I am struggling here. I am trying to understand how to add images to a blogpost.
For multiple images in one post, I made this on my client Dev site: http://www.kennethbsmith.com/clients/abww/gallery-post/
I didn’t understand why the thumbnails didn’t line up, three across.
Thinking that maybe some of my CSS has caused issues, I started a fresh new test site using the Import Demo data and got this: http://www.kennethbsmith.com/clients/wprwd03/2014/03/03/hello-shortcode-blogpost/
Shouldn’t the top two thumbnails sit side by side, not on top of each other? Am I doing something wrong or is there a something I am missing? I don’t know why the version with three works here. It doesn’t when I place the short code at the beginning of the post.

    Hi akamaxbuz!

After you select the images and click the “Create a new gallery” button, you’ll have an option to select the number of columns for the gallery. Look for “GALLERY SETTINGS” > Columns.

    Ismael, I did do that.
And I now I think I found the issue. When I made the Blog Post with the intension of adding a gallery, I chose Format > Gallery (above the Publish pane). Then I made the post using Insert Shortcode > Media Elements > Gallery, the columns were wack. (Blogpost: http://www.kennethbsmith.com/clients/abww/post-using-format-gallery/ is similar to what I had shown you before)
But using Format > Standard, then the same Insert method, the columns seem to be fitting. (the rest of the posts http://www.kennethbsmith.com/clients/abww/blog/).
So, I don’t understand the Posts > Format. Where is the tutorial/info about that?

    Hey!

How are you? I hope you’re doing well today.

If you choose the post format gallery then added images using the add media button or add the shortcode gallery, that gallery will be shown as featured image for that specific post. What do you want the post format gallery to look like? It’s not out of whack, it is suppose to look that way when using the gallery format. If you want to learn more about posts format you can refer to this link: http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Formats

Please watch these videos to learn more about the theme: http://vimeo.com/channels/aviathemes/

    Cheers!

Thanks again. I think I am getting the hang of it. This has been a feature since WP 3.1? How did I miss that? I guess I have not been using themes with this feature. I would suggest doing a screencast on making Blog posts with these formats and the various image formats. I am curious of how I will be able to impart these methods to my client.

    Hey!

For the most part post formats have been a failure with WordPress. They were going to get a huge re-do with one of the recent versions but it ended up getting scrapped because it still was too complicated and just didn’t add anything but more complexity for the majority of users.

I hadn’t really thought of doing a tutorial for them but I’ll add it to my list of them to do.

    Regards,
    Devin
