Hey willemb2,
Thank you for the inquiry.
The theme automatically generates a thumbnail called “entry_without_sidebar” for single posts and the thumbnail has a maximum size of 845x321px. You can adjust it by editing the functions.php file directly or with the following plugin.
// https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/
You can adjust and regenerate the thumbnails in the Settings > Media panel. The plugin is a bit old but it still works well.
Best regards,
Ismael
Enfold Support,
I’ve been able to remove the player controls, which leave a static “play button”. See the videos from my site here: https://newcreationsforchrist.com/about/
As you can see, the “play button” covers up some of the thumbnails. It’s better than displaying all of the player controls, however, I want to add a play button where it only appears on mouseover of the thumbnail. Is this possible with WordPress (i.e. Plug-in, etc.) / Enfold?
Here is another site that implemented this feature: https://www.holyspiritspeaks.org/testimonies-categories/overcomers/ – scroll down and you’ll see images with a time frame – mouseover those images and you’ll see the play button display. This is what I was hoping to duplicate on my site.
Thank you for your help.
Hello friend, now that I realized that the results are not clickable, see:
https://www.portallinhares.com.br/?s=marcela&numberposts=5&results_hide_fields=
Is there any way to show the thumbnail too?
Ismael,
Thanks again for following-up on this.
“the cropping option for registered thumbnails”
I have no idea what “the cropping option for registered thumbnails” means. Is this a setting or tool that we can apply to the image?
The only image-related plug-in that I have installed is a copy-protection plug-in. To me, that seems unrelated.
A thought: let me share a screenshot from the site’s media library. This is the single result for a filter search based on the name of the original image “Pacifico_42”:

If my memory of the old system serves, the upload tools created three-fold images of the original upload. Am I correct? I think they were named something like this:
- Original_image.png
- Original_image_122x122.png
- Original_image_428x312.png
When I used Enfold’s Export tool to migrate the site to the new server, it recreated only the “Original_image.png” for the new install. (In case it is important, since WordPress seems to use absolute links, I had to mass-change the references in the database using MySQL.)
Are the thumbnail galleries reliant on this “122×122” “428×312” system?
If so, I should be able to (theoretically) develop a batching strategy for correcting this.
Hi,
I was actually referring to the cropping option for registered thumbnails. Most of the thumbnails that are generated by the theme are automatically cropped to the exact dimension, while few others are not. But this does not matter anymore since both option that you tried is not working.
Did you install an image optimization plugin? What happens when you disable it?
Best regards,
Ismael
Hey,
Thanks for contacting us!
Please go to Enfold theme options > Shop Options and enable “Enable Banner for product category pages” and then go to Product > Categories, edit the categories and upload Thumbnails and use them as banner :)

Hi Ismael,
I contacted the plugin author again and asked him about the wp_get_attachment_link function. This was his answer:
“Thanks for taking the time to contact the Enfold support team and for posting their reply. It looks like they have not understood your question/requirements.
The wp_get_attachment_link() function returns a hyperlink that contains the item thumbnail image and links to the “Media Page” for the item. MLA uses it for the link=page parameter. This function has nothing at all to do with finding the items that participate in a masonry gallery and attaching them to their parent post/page.
What you want is a solution that:
Finds all the masonry gallery shortcodes in the site,
Executes each shortcode to find the items it returns, and
Attaches each item to the post/page containing the shortcode.
The above will work for galleries that are dynamic, e.g., display items having a particular taxonomy term. If the gallery items are fixed, i.e., the item ID values are stored somewhere the solution would be to find the ID values and then attach the items.
Either solution requires more information about the Enfold masonry gallery than I have. I would be happy to work with the Enfold people if they want to contact me at my web site.
I regret the confusion but I will help if I can. ”
My Support Ticket
I extra paid for your support again, so I would really appreciate if you could help me!
David, the plugin author, is a very nice man and would like to solve this problem, but he would need your help because of the masonry gallery.
So it would be very very helpful if you could contact David to help him with this.
I think I am not the only one for whom this solution would be very helpful!
This is his website: http://davidlingren.com/
Thank you in advance!!
Best regards

Hi, Ismael. Thank you for the response.
Here is my follow-up on your two suggestions:
1.
For the page’s Styling > Grid Settings > Portfolio Grid Image Size setting I have tried both options.
Changing these does not seem to make a difference.
2.
For “thumbnail” are you referring to the “featured image”?
In regard to the featured image, I have seen no “cropping” tool.
I have also tried to remove, then replace, the featured image. No cropping tool is presented during this replacement process.
Is “cropping” a setting somewhere? I can’t find it in the docs.
Are you maybe suggesting that I crop the thumbnail/featured-image outside of WordPress/Enfold?
Thank you, and best regards.
Kenneth

