    Hello Kriesi Team

    I have an issue with the Masonry (for Blog Posts, with excerpt) sort order not displaying the right order (link in the private content below). I’ve already tried the following

    — disabled all plugins
    — manually deleted the cache

    and the issue still persists. The issue goes away if I switch to ‘perfect grid’, but because we have an excerpt we cannot use that as the photos will no longer show, respective will be hidden.

    I also tried the ‘Blog’ element, but it’s not useful and does not look pleasing at all.

    Is there a way to work around this and have all the posts show in date order in the Masonry with the setting ‘flexible masonry’?

    Thanks heaps.

    Hey Corina,
    Sorry for our delayed response and thank you for your patience, I tested the masonry element on my test site with both flexible masonry & perfect grid but this setting didn’t change the order of the items, only the style of the items, am I understanding correctly that when you change between these two options the order of your items are different? I was not able to test on your page because the login is no longer valid, but I did notice that you are getting a javascript error on your site, but I can’t determine what it is related to:
    Uncaught SyntaxError: Invalid or unexpected token
    I see that you are using a child theme, do you get the same result if you switch to the parent theme?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike

    Thanks so much. Somehow I think someone restored a backup of the website to an earlier version without your user (there were also other things, which were updated and have now disappeared, but the client is also updating the website themselves.) Below are the login details once more.

    I tested the following
    — Reverted to the main theme (not child) — which fixed the javascript error, but did not fix the masonry date order issue (so changed back to child theme)
    — Removed all Google Analytics & Tracking Code — which fixed the javascript error

    — I now figured out that the issue ONLY appears with the following setting, in all other display settings it seems to work on flexible masonry. But this is the setting we had on the website for ever and my client would like to have it. (for now, I changed it to Title with Overlay for now, as my client has a big talk at an event on Tuesday and expects a lot of traffic. So please don’t do any testing on the live site after Monday 31.07.2023, or alternatively I can set up a development server with a copy of the website).

    // Flexible Masonry
    // Title & Excerpt below the image

    Thanks so much for your help.
    Kindest Regards,
    Corina

    Best regards,

    Hi,
    Thanks for your patience, but unfortunately I have not. I tried to test the masonry element again with the settings:
    // Flexible Masonry
    // Title & Excerpt below the image
    and nine test posts each with a different creation date, Jan-Sept (1-9) and the display order either in ascending or descending order, but the results are in order. I recall that you had tested by disabling your plugins and I don’t see any custom code in your functions.php, so I’m not sure why your site would have a order issue with Flexible Masonry and we are not able to reproduce this.

    Best regards,
    Mike
