GuestHi there,
We had someone build an old website for us and are no longer with us. We are now getting an error and my guess is we need to update from our old version to the new versions. I know this is the wrong spot to post but because we don’t have access to the persons information who made this we are trapped. It is showing only this error and not letting us do anything else

There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.February 23, 2020 at 8:20 am #1187077Hey Alex B.,
Sorry for the problem. In order to update your site you will need access to a Themeforest/Envato account, if you don’t have that and if you can’t get it either, then I would suggest that you purchase a new license. If you don’t have access to that then you will never get any updates and you won’t be able to access the support forum either.
Once you have access to the theme files then the update to 4.7.x has to be done manually if you are running Enfold 4.4.1 or below, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
After you have updated then try to activate the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Best regards,
Rikard -