Hi,
Thank you for the inquiry.
Did you set the Styling > Grid Settings > Portfolio Grid Image Size settings to the second option? Please try to set it back to the first option or make sure to select a thumbnail with cropping enabled such as the masonry element thumbnail.
Best regards,
Ismael
Hi,
You may need to select the original version of the image or the full-sized version. Items in the masonry gallery element display a thumbnail called masonry by default, which has become a static image without the animation after uploading. To adjust the image size, you can edit the enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-shortcodes/av-helper-masonry.php, go to line 726 and replace “masonry” with “full”.
$img_size = 'masonry';
However, please note that selecting a different thumbnail size for the masonry gallery may affect its layout or the masonry size settings.
Best regards,
Ismael

Before I could see the thumbnail of the post, but now I can only see my “favicon” or the logo of my banner in the header. Do you know what I can do to fix it? I really appreciate your time, and excuse me for asking in another section, I don’t speak English very well.
Hello,
Some thumbnails on product pages are not cropped in square format. Do you have any idea where the problem may be coming from?
You can see the problem here : https://selectiondugout.fr/produit/colis-decouverte-aveyronnaise/
Thank you in advance,
Best regards,
Audrey
Hi,
Glad to know that it is working.
Unfortunately my image quality is very poor,
Since you are using a plugin to create the gallery, you may need to toggle an option or adjust a parameter in order to display a different thumbnail size. Please refer to the plugin documentation for more info.
To apply the changes to a specific gallery, try to add a custom css class name or ID to the gallery element and adjust the css selector .gallery with it.

Hi Ismael,
I have tried this:
1. completely re-uploaded new images
2. used the media replace plugin to replace the existing images
3. used the regenerate thumbnails plugin
The original size of the photo ( the last photo that i tested ) is 500×900 pixels. I get that this is not a square photo, but i will be relying on clients uploading these images so i can’t manually crop photos for everyone. I just need the featured image to not crop photos, even if it means having a smaller photo.
Hi guys,
I am having a little trouble with the GALLERY..while everything works (masonry or easy slider etc), Whenever I use a gallery, the images are lined up instead of displaying a gallery. Please check the private section for better explanations.
Thanks,
Namgyal
Hi,
I have an issue where the Product List formatting is messed up if using links within the product description – even when the description is hidden.
I have the description hidden within the product list using .av-catalogue-content {display:none;}
But if there are links in the description the product title and price appears on the line below the thumbnail where all other products (without links) are on the same line.
I can see with inspector that the a tag appears to be closed then reopened but can’t see a resolution. I guess a way of cleansing the content of description within the Product List is needed, despite the fact I’m not showing it?

Hey,
Thanks for contacting us!
1- Please go to Enfold theme options > Blog Layout > Blog Styling and choose “Modern Business”
2- Please add following code to Functions.php file of your child theme
add_filter( 'avf_modify_thumb_size', 'enfold_customization_modify_thumb_size', 10, 1 );
function enfold_customization_modify_thumb_size( $size ) {
$size['square'] = array('width'=>195, 'height'=>195);
return $size;
}
Then regenerate thumbnails using this plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/
Best regards,
Yigit
Hi,
Thank you for the update.
Did you re-upload the images or regenerate the thumbnails after adjusting the size? What are the actual sizes of the images that you are uploading? You can use the same plugin above to regenerate the thumbnails.
Best regards,
Ismael
To whom it may concern,
Is there a way where I can add the thumbnail featured image separately than the content image in the blog posts. Or maybe have the functionality so that the featured image in certain posts can be displayed as the thumbnail but nor part of the content ?
Regards
On the Newsroom page: https://www.asian.estate/the-news-of-the-real-estate-in-thailand/ I can’t manage to align the Masonry image thumbnails of the posts on the left, when a new post is created. As you can see the last post is centered ?
I can’t find the necessary CSS on the forum or in the Enfold documentation.
Thanks in advance
Hi,
Thank you for the inquiry.
Did you change the size of the Large thumbnail in the Settings > Media panel? You may need to regenerate the images or upload them again after the size adjustment. The following plugin should help with the thumbnail regeneration.
// https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/
Best regards,
Ismael
Hi.
How do I link directly to portfolio displaying only entries from a selected category?
I know there is a link to categories from the WP menu, but it displays a page that is acting differently than my regular portfolio page (the thumbnails linked to a page rather than expanding the image or video).
I would like to either get an option to link to a selected category directly on the portfolio page (that would be a proffered solution) –
I guess something like …/video-brochure-gallery/?cat=Nonprofit
Or somehow modify this page …/portfolio_entries/Nonprofit/
Is that possible?
Thank you
Hey Peter,
Thank you for the inquiry
They are probably referring to this css code.
#top .gallery .gallery-item {
margin: 1px 1px 0 0;
width: 80px;
height: 80px;
padding: 0;
}
You can override it in the Quick CSS field or in the child theme’s style.css file.
#top .gallery .gallery-item, #top .gallery .gallery-item img {
width: 300px;
height: 300px;
}
You may need to select a different thumbnail size for the gallery because it is currently using the smallest thumbnail, which has a maximum width and height of 80px.
Best regards,
Ismael
Hi. I know this has been covered, but I cannot make it work.
How do I link directly to portfolio displaying only entries from selected category?
I know there is a link for categories from the menu, but it displays a page that is acting differently than my regular portfolio page (the thumbnails linked to a page rather than expanding the image or video).
I would like to either get an option to link to category as noted above (?psort=manufacturing), or edit the page based on the link from the “Portfolio Categories” page.
Is that possible?
Thank you
I want to display 3 columns of thumbnails on mobile for Masonry Gallery. Now is 1 column on mobile. I have Masonry Gallery on home page. Is that possible? How to do that??

