    Hello – after bad experience during automatic update to WP 5.4 / using Enfold 3.8
    it was ending up in a complete disaster / crash.
    • avia -ayout was not loading at all at the backend,
    • to set start-page to standard layout was not possible a fatal page error was reported (without information)
    • all cleared and reload the backup (manually) – now back to WP 4.7.16 and Enfold 3.8

    ALL restored – but:
    backend: avia / enfold layout editor is not loading!
    fronted: page is not loading (permanent clock wheel)!

    Now the question for the best solution:
    • purchase Enfold 7 first (last version 2020) – y/n?
    • install new version (enfold 7) and update later to WP 5.4 y/n?
    • change start-page settings to standard-layout y/n? (to eliminate Guttenberg running)

    Will this be a safe way to proceed?

    Hey Robert,

    Sorry for the problem. The update to 4.7.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

    You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/

    If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.

    After you have updated then try to activate the Classic Editor in the main page of the theme options.

    If you already own a license then you don’t need to purchase it again, just download it from your Themeforest account.

    I would try to update the theme first, then WordPress itself.

    Hi adverpro,

    Yes, you will need the key to update now. The next version of Layer Slider will be available with Enfold update and for that you will not need the key for the Layer Slider.

    Hi Robert,

    Well, we do not have an ETA yet. The Layer Slider works as it is, so it should not be an issue that it is not updated yet. Are you using the Layer Slider? Is it causing any issues?

    Hi adverpro,

    The plugin shows that it needs an update, which it does, but it still works as it is normally. The update is coming with one of the theme updates and yes, we are still working with the Layer Slider.
