  • I have had the same problem, and tested the wordfence deactivation. This is the culprit.

Unfortunately, wordfence is not something I can leave shut off due to known malware on my host.

here is my +1 for this.

    enfold v. 3.5.3
    wordpress v. 4.5
    wordfence v 6.1.4

I’ve updated enfold to 3.5.3 and WordPress to 4.5. I also use the WordFence Security plugin and it is current as well.

I use enfold on a bunch of client sites. On my homepages I have either the advanced Layer Slider or a Full-Width Easy Slider and a bunch of columns with text blocks and images. Pretty standard stuff. When I click to edit my homepage, the Advanced Layout Builder just sits and spins and doesn’t load any content for editing.

I deactivated all my plugins and have discovered that it is when the WordFence plugin is activated, the ALB malfunctions.

The strange thing is that this seems to only be happening on my homepage and not the other pages.

    Anyone experiencing similar?

    Hi there

Since the last Enfold, WordPress and Wordfence update I have had some issues with my websites that I have designed using the Logo and Main Menu – Left Sidebar option. the main content isn’t centering even though I have that option selected in the Content Alignment – Centre Content.

the sites I haven’t dont the updates too are working fine – so I dont want to update them – which isn’t good.

    Cheers

    Hey!

We are sorry but we do not test with all those plugins.
Although the issue with WordFence is intrested so can u please also poke the Plugin developers, if they can help with it, while we also check it?

    Thanks a lot

    Hi,

the last Wordfence version, broken the theme Enfold, i have try several times and configuration also disable or delete.

    Time line:
    – Upgrade WordPress to 4.5, work.
    – Upgrade Enfold to the last version 3.5.2, work.
    – Upgrade Wordfence to last version, broken theme.

I have been to several installations and changing the process, the result is the same, Wordfence breaks the theme Enfold.

Would you please test and fix ? I posted the same in Wordfence support, hoping that both reach a solution.

    Regards

    In reply to: WordPress 4.5

Wordfence has also released a new update. I noticed if you enable the new firewall option it stops showing slider rotator, easy slider, etc.

I dont have the new wordpress or enfold installed as yet…Just a thought?

    #608272

ok Try again. I desactivate Wordfence Security.

I have been trying to trace a problem with a plugin needing an update. WordPress tells me there is one, but doesn’t identify it. I’ve traced it down to the Enfold theme.

WP tells me that the theme is up to date. I’ve manually uploaded the latest theme package. Nothing makes a difference.

    Hi!

    Glad it is sorted!

Word defence do a great job but in the settings you have to check if the minifying options can be disabled so you don’t end up having the same issue again. https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordfence/

As per your request i am sending u temporary admin login. Please note this is live site and also we have wordfence plugin installed for security reasons.

You need to access first the Admin Security – see my private data above.
Nevertheless, some IPs are blocked by Wordfence which tried to login with wrong data.
Please try again, I have no other idea what might cause this; Elliott and Ismael had no problems these days to access my site.

I found many pagination questions in the forum but none that address my specific issue. I’ve included a private link to my site where pagination won’t advance to the next page in the blog, it keeps reloading to the first page of posts. It is placed there using the advanced editor as Blog Posts placed into a Page. I’ve tried different Permalink settings, fiddled with other pagination suggestions I found but nothing so far has had any effect. WordPress, all plugins and Enfold are all updated to latest versions. The site uses Wordfence basic caching but neither on or off seems to make no difference. The posts being called run in a custom post type created with the Custom Post Type UI plugin by WebDevStudios.

Thank you for taking a look!

    Hello!

Please note that this kind of questions are beyond our support scope. That being said i’d suggest you trying out one of these services/plugins:

    Hi Ismael,
Thanks for checking. We limited the website through wordfence only to users in the US. we had so many hacker attempts. I guess Ill just have to use the plugin slider until the doctors decide to upgrade their computers. Thanks so much for your responses. I love enfold!

    Hi, Basils

The only thing I can think of is that I installed the WordFence plugin and that did not seem to load properly and hence had to deactivate it and rename the folder in the plugins directory.

    Any help is much appreciated.
Can you see the problem when you login?

    Thanks
    Sara

    #569395

Hi Rikard – yes i found out that Wordfence was breaking this so i adjusted a setting in wordfence and now its ok :) Thanks!

    #568945

Ok. will remove the background.I believe that was standard with the demo set up for Churches. I do use caching with .wordfence. What does that have to do with a background color?