In order to get this to work Unofficial workaround. Please backup the file before trying.
Working example
https://www.midlandcontrols.co.uk
Set the logo in the theme panel to Full Size! Do not choose a thumbnail size!
Delete this line 625 from function-set-frontend.php
if( $dimension === true )
{
/**
* basically just for better page speed ranking :P
* Be sure to return a valid attribute string.
* Will be removed when image dimension is responsive
*
* @since 4.8
* @param string $dimensions
* @return string
*/
$dimension = apply_filters( 'avf_logo_dimension', 'height="100" width="300"' );
}
Delete the code below Line 684
{
$resp_attr = Av_Responsive_Images()->html_attr_image_src( $logo, true );
/**
* https://kriesi.at/support/topic/logo-srcset/
*
* Bug that WP removes scrset and sizes when width and/or height is defined
* @since 4.8.3
*/
if( false !== strpos( $resp_attr, 'srcset' ) || false !== strpos( $resp_attr, 'sizes' ) )
{
$dimension = '';
}
$logo_img = "<img {$resp_attr} {$dimension} alt='{$alt}' title='{$title}' />";
$logo = "<{$headline_type} class='logo'><a href='{$link}'>{$logo_img}{$sub}</a></{$headline_type}>";
}
Replace with:
{
$resp_attr = Av_Responsive_Images()->html_attr_image_src( $logo, true );
$logo_img = "<img {$resp_attr} alt='{$alt}' title='{$title}' />";
$logo_img = Av_Responsive_Images()->make_image_responsive( $logo_img, attachment_url_to_postid($logo), '' );
$logo = "<{$headline_type} class='logo'><a href='{$link}'>{$logo_img}{$sub}</a></{$headline_type}>";
}

Thank you Ismael for this answer. I just made the change and it works very well. Thank you. However, every time I update Enfold, I will have to put this code back. Is there any way to add a code on Enfold child that I work with?
I have, if I may, 2 other questions that I can’t figure out on this same asian.estate site.
1. on the Newsroom page: https://www.asian.estate/the-news-of-the-real-estate-in-thailand/ I can’t manage to align the image thumbnails of the posts on the left, when a new post is created. As you can see the last post is centered ?
2. On the page https://www.asian.estate/home-4/ which has a transparent header, I just want to put the logo on this page which is on all the other pages with non transparent header. Please tell me what to do, I can’t find it on the Enfold forum.
Thanks Ismael
it is a wordpress limitation : 2560px – all images bigger than that will be recalculated and saved as xyz-scaled.jpg ( or png etc )
– Enfold creates some image-formats for their used elements ( see functions.php line 185ff : sizes )
– on functions.php lines 246ff – you see that for these images a compression level is set to 100% – : no compression.
That is the reason why the original jpg ( with 2560px width) might be smaller in file-size as the recalculated 1500px image ( featured_large or extra_large ).
You can set this compression level by a small snippet in child-theme functions.php:
e.g. for compression level 55%:
add_filter("avf_jpeg_quality", "avf_set_quality_mod", 9999, 1);
add_filter("avf_wp_editor_set_quality", "avf_set_quality_mod", 9999, 1);
function avf_set_quality_mod($quality) { $quality = 55; return $quality;}
This will only influence the uploading process. If you want the existing images have the same compression level you might use a “regenerate Thumbnails” Plugin afterwards.
__________________
PS: you can influence this big image threshold via a filter : big_image_size_threshold see here: Link
f.e.:
function increase_big_image_size_threshold( $threshold ) {
return 3500; // new threshold
}
add_filter('big_image_size_threshold', 'increase_big_image_size_threshold', 999, 1);
Hi,
Sorry for the delay.
1.) This should still be possible but the changes should be done in the themes\enfold\config-templatebuilder\avia-shortcodes\av-helper-masonry.php file. This is the new file for the masonry shortcode or element. The code can be found around line 737.
$this->loop[ $key ]['url'] = get_permalink( $id );
The developer should be able to add the previous modification after that.
2.) Looks like the original image is displayed in the masonry item instead of the masonry thumbnail. We also noticed the ?lossy=1&strip=1&webp=1 parameters in the image URL. Did you install an image optimization plugin? What happens when you deactivate the plugin temporarily?
Best regards,
Ismael
