Topic: Enfold newbie training to create a website just like the demo
in forum Enfoldwstb
ParticipantHello guys,
First of all just wanted to say thank you for the developers to create this great theme. I really love it!
I have a question which might be laughable for most of you guys here..
I had no experiences with word press until recently having the need of creating a website of my own. Right now I have been learning and have a good understanding on the word press dash board but when it gets down to creating a website on my own using the theme it still makes my head spinning.
I am wondering are there any directions you guys can point it to me so I can learn and be able to create my own website just like the demo site. I am looking for beginner step by step articles or training videos to duplicate the demo site on my own.
Any help would be much appreciated.By the way, I do not know where to ask this and since this is one of the few sites I trust I would like to know if any of you guys know a good source to get a custom designed logo? Any trustworthy website I can go to get in touch with some graphic designers to get the logo created. Paid service of course!
Thanks again.

3. You’ll probably get some other folders alongside with the actual theme (documentation, etc), the folder you need to upload is the one named ‘enfold’, and the destination would be in the /wp-content/themes folder of your WordPress installation.

Is it safe to use Filezilla? I’m afriad that my old MAC computer does not have any secure software.
So basically I need to
1. Firstly unzip the themeforest file (save it on desktop)
2. Sign up for Firezilla (key in STFP infor; host name/ username/ password)
3. Transfer information from my desktop (theme) drag and drop on the right hadn side (wordpress server) on Filezilla
4. Activate the theme?Lastly, if I don’t want to use filezilla to upload the theme to wordpress and so on. Is that other way to install the theme??
March 2, 2014 at 6:42 am #231215In reply to: Black Header / Menu in IE9
Hi – I tried that – but still had black header and transparent menu background – even tried adding !important.
FYI – I made sure W3 cache was cleared – and also cleared browser cache on IE9 machine.
As I mentioned – unchecking CSS Minfy in W3 resolves this issue – but we should be able to minify the theme css files….
****There is another issue when CSS Minify is enabled with Enfold – W3 has trouble caching the pages (the W3 verify code in page source disappears)
So I don’t know if it is a W3 issue or Theme issue – but I don’t have the issue with another theme (just an FYI and not a slam – I love the Enfold theme!)March 2, 2014 at 5:50 am #231206In reply to: Woocommerce missing translations
Hey fortuneRice!
You can use this plugin: http://wordpress.org/plugins/codestyling-localization/
Look for the Enfold theme then edit the language that you want to translate. Look for the strings using the string search field.

IsmaelMarch 2, 2014 at 5:20 am #231197Hey jmikhail!
Please download the latest version of the theme. The elements like Fullwidth Easy Slider, Fullscreen Slider and Color Sections are capable of adding video backgrounds on the latest version of Enfold. Use that instead of the LayerSlider.

in forum EnfoldJason
ParticipantHi there,
I know this has been asked before, but I’m not seeing the code references mentioned in historical posts.
So, do I still modify sidebar.php & if so, what code?
Lastly, this doesn’t seem like the best way to do this, what happens when I update the theme – I’ll obviously loose those changes.
Child theme?
If so, have any directions on how I do this ‘correctly’ with Enfold?
Many thanks,
JasPS: I’m running the latest version.
Ok, just found this re Child Theme :)

Thanks, but your link is not taking me anywhere. I just get the spinning loading gif.
I did find the page http://kriesi.at/themes/enfold/shortcodes/gallery/ as an example of what is possible.
Is there a tutorial on making blog posts? I have tried making a gallery with the Post Format > Gallery and then using Insert Shortcode from the “Kitchen Sink.” You know, the icons above the Content pane. This is the short code.
[av_gallery ids='268,266,267' style='thumbnails' preview_size='portfolio' crop_big_preview_thumbnail='avia-gallery-big-crop-thumb' thumb_size='thumbnail' columns='3' imagelink='lightbox' lazyload='deactivate_avia_lazyload']And this is the test post – http://www.kennethbsmith.com/clients/abww/gallery-post/
Why don’t the thumbnails fit into three columns? This looks Wack.Isn’t there a tutorial on blog posts formats? This is going to be very difficult to explain to my client.

Hi David!
The website is not loading on my end. Can you please post a screenshot? I’ll ask the rest of the support team to check this.