    Hello,
My site broke a month ago due to either caching plugin, minify, and or security while using enfold theme.
I will assume it was due to a minify or similar. Site was really slow so had to do something.

Please be aware, I’m just learning stuff and not very experienced at all this yet.

    1) With that said, if I use BWP minify plugin what plugin for cache should I use with enfold as I have seen both listed here on the forum.
Better WordPress Minify with WP Super Cache or w3 total cache? Which is better for compatibility?

    2) Also, what security plugin works best least likely to break enfold with those plugins that you might name?
I would like to use free version of wordfence.

I had a nice site and it breaking was a lot of work down the drain for a only slightly knowledgeable WordPress person.

    3) Finally, if I have to edit the function.php with the following code where in the function.php do I add it?:
Add this on functions.php if you install the BWP Minify plugin:
    Begin code:

    add_filter(‘bwp_minify_style_ignore’, ‘exclude_my_css’);

    function exclude_my_css($excluded)
    {
    $excluded = array(‘avia-custom’, ‘avia-layout’);
    return $excluded;
    }

    End code;
This will exclude layout.css and custom.css, two of the css files that usually breaks the site when included on the compression.

The site is being rebuilt from scratch so not much on it yet.

    So please provide:
I will need a common practice for each site I use enfold on…
The safest least risk but best speed.
So please detail the steps and how to do it for best effect on any wordpress site that I will be using enfold on…
    Security plugin
    minify plugin
    cache plugin.

I will of course follow another post i found on forum for optimizing images too.
I will probably NOT use a cdn.

    thank you in advance…
    Tina

    Hey!

I’m glad we could help you get back your site!

There are some security plugins you can use like Wordfence you need to use it on your own risk as Enfold do not guarantee 3rd party plugins.
Also just google “WordPress better security” and you will find some helpful tips. All this should be performed with a backup of your site just in case if it cause any mess we always need to be safe.

No, one language (French), I update 8 websites with Enfold and 3 have the negative message problem but the settings are taken into account.
The sites have very different configurations (WooCommerce, Mailpoet, WordFence, Sucuri, Revolution Slider, etc …), I test more PHP 7 support for some minutes. (that boost WP very nice!)

Hello, I run WP (Current version) with Enfold theme hosted on Go Daddy and use Wordfence plugin. It worked fine until the last couple wordfense updates. Now I have no “live traffic” for humans only bots show up. Also most wordfence links do not work now.
Wordfence works properly if I change to 2015 theme. Below is what wordfense had to say about it. Please help.

“Usually issues with the links at the bottom of the options page are caused by the site’s theme. If the theme handles requests before the normal time, it “takes over” any links that have a query string like “yoursite.com/?somequery=value”

The live traffic is also probably affected by the theme. We did have a change a few versions ago, to work with some new changes Google had implemented in crawling, and it also uses query strings for this tracking. Some themes also ignore the built-in “wp_head”, which can cause only the live traffic issue, but this is less common.

Usually theme authors can fix this if you ask about it. If you need to confirm that this is the issue before contacting the theme’s author, you can try temporarily switching to a theme like “twentyfifteen”, which handles these in the normal way. (Past visits on Live Traffic won’t be affected, but if you can visit the site in a different browser where you are not logged in, you should see those visits logged as humans if it is working.) ”

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Please do contact them and maybe try a service like WordFence or Sucuri.

Let us know if you have any questions.

I am using SMTP on the website. I am using the plugin called WP-Mail-SMTP and I can successfully send test emails from the plugin. We are also using wordfence and that plugin successfully sends emails as well.

    Look forward to your reply.

    Hi there,

As we know, Layerslider comes automatically with Enfold, but it is not kept updated along with Enfold theme updates.
Q: Is this going to present a security issue possibly, as those who (like me) don’t utilise this plugin, will inevitably fall behind with its upkeep…?

Just a thought, as this came up as a discussion in Wordfence (security plugin) forums.

I would prefer to NOT have it installed at all, but as an additional option in future Enfold releases.

    Regards,
    Stevo

    Hi!

I can see that you were able to place an order, but I can’t figure out how. When I try it just doesn’t work.
Using Firefox I get the error message: SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data
With Chrome the error message goes: SyntaxError: Unexpected token <

Several customers have also complained about the broken checkout.

I deactivated Wordfence security and still got the same error message…

    Please help!

    Thank you
