    Hi there

On the page http://paro.com/fr/produkte-uebersicht/ or http://paro.com/en/produkte-uebersicht/ we have the problem, that one user receives error messages when clicking on a portfolio item. It shows him a “Page not found” Page.

On my browsers it works all fine and i don’t see the message. I read different threads about flushing permalinks, which i did already (changing, resaving, changing again, saving again and so on). It’s always the same for this specific user. He also deleted cache, which didn’t change anything.

I use wpml 3.1.9.7 on the website, which could be a source of the problem too. What i see on his screenshot he sent me is that his url displays like this: paro.com/fr/apercu-des-produits/ and in my browser: http://paro.com/fr/produkte-uebersicht/ (which is the correct slug, when i look in the backend)

What could that be? Why is he seeing a different url than me?
Thanks for your quick support on this!

    Hey!

Ask him to check on another browser to discard.

I asked him and he tried internet explorer, which he never uses normally. And there it was also not working!

    What could that be?!

    Hi!

Can you post a screenshot of your view in one portfolio item? when i open one i get an empty page (not 404 though). Also, what happens if you disable WPML?

    Regards,
    Josue

It looks like the ajax portfolio should look: Link to image

I don’t know what happens when i disable WPML, because i don’t see the problem anyway. Also it’s a live website and i don’t really want to disable it for a longer time.

Probably it’s only an empty page the client sees not a 404. I don’t see it, as i said.

    Thanks for your help.

I’m now seeing the same as yours, it’s strange, can you ask that user a screenshot of what he sees exactly?

    Regards,
    Josue

He sent me this: screenshot of user

What other plugins do you have activated apart from WPML? try setting the Permalinks to the default option and check if the user can access it via:

    Josue

“Contact form 7” and “BackWPup” and “Types – Complete Solution for Custom Fields and Types”.
Okay, i have to try that on monday. What would i do, when it works with default option of permalinks?

    #462216

We’ll know the problem is related to that, also while you try that, discard the following too:
    – Enable default WP theme
    – Enable Enfold parent theme

Strange thing: The user says it now works with the french version, but the english is still wrong.

Now i asked for a new screenshot of this and it’s the following:

    His URL is: http://paro.com/en/products/#2676-paro-dent-250ppm-f-mundspuelung-en
    My URL is: http://paro.com/en/product-overview/#2676-paro-dent-250ppm-f-mundspuelung-en

I have no idea, why he’s seeing the url only with “products” instead of “product-overview” as it really is in the backend.
Where are these slugs saved? He also encountered this problem on samsung smartphone and tablet.

    Thanks again for you help!

Can anyone help me with this matter? It’s still open.

    Hi,

Can you please check if the issue persists with the default WordPress theme activated?

    Regards,
    Josue

Not sure how to do that, because the default wordpress theme surely doesn’t have a ajax portfolio and will just display me a [shortcode snippet], right?

    #463858

    Hey!

Yes but there’s no way the 404 error is coming up from an individual portfolio item opened with AJAX, because that doesn’t generate an actual page (or URL), it opens on top of the /products/ page, so the test would be to make that user access /products/ with the default theme activated.

    Josue

Sorry, just checked with the user again this morning and it now works. As i have no clue what it could have been, i let it be as it is.

Thanks for all your support and ideas. Hopefully the problem never occurs again.

    Great, glad it’s fixed :)

    Best regards,