IsmaelMarch 2, 2014 at 4:00 am #231170In reply to: Enfold > Hide on responsive
Hi David!
You can set the element to display: none using CSS then insert the code on a media query. You can find an example on css > custom.css:
/* Mobile Styles ================================================== */ /* Note: Add new css to the media query below that you want to only effect the Mobile and Tablet Portrait view */ @media only screen and (max-width: 767px) { /* Add your Mobile Styles here */ img { display: none } /* This will remove all images on mobile devices */ }Best regards,

Hi!
You can watch some videos here to learn more about the theme: http://vimeo.com/channels/aviathemes/64927359
What do you want to do with the blog page? You can edit the blog style on Enfold > General Settings > Blog Style. The option will work if you set the blog on Enfold > Theme Options > Where do you want to display blog? option. If you want to add more content on the blog page other than the blog posts, you can deselect the blog page on Where do you want to display blog? option. Edit the blog page then add the Blog Posts element along with the other content.
Best regards,
IsmaelMarch 2, 2014 at 3:11 am #231162Hey!
Please give us a link to the website and post the login details here. Set it as a private reply. You can just add the Blog Posts element without configuring anything and the posts should show immediately. Make sure that you set the frontpage on Enfold > Theme Options > Frontpage settings. Reset the settings on Settings > Reading to default.

Hi!
Can you please give us a link to the actual website? The testimonial slider has been fixed on the latest version of Enfold. Download version 2.5.4 on your themeforest account. Update the theme via FTP. Watch this video by Devin: http://vimeo.com/channels/aviathemes/67209750

@zedduo Love what you’ve done with the IncyWincyCollege one, but the main page with the slider does break a little on different window sizes. In fact, for anything that’s not exactly 1440px wide, it doesn’t really work.
See: 1440px wide, looks fine: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9486700/Incy-1440px.png
But narrower https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9486700/Incy-small.png
or wider https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9486700/incy-large.pngand it breaks.
March 2, 2014 at 1:55 am #231147Hey condonpb!
Please ask your host to check the php version. The PHP version 5.3.27 FastCGI can cause issues somehow and switching to 5.3.27 CGI (Stable) may fix the problem.

Thanks Peter. Is there a topic that explains more about serialized data? If I restore both the database and all FTP files again and see don’t have my Theme Options could this be in part to serialized data?
When I customize the Theme Options in Dashboard after having a child theme set up does this write to the stylesheets inside wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia? I have 2 stylesheets in here. One is enfold.css and another is a css file named for my child theme.
Thank you!
March 2, 2014 at 1:13 am #231142In reply to: Enfold Woocommerce billing address page
Hello Ygit,
i noticed a little problem after i put the code you said to me
.woocommerce-page .button { clear: both; }
Now on the product page i have the “add to cart” and “show details” buttons one under another and not on the same line, if i remove that code they go back on the same line. How can i affect just the billing page and not the product one?Thank you!
Alex
March 1, 2014 at 11:36 pm #231137I second Rhodo’s point…I tried putting my copy of this file in the same structure in my child theme and none of the changes work. I have to keep updating the parent theme version. Is this a change to how WP handles the ordering in child themes? The docs on the WordPress codex are a bit arcane for anything that isn’t strictly page templates or css.
March 1, 2014 at 9:26 pm #231133Perfect! Thank you Peter!! Google powered search rocks! misspellings, semantic matches so much superior
Here’s some CSS adjustments to the Google results page I made that may help others:
.gsc-resultsHeader {display: none;}
.gsc-orderby-container {display: none;}
.gs-bidi-start-align {padding-left: 7px;}
.gsc-thumbnail{padding: 8px 0 11px 8px;}Customization to results styles can be made at your Google CSE interface.
Subscribe to the ads-free results and you may also remove Google branding:
.gcsc-branding {display: none;}Note in search.php I inserted the google search script in lieu of the existing search replacing lines 21-47:
<section class="search_form_field"> <?php echo "<h4>".__('New Search','avia_framework')."</h4>"; echo "<p>".__('If you are not happy with the results below please do another search','avia_framework')."</p>"; get_search_form(); echo "<span class='author-extra-border'></span>"; ?> </section> </div> <?php if(!empty($_GET['s'])) { echo "<h4 class='extra-mini-title widgettitle'>{$results}</h4>"; /* Run the loop to output the posts. * If you want to overload this in a child theme then include a file * called loop-search.php and that will be used instead. */ $more = 0; get_template_part( 'includes/loop', 'search' ); } ?>Hope this will help other Enfold aficionados :)

