Hi,
I am doing some work for a client who has a page with masonry gallery set up. Each image has a caption over the image, but now I’ve just added two new images and their captions but every time i try to save the element, update the page and check the captions are gone. The images are showing up with their links as they should but no caption like the other 6 images on the page. I tried to add the captions directly in the media library but when I refresh the gallery they also disappear!
The client needs the site to look consistent so I need to find a way to make this work!
The last 2 images on the page are the ones in question.

Can you give us temporary admin access to your website in the private content box below, so that we can have a closer look?

February 15, 2020 at 6:52 am #1184670Hi,
Thanks for the login details. I see that you are running an old version of the theme, could you try to update to the latest version (4.7.3) to see if that helps please? The update to 4.7.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
After you have updated then try to activate the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Also please consider updating your PHP version, we recommend running 7.1 or higher.
Best regards,
RikardFebruary 19, 2020 at 11:20 pm #1186194Hi Rickard,
I have updated the theme and asked their host to update to php 7.1 (because there was an issue on the server side that I couldn’t fix) and I was able to add a caption to the images at the bottom of this page: https://www.sandraschmirler.org/english/in-their-own-words/, but there is supposed to be a name below that was achieved by adding a <br/> into the caption and then the name (ie: It’s Been A Roller Coaster Ride!<br/>Taryn Argue) The rest of the masonry galleries are working this way currently but when I add a new image and try and set the caption the same way it doesn’t take anything after the break and removes it so when I go back to the gallery it’s like I never added it.
Thanks
February 24, 2020 at 8:28 am #1187225Hi,
Thank you for the update.
It seems to be a core issue — it’s just not possible to add html tags in the caption shortcode or field when you’re using the visual gallery editor. Please check the thread below.
// https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/18311
You have to directly edit the caption in the Media > Library panel.
Best regards,
