    Hi,
Please try removing the code that you added to the functions.php and enable the theme editor menu item so we can see if there is anything else in your functions.php that could cause an error:
    Enfold_Support_5441.jpeg
Typically the iThemes Security plugin is what hides the menu item but this plugin shows an error when I check.

    Best regards,
    Mike

hast du ein Sicherheitsplugin installiert? Sowas wie “iThemes Security” – dort gibt es diese Option ( unter WordPress Optimierungen ) es ein/ab zuschalten.
Etliche Security Tools haben diese Option.

Thank you for your reply, I will reach out to iThemes Security.

    Regards

    Hi,

Thanks for that. The only fatal error I could see in that log looks to be coming from ithemes security, please see private. Please try reaching out to their support for further help.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

Well, I am not sure if Enfold is the problem. Just exploring different options. Link to the log file in private content. Thanks for taking a look.
The log is created after trying to acitvate iThemes Security Pro and WP Media Folder. In only tried to activate these two plugins. The backend gives a looong list of errors, and the frontend i turning grey.

    Regards
    Nina

    #1416177

When turning off debugging the site appears to look normal, but there is 10 plugins that can’t be activated without crashing the site. Giving the error of “Critical error on this site…” iThemes Security Pro is one of them.
Also editing pages in backend does not work, it just seems to be spinning and not doing much more.
I tried to install a new plugin, but that does not work. Just tells me there is a critical error on this site…
Not sure what would cause this problem.
Any ideas on how to move forward with this?

    Regards
    Nina

    Hey Andreas,

    Thank you for the inquiry.

Both plugins should work fine; however, we recommend Wordfence because many Enfold users prefer it over other security plugins. You can see the distinction between the plugins by looking at the number of search results here in the forum.

I want to install a security plugin on my Enfold site and I’m considering iThemes Security or Wordfence.

    Any preferences?

Much like this other ticket (#1377649)
We are also “trying to update / fix an old install” and also “unfortunately a child theme was not used and it’s been heavily modified.”

We received notice from iThemes Security that versions under 4.8.3 have an XSS vulnerability and we’re currently on v4.2.4.

If we can get a download link to the latest v4 version after the vulnerability was patched or can be pointed somewhere to grab it (and hopefully other versions so we can better debug any errors that arise)

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
This looks like it’s from your iThemes Security log, I don’t see anything helpful in it.
Try checking your webhost server error log, if you are not sure where to find it ask your webhost for assistance.
Also please try enabling WP_DEBUG, please see these installations.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi,
Thanks for the login, I see that none of your pages are displaying either logged in or out, same with your posts.
Please try disabling all of your plugins including the iThemes Security Pro plugins and leave them disabled, except the “Tijdelijke login zonder wachtwoord” so we can still login.
Then try re-installing WordPress to ensure that none of the core WordPress files are damaged, you can easily do this at WordPress Updates:
    Enfold_Support_373.jpeg
I have not seen this before.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hey Mike,
No my host doesn’t automatically update WordPress. iThemes Security Pro Or Sync do this.
Latest check was: version: 6.1.1; Februari 12, 2023 at 15:23.

    Aloha Rikard,

Message in WordPress re Theme Update:
No Updates available. You are running the latest version! (4.6.3.1)
Manual Update shows the same, no update available.

    PHP Your PHP version: 7.4.33
When I update PHP the whole site crashes, and I need to go into recovery mode, and revert back, see the error messages in my initial post.

This is my problem, I cannot update PHP and therefore the iThemes Security Pro plugin reports the theme to be a vulnerable software at every site scan since PHP 8 was released.

    Known Vulnerabilities
    Enfold Theme < 4.8.4 – Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS)

    Any recommendations?
    Marion

Il mio template non carica immagini, dopo aver messo il codice analytics e alcuni plugin: AddToAny Share Buttons – iThemes Security – reCaptcha by BestWebSoft – SiteGround Optimizer – Wordfence Security – Yoast SEO.
    Puoi aiutarmi. Grazie anticipatamente

    Hi,
Thanks for the feedback, when I login I see the builder, see the screenshot in the Private Content area, but when I try to update the page I get an 500 Internal Server Error, as this is a server response try checking your server logs to see if there are any clues. I would recommend disabling unnecessary plugins such as your iThemes Security, Limit Login Attempts, etc to ensure they are not causing the error and then test again.
I was able to copy your page to my test site and didn’t receive any errors so I don’t think it is the content or the builder, is this only occurring on this page or others also?
please check your webhost to see if you have the one click staging site option, this is a option in most cPanels to create a staging clone of your site so you can test on it and your site will stay up and running. You can always ask your webhost to help you with setting this up if you want.

Here are some screenshots of what it would look like:
    staging-1.jpg
    staging-2.jpg

    Mike

    Hi,
Thanks for the login but I’m only getting a server error 500 when I try to login, please try disabling the iThemes Security plugin.
Now that I see your login url includes ?itsec-hb-token= I recognize your re-authorization issue as a result of using this option from the plugin, I believe that with this plugin you must delete it to restore the default settings, disabling it is not enough.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi stoneroad,

Thanks for giving us admin access.
Disabling of Theme Editor was caused by one of the settings in iThemes Security.
I have enabled the Theme Editor by going to Security > Settings > WordPress Tweaks > File Editor, then uncheck Disable File Editor

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi Support
My client is daily receiving password resert alerts.
The site is secured with ithemes security and 2FA softwares.

Can this be a system error or is it brute force attacks?
Would WPS hide plugin be usefull? Should the XML-PRC authentucation be disabled?

    Many thanks

    Hi Rikard,

Ok, I wasn’t aware of this but iThemes Security obviously blocked the editor. You now have access to the editor.

If you prefere I can still give you ftp login details.

For now I will leave it to you, but just for my information: can I switch between parent theme and child theme without loosing all settings? I did that once in the beginning that I worked with Enfold and had to start all over again. I know I can make a backup of the Child Theme’s settings but at the time I did that, that wasn’t the case I believe. That’s why I never dared to do that again…

Looking forward to your further info.

    Best regards,
    Monique

    Hi Jordan,
I don’t know, would ithemes Security disable the editor under Appearance?
    Thanks,

    Hey Ismael,

as I wrote, the sender email address of the mail is no-reply@… and then my domain. I posted it again in private content area. SPAM protection is activated with iThemes Security. I had sent the login details to the website.

What explanation do you have for that? The case has already occurred frequently? Possibly a technical problem? Can it be excluded that requests via the form will be lost?

    Best regards,
    Mathuseo

    Hi Rikard,

We have the same security plugins (iThemes & Sucuri) on over a hundred sites that show the updates just fine. I temporarily disabled to check but the update still did not show.

    Kind regards
    Amanda

Thanks for looking at the problem mike. It seems to be as simple as first accepting the cookies on the site. You can then log in without problems. So it has nothing to do with the Ithemes Security or WP Optimize plugins. The merging of the js and css also has nothing to do with it. After the latest update from Enfold, the Enfold cookie alert ensures that you must first accept the cookies before you can log in. I tested this on the other sites. This was not necessary before the last update from Enfold. So the problem is Enfolds cookie notification. I am happy that my customers and I can log in again. Perhaps it is useful to mention this as a note for people who still have to update. Thank you very much for the help.
