Since the recent* 4.6.3.1 update the revised privacy / cookie settings have been causing us issues.

The behaviour is not what’s expected: we want users to accept or decline by acknowledging the policy outlined, and then to dismiss the notice.

If a user selects ‘accept settings’ nothing happens. Same with the ‘got it’ button. Doesn’t make a difference what browser.

We may be doing something wrong, but it’s not clear. The previous implementation was clear and worked as expected. I wish there had been an option to toggle between keeping the old simplified version or choosing the new version. Below is our settings.

    * Actually it’s over a month… bit disappointed there’s not been a point update to address the various issues arising from this update, considering how many other posts there seem to be on this forum. As this is a legal requirement for sites operating in the EU you might expect it to be a priority. Thanks in advance for helping us solve this.

I’ve unfortunately not been able to resolve this… would be grateful for some input or steer please. Thanks.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the inquiry.

Have you tried setting the Modal Popup Window in the privacy settings to open on page load? This will allow your users to review the privacy policy and decide whether to accept the cookies or not. Please note that services or features that relies on cookies such as the maps, spam protection and videos will only work once the user accepted the cookies and refresh the page. However, there is an option where you can set the page to reload automatically once the user accepted or denied the cookies. In the privacy panel, enable the “Show Advanced Options”, then set the “Auto Reload Page” settings accordingly.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

Thanks Ismael, I’ve tried this but it’s made no difference unfortunately.
Have deleted site cache and tried logging in on other browsers but still no change. I suspect a conflict or other issue.
Have provided login creds in case you can look and advise what the problem might be. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

We deactivated the cache plugins and turned off the Performance > File Compression settings temporarily to regenerate the scripts required for the new privacy options. We also set the Default Cookie Behaviour to the first option so that all cookies are accepted on load — user can always opt out manually if they wish. We also enabled the advanced options and set it so that the page auto reloads once the user accepted the cookies. You can always configure the options back when necessary. The map in the locations page now works properly when we check. However, the modal popup window still doesn’t display on page load. We had a hunch that it’s due to the lightbox script, so we created a dummy page and added an image element, and as suspected, the lightbox popup is not functioning properly (see private field). We didn’t find any errors or anything, so it’s possible that there’s a conflict somewhere — with the plugins or a custom script. Can we deactivate the plugins temporarily?

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hey!

Odd. We didn’t remove anything from the Quick CSS field. We actually fixed the src property in the @font-face rules inside the field. Are you sure it’s not there? Please refrain from using profanity in the forum.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

Did you try to disable the plugins temporarily? The privacy modal popup window doesn’t display because the lightbox script in your installation is not working properly. We didn’t find any errors in the site, so the issue is probably cause by a plugin or a custom script.

Hi Ismael. No, I had not tried this as it’s a live site. I have just done so, switching off 12 active plugins. I then tested, and turned them on in order.

It now seems the agree button on the privacy area is be working, which is good. I don’t know what the issue was, but I will continue to monitor it, in case the culprit becomes obvious

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

Great! Glad it’s working now. Please feel free to open a new thread if you need anything else.

    Have a nice day.

    Best regards,
    Ismael
