Hi – the theme won’t let me set a feature image for either posts or pages. When I try, the media library appears empty (with one broken image thumbnail) even though there are images in it.
If I select ‘upload files’ and drag/drop to upload, I get a red error message on the right “an error occurred in upload please try again later”. (If I then look in the media library via the main WP menu on the left, the image I tried to upload has in fact been uploaded successfully.)
…but there appears no way I can set it as a feature image.

OK, at least I understand your (Kriesi’s) way of thinking. I agree it does look nice, just a shame most galleries I ever create have more images than fit on a single screen! I suppose I could use the thumbnail with larger image layout but I prefer having decent sized thumbnails that don’t necessarily require the user to enlarge to get a feel for what they are looking at. Thanks for taking the time to explain though!

Thanks Dude. Unfortunately, using px widths means I can only go to about 200px before it screws up when viewed on smartphones (goes of the side of the screen), which is a little too small (need about 400px for my ‘thumbnail’ images). I guess I’ll have to live with it unless there is something else I can do?
On a similar subject, is there any chance the caption is going to be added back into the lightboxes in future updates? It’s a bit odd not to be able to caption a lightbox image.

It’s not possible to change the tooltip width based on the thumbnail width because the width is “hardcoded” with css. However you can change the current tooltip width to any other width – insert following code into the quick css field
.avia-tooltip {
width: 180px;
}and adjust the width value.

Afaik Kriesi added this gallery effect because it looks nice and if you’ve just some images in a gallery (and not a complete page of thumbnails) it makes sense. For now we won’t implement this code into the theme files because we like the fade in effect…

I have implemented it and it seems to work, but my question is, why hasn’t this been written into the code for us? It doesn’t make any sense to have to scroll down a complete page of thumbnail images before you get to see them not greyed out! Now I may have to amend the code everytime I do a theme update, so is there a good reason this fix hasn’t been applied to the code for us?

Been trying to find the CSS for the gallery thumbnail tooltip width (the tooltip that displays the image caption). Can’t find it using Firebug. What custom CSS do I need to add to have the tooltip be 100% width of the thumbnail image to which it relates?

You can only change the color of the thumbnail background is transparent – otherwise you need to change the background by editing the image. Use following css code to change the slideshow background

I am having an issue with thumbnails not being the same size in my gallery.
It is also not formatting correctly and there are big gaps in the thumbnail grid
How do I fix it so all thumbnails are the same size and there are no gaps in the grid?

Building a new site using Enfold and I prefer the default gallery (because with the Enfold gallery the thumbnails get too small as the site scales down for mobiles), and the lightbox function does not seem to work. Any ideas?
Hi Nick,
it was the first one you mentioned which was not set correctly! In the Enfold > Theme Options I had not selected any page in the Blog section. Now that I set “Blog” each first image in each post appearing on the main blog page is no longer centered, as it was nicely before with the nice author circular thumbnail appearing below. Now the image is on the left. How do I make them centered again all of them?
Besides, there is again something that I don’t seem to understand: if I select the Blog page in the Enfold > Theme Options as per your screenshots, now the page shows again not just the list of blogposts with the excerpt as it was before (which is exactly what I wanted). It shows each article complete, one after the other, and without any possibility to add comments. I just simply want it to revert to the way it was before, so I guess I will “unselect” the Blog page in the Enfold > Theme Options, because I am currently getting a few visitors to the site and I don’t want to mess up too much!
I’ll wait for your advice on how to fix the image and excerpts displaying as you will see them now that I will again “deselect” the Blog page option, rather than on the left (the image) and the full articles on such page.

I would like my thumbnails all to be in the square format. currenty it is not cropping and just resized. so if the image is not square there is a grey space on the bottom.
Is there a way to fix this?
I am using WP-Types plugin to create s custom post type called “engineers”. I create a page under “home” called “engineers” with a brief bio and thumbnail of each person. The thumbnail links to each individual custom post type “engineer” page. So the structure is Home -> Engineers -> Engineer Bio but the Breadcrumb is Home -> Engineer Bio. And I don’t want to have an archive page. Any help in how I can create this would be appreciated.

You are using photon.js which is resizing your images. I think that is part of jetpack plugin. Please turn off jetpack as in my experience that plugin is responsible for a quarter of all support issues or at least turn off its image resizing.

Have the 3 main plugins of WPML running. translation management, string translation + main plugin.
To use copy, when you make and save the original text, scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will see a number of radio buttons with 3 choices as seen below. Make sure that you set Copy for the ones i listed below and click Apply right next to the radio buttons

What’s interesting is that at that moment when you click copy content, even though nothing can be seen , it really is there. just click publish or save draft and when the page refreshes again you will see that indeed everything copies over.
So just remember to save as draft as first thing you do in order to make everything show up.
check the radio buttons for copy, thats the key to the whole copying business. I tested it and it copies perfectly, including the ajax bit.

Did you change the blog layout? It seems like you’re using the grid now. However in functions.php search for:
$avia_config['imgSize']['entry_with_sidebar'] = array('width'=>710, 'height'=>270); // big images for blog and page entriesand increase the width value. Then regenerate the thumbnails with: http://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/

thanks for your elaborate explanation (and time!). We had also been thinking about this solution (but didn’t try it yet).
Nice thing is that the roll-over shows whether its a still or a video.
We’re afraid this will not be a practical solution for our problem because we want to place so many stills and videos (several hundreds).
We would have to create separate categories for each still & video and won’t be able to use the categories function in the way it was intended (and would work for us). We also want to have a solution to create projects (with galleries) fast to show client the progress on projects (tests & demo’s).
We think we will contact Kriesi to ask if it is possible to adapt gallery.php (avia) as a commissioned request.
We think it should be possible to use the caption field of the gallery entries as a destination link for a video to show in the lightbox.
We want to created separate thumbnail images with a video icon, so the user knows that it is a video.
If the caption field is empty, the normal attachment (still) should be shown in the lightbox.

Hi guys, I am really happy with the Enfold theme I recently bought. Beautiful!
I am editing the blog and would like to change a few things that I couldn’t locate in other threads:
1. Currently the number of comments and date are displayed in the blog thumbnails in grid layout. I would like to have only author and date – how can that be done?
2. I have comments activated because I want to allow only facebook comments, but no wordpress. As you can see in the following post, both WP and facebook comments are displayed (in fact, facebook comments turned into WP’s). This looks bad and does not make sense. I also would like to remove the word “Comentários”. => http://transforme.is/20-maneiras-de-encontrar-a-sua-vocacao/
