    Hi,

Two days ago, suddenly upon clicking on the “Pages” section in the admin dashboard a “504 Error. Gateway Timeout. ” error started to appear. So editing pages is not possible at the moment. Everything else (also editing the Posts) works fine and the site is online and seems to be fine.

We thought that the issue may be linked to not having updated Enfold to the latest version (currently running 4.2.). After having initiated the update, it couldn’t complete to the following error messges:

    Updating Theme Enfold (1/1)

    Downloading update from …

An error occurred while updating Enfold: Download failed. A valid URL was not provided.

Any idea where the problem may be?

    Hey liapos,

Sorry for the problem. The update to 4.5.x has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541

You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or use a plugin to upload the theme zip file: https://wordpress.org/plugins/update-theme-and-plugins-from-zip-file/

If that doesn’t work then please delete the old version of the theme, then upload the new one. Make sure that you have backups of the site before you start updating.

Also please read this after you have updated: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/theme-registration/

    Best regards,
    Rikard

Rikard thank you for your reply,

just a question: Is or may the 504 error be related to Enfold or the update issue or does it have a different root cause?

    Thx for the help

    Hi,

A 504 error is a server error response code, what it’s due to is very difficult to say though. You would have to look through the error logs to see exactly what is triggering that. Do you know which version of PHP you are running on the server? We recommend 7.1 or higher.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

504 Error is solved (database repair on server side) and Enfold is updated to the latest version (old version deleted – new version manually installed).

Mobile and Chrome seems to be working fine. But Firefox, Edge and Explorer not. The page starts loading but doesn’t show up. Any idea for a solution? Urgent help needed.

    Hi,

Have you tried to clear cache on those browsers and check again. It cant be that a web site is working for some browsers and others not, especially in such issue.

    Best regards,
    Basilis

Yes, cache is cleared but it doesn’t help. Have you tried to load the page in Firefox and Chrome so that you can see the problem?

    Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. I get the same problem on my end, I’m not sure why though, but I do see some error messages in Firefox when inspecting the page. Please see private. The second one looks to be related to Autoptimize, I’m not sure about the first one unfortunately.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

In case someone else encounters the same weird problem that the site is not working with some browsers (here Firefox, Edge, Explorer): The issue could be resolved by removing the child theme and installing it again.
