Dear Enfold Team,
we are using the search block on our homepage. It works great with the live search, however on mobile the search input loses focus whenever the AJAX query executes (after 3 characters).
**Expected behavior:**
The search bar should keep focus after the AJAX request so users can continue typing without tapping again.**Actual behavior:**
On mobile, the input field loses focus after each live search update.Kind regards

I see that you are running an old version of the theme, could you try to update to the latest version (7.1.3) to see if that helps please? The update to 7.1.3 has to be done manually from the version you are running, please refer to my replies in this thread: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/enfold-4-5-theme-update-update-failed-download-failed-a-valid-url-was-not-pro/#post-1021541
You can either update manually via FTP: https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#theme-update, or upload the theme as if it was new under Appearance->Themes->Add New Theme.
If that doesn’t work then please try to delete the whole theme folder, then replace it with the new version. Make sure that you have backups of the site before starting updating.

Thanks for your question, glad to hear that you have a full backup prepared, including the database, while we don’t expect any issues updating from v4.8.3 to v7.1.3 (lastest version) since Enfold mantins a good backward compatibly, we would note that your PHP version, 7.4.33 is quite old and some plugins (if any) may not work well with PHP v8+ Enfold now uses PHP v8+ as well as WordPress so you should expect to also update this.
I recommend creating a staging site to test the update on.
Then on the staging site, disable all plugins including any caching plugin and server caching & the Enfold theme caching in the Performance theme settings.
Then update to v7.1.3, and reload the site on the frontend using the browser “hard reload” to clear the browser cache. This will help clear the “post-css” files which serve the css background images in the color sections (if used).
Then update your PHP to v8+, I recommend the lower end like v8.2 or such, not the “bleeding edge” highest version like v8.5, you can test this later if you wish.
If you are using a child theme and have modified header.php, footer.php or any other core theme files in the child theme, please save these to your computer and remove them from the child theme, these will be different in the current version & will most likely cause an error when updating.
When you update, you may not be able to update though the theme panel “update” feature as just about v4.8.3 Envato (Themeforest) changed from the API key to the Token key, so the best approach is to download the latest installable WP version from your Theme Forest account and upload it to your WordPress ▸ Appearance ▸ Themes ▸ Add Themes ▸ Add New, after you choose the zip file and click install, you will see a This theme is already installed message because you are updating, you can continue. Then you will see the Theme updated successfully message.
After updating see our documentation for creating an Envato Token so future updates can be done in the theme panel.
If you try to update via FTP, do not try to overwrite the theme files, as this will leave old files behind and cause errors, you would need the delete the old theme directory and then upload the new one, using the WordPress ▸ Appearance ▸ Themes ▸ Add Themes ▸ Add New is the easiest solution.Best regards,

I’m working on a client’s website and need your guidance before proceeding with a major update.
Current situation:Enfold version: 4.8.3 (last updated around 2020)
WordPress: 5.9.12
PHP: 7.4.33
The site has been running without major updates for approximately 5 yearsWhat needs to be updated:
Enfold: 4.8.3 → latest version (6.0+)
WordPress: 5.9.12 → 6.8.3
PHP: 7.4.33 → 8.3My concerns:
I’m worried about such a large version jump potentially breaking the website. The site is live and actively used by my client, so I need to minimize any risks and downtime.
My questions:Is it safe to update directly from Enfold 4.8.3 to the latest 6.0+ version, or should I update incrementally through intermediate versions?
Are there any known breaking changes or compatibility issues between version 4.8.3 and 6.0+ that I should be aware of?
What is the recommended update sequence? Should I update Enfold first, then WordPress, then PHP?
Will existing layouts built with Avia Layout Builder continue to work after the update?
Are there any specific settings, customizations, or files I should backup or document before updating?

I plan to reuse elements from multiple demos to build a custom layout.
in this case – maybe my method of getting the enfold shortcodes from pages by downloading the xml files of the demo.

Open it in a good text editor (f.e. on Mac sublime text – on windows pc’s use notepad++)now you can search for “isPermaLink” (without the quotes) in that xml

Or even more specifically, search for the title of the desired layout you want to transfer, e.g.,

Hi, I used a staging domain for developing my website, but unfortunately, I activated the Enfold theme license on that domain. Now that I’ve migrated the site to the main domain, I can’t activate the license again. Could you please tell me what I should do?

Thanks for the information, although it doesn’t reassure me at all since this site, like the others using Enfold, is on the same server and in exactly the same hosting environment. And the others are working fine.
I’m going to change my server at the end of the month to a newer one, and I’ll see what happens then.

Hi Rolland,
For your information, the ob_end_flush() warning is not related to Enfold. It comes from PHP’s output compression settings on the server. Please ask your hosting provider to disable PHP zlib output compression or handle gzip compression at the server level instead.

Hi Ismael,
That css doesn’t seem to work. I had injected custom code into the function.php file to get the search bar to appear above the mobile menu but I’m looking for the icon to appear in the header, I’ve removed the custom code to ensure there’s no conflicts but it’s still not working. The plugin used is Fibosearch which is set up to use Enfold’s search bars which works great on desktop but I can’t get the default one to appear on mobile. I’ve had this problem previously with other sites and have had to use custom code but I need the Enfold default one to be visible here because of Fibosearch. I have tried to add their shortcode to the top bar but it really messes with the styling of the layout, it would be much better to have the icon in the space to the left of the logo.

sorry, I forgot to unlock the file editor in admin, now you can see for yourself what modifications I made in the child.All file sizes for all images are present in the upload folder. I’m afraid simply replacing the current images with newly generated ones won’t help Enfold find the correct format. Normally, thumbnail image tags have the classes “attachment-widget size-widget.” In my case, it’s just “attachment- size-“.
I don’t know where Enfold gets the string “widget” from. I think I destroyed this necessary value somehow. Perhaps the value of this required meta or option entry can be restored using some filter like ‘admin_post_thumbnail_size’ or directly in the database. Or am I wrong?

I do not want to enable file compression and merging.It should be made clear that
File versioning for resources added by the theme will only be enabled when the compression and merging options are turned on.
for example, by graying out the option if file compression and merging are not in use, so the user do not waste their time in useless tentatives.

1. You have the content in a 1/4, and then what looks to be an empty 1/2 to the left of it.
2. Content will be displayed within the container width, you can set that under Enfold->General Layout Dimensions.

Thanks !Hi, for some websites, I’ve seen the menu text reduce in size as the browser window gets smaller. This would be useful for tablet responsiveness as well as just someone that had their browser window not opened as much. Is there a way to make the Enfold menu text reduce in size as the browser window reduces or a way to avoid the menu items stacking on each other? I do realize my menu has a lot of items, and I might need to lose a menu item. Still, wanting to find the best solution so it doesn’t get jumbled. URL in notes.
