Hi All,
I resolved the following problems by going back to the Classic Editor, which can be selected at the bottom of the Theme Options page. Unselecting the block editing features of Gutenberg, resolved these problems, which were extraordinarily frustrating: I have full functionality of the theme back now.
–Disappearing content after saving page: I created new content on an existing page, published the page. When I viewed the revised page, the new content had disappeared, as well as some of the previous content. Upon loading the editor, the content was gone from there also.
–Revisions: The only recent revision available was the one just done, the one that destroyed my content, and the only other revisions were ones done several months ago, even though I had revised the page within the previous two days. Recent revisions were available for other pages I had not revised. Also the list of revisions was nowhere to be found.
–Preview: The preview function was broken.
After switching to the Classic Editor pages save with new content, the revision list is accessible at the bottom of the page, and the preview function works.
Like many others, I love Enfold and hold multiple licenses. The issues with Gutenberg’s block editing impacted my profit and ability to meet deadlines.
I appreciate so much this great theme and your continuing, wonderful support! I hope the info here helps others. It may be that the Gutenberg block editing has advantages, which I don’t know about, so if anyone can direct me to pros/cons info, I would be grateful.
Thanks everyone!V.

Great, I’m glad that you got everything working. There are still some problems with the new WordPress editor unfortunately, we are working to get them all fixed.
Best regards,

Thanks for the feedback, please let us know if you should need any further help on the topic.

RikardFebruary 20, 2019 at 1:47 am #1069233This sounds like a problem I just PARTIALLY FIXED by reverting back to the classic editor too. The preview button was leading me to some super old revision or something – files that looked like enfold but not my webpage. But if I hit the update button, and then viewed my site I could see the most recent version with my current edits. So this week I was hitting the update button every time I made a minor change and then had to open a new page just to look at my changes, it was annoying not having the preview button but I didn’t feel like dealing with a support request. Now I have no choice because a new issue happened, my home page edits are all gone.
Out of nowhere after updating some page edits and then viewing my page all of a sudden it didn’t look like my website at all. my entire front page edits are gone. So I went to check out my revisions – I have 70 recent ones. None of them are looking like how my site looked at the time/date of the revision. It’s as if my entire page has to be re-created. I don’t understand why I have 70 revisions I can click on and open, and they all look like some incomplete website. The other pages are intact but I am afraid to edit them now and will look into turning them into templates or something to preserve them. But Right now I am wondering what is the point of having revisions if all of a sudden my home page edits have disappeared and all revision links take me to the same incorrect version of my website. Any idea how to get my home page back to how it was? Why is this so dysfunctional?
February 20, 2019 at 3:59 pm #1069504Hi neoroofingsolutions,
Your problems are likely due to the new WordPress block editor. Could you try to update the theme to 4.5.4 and then select the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options to see if that helps? The update to 4.5.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/
Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/
If that doesn’t help then please open a new thread and include admin login details in private so that we can have a closer look at your site.
Best regards,
RikardFebruary 21, 2019 at 6:51 am #1069793This reply has been marked as private.February 21, 2019 at 7:57 pm #1070080I had all of the same issues except that my revision list has remained with faulty content that looks nothing like my website nor the demo page I built it off of. So after updating everything and switching back to the classic editor, I am still missing my entire front page and nothing has improved, which is devastating for my project, and unacceptable.
February 25, 2019 at 10:36 am #1071193Hi neoroofingsolutions,
Thanks for the update, though I see that you haven’t set a home page in the theme options? That is the likely reason for your home page not working, please publish the page (it’s a draft), then set it as the front page in the main page of the theme options.
Best regards,
RikardFebruary 25, 2019 at 8:01 pm #1071449Hi there, Please read the details I submitted in ticket 1070080 – nobody has acknowledged my serious dillemna. You are incorrect – the problem is not that I have my home page set as a draft. my problem is that there is nothing left of my home page and your team refuses to give me any steps that acknoeldge the missing edits and faulty revisions. Please explain how switching my front page from draft to published will magically make all of my front page edits reappear and make all 70 revisions accurate again?
Your team keeps giving me steps to complete while contently dodging the topic of my website front page completely disappearing. I changed the setting to draft AFTER all of my issues. the problem you need to solve here is RETREAVING what is missing. Please do not give me any more instructions with awkwardly long delays that don’t actually relate to my problem. I am extremely stressed at this point because of your team’s failure to use any language related to my missing edits and revisions. telling me what “should” fix this is not sufficient when your steps don’t even mention retrieving me original front page. You honestly think that switching it from draft to published will all of a sudden make my old front page appear? Please tell me how exactly this is going to solve everything? The front page you are suggesting I switch to “publish” looks like nothing… and all of the revisions are listed but also look like nothing. Please take this more seriously. I provided you guys with my login info on February 21st and you are just leaving me here hanging.
February 25, 2019 at 8:06 pm #1071452My front page still looks like absolutely nothing. It disappeared over a week ago. Your team refuses to look into this disappearance, and just keeps stringing me along with instructions that have no resolution and no mention of how or why the suggested steps will suddenly make my front page reappear as it looked before all of my work disappeared into oblivion. I am insulted at the last set of instructions. this is upsetting. I have already troubleshooted the obvious steps. Someone needs to do some serious work to remedy this.
February 25, 2019 at 8:20 pm #1071454I followed your instructions and published my front page. So now I have an embarrassingly faulty front page for the public to look at. What is your next suggestion? Your advice neither helped me retrieve my correct front page that has been missing for over a week, nor have you given any steps that use any language pertaining to my actual problem. Your solution now has me sitting here with a faulty page that public can see – how id you think this was a good idea? This is the reason I set my front page to draft, so the public does not look at this random faulty front page that is not actually anything close to my original customized website. Surely your team has an intelligent and logical solution that I haven’t already thought of.
February 25, 2019 at 8:22 pm #1071456Nobody has acknowledged this ticket. I am upset.
March 1, 2019 at 5:27 am #1072873Hi,
Thanks for the update, I can see a demo page on my end when I view your front page. So I’m assuming that is not correct? If the revision is not there anymore then I think you will need to recreate your page/content. Could you post screenshot of what you are seeing on your end and how you would like to change it please?
Best regards,
Rikard -