March 1, 2014 at 7:21 pm #231119In reply to: Custom Conditional Logic for Hide/Show Menu Items
EDIT: What’s below doesn’t really solve my problem, I’m giving it as an example to possibly further assist with getting a “real” solution to the problem.
As a “hack” to get around this, I’m currently using the following code in my header.php file, just above the closing head tag:
<?php if(!Dap_Session::isLoggedIn() ) { ?> <style> #menu-item-1858 {display:none;} #menu-item-1728 {display:none;} #menu-item-1867 {display:none;} #menu-item-1849 {display:none;} </style> <?php } ?>Where the given menu items need to be hidden (there are others, this is just an example) if the user is not logged into DAP. It’s working, but not when the menu is in “mobile” mode (my theme is set to be responsive).
Ideally, I need something to modify the Enfold conditional logic to allow for the “dap is logged in/out” condition and not just the “wp logged in/out” condition.

March 1, 2014 at 7:01 pm #231117Topic: Custom Conditional Logic for Hide/Show Menu Items
in forum Enfoldcrazyflx
ParticipantI had a similar topic open here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/entire-menu-disappearing-instead-of-select-items-with-membership-plugin/ but am opening this one because the topic and how I think I’ll need to tackle the issue has “morphed” into something a bit different.
I need to hide/show menu items based on the following logic (that comes from having another plugin, a membership plugin, installed):
if( !Dap_Session::isLoggedIn() ) {
//HIDE CERTAIN MENU ITEMS
}
else {
//SHOW CERTAIN MENU ITEMS
}I tried using the “Menu Visibility Control” plugin here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/menu-items-visibility-control/ which allows for using custom code/functions to hide/show menu items (for instance, on another site I run, I simply entered: !Dap_Session::isLoggedIn() within the “Visibility” option that appears for each menu item.
However, that plugin doesn’t seem to be compatible with the latest version of Enfold I’m running, as the “Visibility” option does not appear for each menu item.
I see that Enfold has it’s own available conditional menu logic available/built in, which I have activated after following the directions here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-conditional-menu/
However, the conditional logic is limited to logged into/out of WP, along with user roles. I need to hide/show menu items based on whether they’re logged into/out of DAP (digitalaccesspass, a wordpress membership plugin).
The following code, when DAP is activated, returns whether a user is logged into/out of DAP:
Dap_Session::isLoggedIn()
Is there any way I can get the Enfold conditional menu logic to work with that check, instead of the WP logged in/out check?

Enfold does have support for conditionally showing menu items, see here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-conditional-menu/
March 1, 2014 at 6:31 pm #231102Dear Yigit,
Thanks this code works but only in the main Enfold theme. How can i do this in the child theme?
Your answer:
You can modify class-framework-widgets.php file and paste it in /framework/php/ folder in your child theme
Doesn’t work.

March 1, 2014 at 6:26 pm #231100Topic: Woocommerce missing translations
in forum EnfoldfortuneRice
ParticipantHi guys,
I’m using the latest Woocommerce 2.1.3 with Enfold, with Woocommerce Multilingual 3.2.1. The problem is there are a few places where I can’t figure out how to translate. The bulk of the translations is provided by woocommerce multilingual automatically, and some I use WPML String Translation to search for them, but there are still a few missing. For example, the “Show Details” for each product widget. Where/how do I access the complete list of strings? Thanks.
March 1, 2014 at 6:04 pm #231096Hello Dude,
I, again, appreciate the help. Getting over this last hiccup will be the last thing I need help with as my site will be complete.
I checked your two provided links, and while they don’t completely solve my issue, they did help…indirectly. I’m thinking I can use enfolds conditional menu check (which I’ve successfully enabled) with DAP’s “is logged in?” check. I just need to hide menu items if the user is not logged into DAP (regardless of whether or not they’re logged into/out of wordpress).
DAP uses the following check to check whether a user is logged into/out of DAP:
if( !Dap_Session::isLoggedIn() ) {
//DO SOMETHING FOR USERS NOT LOGGED INTO DAP
}
else {
//DO SOMETHING FOR USERS LOGGED INTO DAP
}Now that I’ve enabled the conditional menu functionality within Enfold, I see that one of the conditional options is “hide/show if user is logged into/out of WP”
Is there any way to use the DAP logged in/logged out check instead of the wordpress logged in/logged out check?

Thank you for creating this theme! It has been so fun redesigning our website with Enfold. For now, it is mostly default, but I especially like how well the “tour” page turned out. I am sure more tweaks will be made to the site over the coming weeks, but it looks so much better now.
