GuestHello
I have been asked to look after a site with enfold as its theme – the old web design company have provided the latest files for me to upload files but not the theme purchase code. The advanced editor is showing up blank – meaning no changes can be made to the site. Ive looked through the forum and can see a few users with this issue. Can I purchase a support licence or similar (the clients site only went live in feb 2020 so the old company would have had an inital support licence in place)
If you could advise.
ThanksSeptember 14, 2020 at 12:25 pm #1245736Hey kvb,
Please send us a temporary WordPress admin login details and login URL so that we can have a closer look at your site. You can post the details in the Private Content section of your reply.
You can only get access to the support forum if you own a license at Themeforest, and have a valid purchase code, but we can help you out here for now.
Best regards,

Thanks for that. Could you try updating the theme to the latest version (4.7.6.3) to see if that helps please? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update. If you don’t have access to the theme files on Themeforest then you would need to get access from the person who bought the license, or purchase a new license.

GuestHI Rikard
Thank you – do I just upload and overwrite the files – as they have a child theme? Despite being a web designer for quite a few years – I have never used enfold (it looks amazing and once I have the advanced page editor working – I cant wait to check it out properly!) – so I just don’t want to overwrite anything.
Thanks again & as before I appreciate your help & time with this – it always says a lot about any business when they offer assistance to a future customer!
September 16, 2020 at 6:08 am #1246165Hi,
You can use a plugin like this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/, or upload the files manually using FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/install-enfold-theme/#ftp-install. If you use the FTP option then you can upload the new files to a folder called enfold_new for example, then rename the current theme folder to enfold_old, and then new one to only enfold, once the upload if done.

GuestI normally just ftp up :-) I just didnt want to overwrite anything the previous company has done and wasnt sure if an enfold theme update would overwrite configurations & or if these would be kept.
So I’ll just copy to a dev server & test
Thanks again
September 16, 2020 at 11:06 am #1246260Hi kvb,
Only enfold theme files are overwritten during the theme update and does not include settings as it is saved in the database.

Just let us know if you need further assistance on this topic.Best regards,

What you’re seeing is most likely incompatibility issues between Enfold 4.6.2 which you are currently using and the latest version of WordPress.
When WordPress release a major version there are things they deprecate and introduce some new functions to use, this is mostly for improvement but it breaks older themes and plugins that’s why themes and plugins must be updated too because we include a fix for it.
The thing you need to do to fix it is to upgrade to the latest version of Enfold 4.7.6.3 which contains patches for WordPress 5.5.
Also don’t forget to have a backup first :)Best regards,

No worries :)
If the name is changed via child theme then it shouldn’t affect anything.
But if it’s the parent theme, I haven’t actually thought of it until now.
If it’s just the folder name that’s changed, I think there are two possibilities, first is that it will work out smoothly (if style.css isn’t changed) the other possibility is it will just create another enfold folder.Best regards,
