayek,

Can you give us temporary admin access to your website in the private content box below, so that we can have a closer look?

FWIW- I’ll add I have a number of sites using enfold and this seems to be an ongoing problem. I started noticing it about a year or so ago. If i make edits to a column click save and then update they don’t save. It’s not every time…but frequent.

This happens on multiple servers (I have 4) with different configs.

I’ve found a somewhat workaround…It seems like if you click save on the column settings, then immediately re-open the column settings, verify the changes are there, hit save again, then update it works more reliably. Not ideal but it seems to work. I love enfold. It’s by far the best theme in my opinion so this is a manageable issue but I do hope they can resolve it.

I’ve been having this exact same issue for over a year. Have been using work-arounds until now when I can’t even get the work-arounds mentioned above to get it to save the column changes.

    Did this get resolved?
