For some unknown reason, category pages stopped working.
Recently, WordPress has been updated to the latest version, and the PHP version has been changed from 7.4 to 8.0.
On other themes, category pages with post pagination work fine.

    Hey Referee1988,

    Thank you for the inquiry.

Did you override any parent theme templates or files in the child theme? The template modifications might have caused this issue. We may need to access the site in order to check the issue further. Please provide an admin an account in the private field.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

I didn’t make any changes to the theme.

    Hi,
Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the login, it seems that your categories have a category base of /publications/ but in the WordPress Permalink Settings there is no category base set, did you apply this with a plugin like Yoast?
By default the category base should be /category/ have you tried disabling your plugins to see if the default works again?
Do you recall what changes you made before it was last working?

    Best regards,
    Mike

I don’t remember how I changed the category address. I did this a few years ago.
    Disabling plugins doesn’t change anything.
BUT! If I activate the regular Enfold theme or any other instead of the Enfold Child theme, everything works!
I also received an error message by e-mail.

    Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, the error message was due to an old breadcrumbs shortcode that you were using that should not be used, I corrected for you, you can read this post for further info but there is no action that you need to take now.
So as I understand when you use the parent theme Enfold instead of the child theme it works correctly?
I tried removing all of your custom code in your child theme functions.php and your child theme stylesheet but that didn’t help, and then I tried enabling your parent theme and your category pages did show, so I don’t know how this could be since the only customization for the child theme are in those two files.
Are you able to create a staging site? If you are try exporting your theme settings when your child theme is active and then activate your parent theme and import the child theme settings file and see if all of your child theme customizations are imported into your parent theme and everything looks correct and the category pages also work correctly.
It sounds like this might work but try this on a staging site in case it doesn’t.

    Best regards,
    Mike
