Hello,
GTMetrix shows me a very bad grade with lower than 30 for performance.
The most important part on this bad values is, so GTM, this:
(If i change the theme the speed is back to a normal value above 80)

It seems like you have not enabled CSS and JS file merging and compression feature in Enfold theme options > Performance tab.

And by the way: merging either chrashes my website or (when changing other parameters before) just brings almost nothing regarding performance grade (31 up to 34 is almost nothing)chris

by the way – if you are not a registered User on gtmetrix the option will always be:
Analysis Options: Testing in Vancouver, Canada using Chrome (Desktop) with an Unthrottled Connection.For me ( on German Hosters ) it is indispensable to test my site with a server near me. Since my customers tend to be local to me and I only very rarely receive orders from Vancouver. ( btw. the nearest to me is London :lol )
The performance Ratings are totaly different on that fact only. F.e. the TTFB is influenced on that.Hello Guenni,
actually not since it is behind a maintenance-shield and we just open it for speed tests. Its not open for public yet.Its not important if you test from Vancouver or TakkaTukkaland as long as you just watch the increase or decrease of the perfomance results after changing settings.
The parameter “location” stays the same and so you can tell if the measuremnts you have taken were useful or not.
Besides that: The results of Google Pagespeed Tool didnt look any better – even worse.Chris
on Performance this will be important – the Structure value is on this more important.
But you are talking about speed on top.I got performance ratings on one page between 66% and 96% ( C to A) – but the structur value stays nearly the same 87% – 97%.

What kind of server are you using apache? or NGINX?
Most NGINX servers prevent the built in script merge loading. I have experienced this with WPEngine hosted sites. They seem to ignore the script merge when it is enabled (even after the cache is cleared with the CDN disabled).
Third party plugins like WP-Rocket will still work. However the server will likely be http2.0 meaning that script merging is not so crucial.
Try using Google Chromes built in Lighthouse testing set to mobile with throttling turned on. It gives better ‘lab’ conditions and because it is browser based it can work on test servers.
You can then cross reference it against GT Metrix, Page Speed Insights and WebPageTest.orgJust my honest opinion:
I have +30 Websites build with Enfold for my clients and myself and all of them have gtmetrix ratings between lowest B 88% and highest A 99% for performance and 75% to 100% for structure, most of those sites have plenty of images, slider, galleries,… on their home pages.Enfold is not responsible for the rating you are getting and I think it is unfair to say so.
Optimize your images, choose a decent server, make use of the great tools Enfold has build in I promise you will see you performance rise.Also I want to add: Being client for some years, I also can only praise the outstanding support I received on this forum. Sometimes it takes some days until support comes back to you but I never was let down.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and for using Enfold. I have the same experience as you; it’s rare that any theme is solely responsible for a slow loading site, it’s usually a combination between them being poorly optimised, and on budget hosting solutions.

RikardSorry to put my nose on this topic, but being a long-time Enfold user with multiple sites as well, I have zero complaints about the support. You guys really rock and don’t make our lives miserable by complicating the access to the forum, and always try your best to find a solution.
In all these years, I have never received a “no, it is not possible” answer from Enfold’s support.
Now, to help anyone with “low speed”, first of all you need to look at your server. On a cPanel/Apache server, my speeds were also slower. I gave a try and compared the same sites (by cloning them) into Nginx and Engintron and the speeds increased immediately. By the way, all servers were in the same datacenter, so it is not about the distance, etc. It is about the server setup.
Then I tried it with CyberPanel (LiteSpeed) and the results were the best I found so far. I am not a network admin so I could only do what I learnt over the years, and by checking some documentation online.
Since we are all in WordPress here, use WP-Rocket, Imagify and Perfmatters (possibly a CDN as well?) as they all improve the speed and cache works great with this combination. Again… as per my experience.
Oh… and did I mention the great support from Kriesi? These guys are great!! Not joking!!
