I have a customer using the Enfold theme on their WordPress site. They asked me to edit some content but I was unable to do so because none of the editors will come up when I try to edit the content. I am providing the login info for the site in the Private content field. Can someone their please take a look and see if you can determine what the issue might be?
The site has been running Enfold for quite some time I believe. I had them repurchase the theme to regain support.
Info:
Enfold 3.4.6
WordPress 4.4.21Thanks,
Michael Stafford
January 25, 2020 at 8:14 am #1178263You probably need to update Enfold and WordPress. The current version of Enfold is 4.7.2 and WordPress is currently on 5.3.2.
January 26, 2020 at 6:16 am #1178432Hi Michael,
You are running old versions of both the theme and WordPress itself, you will have to update them both. The update to 4.7.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.
After you have updated then try to activate the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
Best regards,
RikardJanuary 28, 2020 at 12:27 am #1178841Ok, thanks I’m int the process of getting all the access I need to backup/update the site. This is using Enfold Child. Is there anything special I need to do to get that setup? Is it included in the main 4.7 download?
Thanks again for your support. :)
January 28, 2020 at 9:55 pm #1179205Hi ericlewis2000,
No, not really but have a backup ready, make sure you’re running php7+ and it is better to have a staging site somewhere where you can attempt the update first.

VictoriaJanuary 28, 2020 at 10:45 pm #1179235I’ve got this up and running. I initially had an issue because I copied the new version over the old. WordPress gave the error ” There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”
I was locked out of the Admin site. To get back in I renamed the theme folder themes.deactivate. Went back to the Admin site and selected the default theme. Deleted the enfold theme folder and then re-uploaded the latest version files. Once that was done it was happy.
Thanks for your help. :)
