Topic: Video Featured Image
I’m creating a video post type using the wordpress shortcode for TED talks and the TED plugin. However, I want to know how to get the video thumbnail to show up as the featured image, instead of the default post image. I’ve also tried pasting a straight url instead of using the shortcode for TED but still no thumbnail.

Enfold: 3.0.2
Google Analytics by Yoast: 5.0.7The magazine element of the ALB doesn’t work properly with Google Analytics by Yoast plugin activated. When Google Analytics by Yoast is deactivated, both the thumbnails and the titles of the posts are clickable. When Google Analytics by Yoast is activated, only the thumbnails are clickable.
Problem occurs with no other plugins activated. Toggling Google Analytics by Yoast on and off again toggles the problem. Problem seems to be intermittent with version 5.0.6 of Google Analytics by Yoast, I haven’t yet figured out any factors that consistently prevent the problem with 5.0.6.

For SEO reasons, they want to alt in the code but not showing. Is there any way for the enlargements to show the title and not the alt? The roll overs with the thumbnails show the title not the alt…

Yes, it’s the “Featured Image” which should link images into the Thumbnails.
I did update the themes/enfold/functions-enfold.php and the themes/enfold/functions.php.
I went to the Screen Options but enable the Featured Image is not on the list to be enabled. It’s still not visible.
Is there another place in Enfold how to activate the feature, e.g. in the Quick CSS, or something else?Thank you for a hint, best regards,

I’ve customized my blog page using the page builder. I used content elements: blog posts and widget (for sidebar). On the right side of the page where I can make changes, I’ve turned off the sidebar because I don’t want it to show twice. How can I work around this to get the same look as the demo page?
Also, not sure if I should start new topic, just let me know if so…….but when I share my posts via the share buttons at the end of my posts, the featured picture and/or thumbnail doesn’t appear. I do not like the way it appears on my facebook page:

What do you mean by “Thumbnails-Definition”? Are you referring to the “Featured Image” box? Please go to Screen Options then enable the Featured Image.

I don’t really understand how to deal with images and my page doesn’t look like the demo one http://kriesi.at/themes/enfold/blog/blog-single-small/For example I added a feature image for the first post appearing on the page (last one posted) ->
On the homepage it appears in the thumbnail of the Magazine Widget : ok
On the blog page it doesn’t. The thumbnail is still an icon though it’s not like this on the demo. But the image appears in “big” 100% above the post -> on the general blog page and on the post page. I noticed that changing the preview size of the feature image in the blog element doesn’t have any impact -> my image always appears in the biggest size…
1. Can you explain what I’ve missed and how to set thing like the demo ?
2. Is there eventually a way to have the feature image appearing only in the post thumbnail ? So that it’s not automatically added always at the same size and above the post int the post page. As may be I will prefer to deal differently with my images inside each post -> A. to always have the title ABOVE the image / B. to be able to deal easier with the ‘composition’ : for example for post 1 I might want to put the image at the end of the article, for post 2 in the middle (text/image/text), or for post 3 I might want to have 2 images in 2 columns inside of the text etc… See what I mean ?
3. If 2 not taken in account -> how to have always the title ABOVE the image or the video ?Thanks for your help and for answering both 1&2&3 (as 2 is not a definitive choice).

If I enter a featured image in a blog post using the Enfold theme, it seems it uses a ‘thumbnail’ with the dimension: 1210×423 pixels. And as far as I can see it’s set through ‘entry_without_sidebar’.
Actually I’d love to use featured images for showing my panorama’s which have an aspect ration of 3:1. So it would be nice to have featured images of 1210×403 pixels (may be 1200×400 pixels?). Or, since the width of my container is 1130 pixels: 1130×377 pixels. And I don’t like to use thumbnails which are resized by software, but original images in their original sizes.
Issue 1
Can I use the Simple Images Sizes plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes) to change the featured image size? Or is it better to change it in functions.php (like suggested here: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/featured-image-size-and-shape/#post-336197). And how can I avoid the image used as featured image is a resized image?Then: since retina and 4K displays become more and more commonplace, I’d love to use a featured images which is @2x but displayed as @1x. For example: upload a featured image of 2400×800 pixels, which is displayed in an area with the dimension of 1200×400 pixels.
Issue 2
How can this be achieved for featured images?Hi there,
I did upgrade to WP 4.0, installed Enfold and activated it. But the Thumbnails-Definition capability is not visible when I create a post or edit a post. On the Post-blog the Thumbnails are empty, and at the Post Overview-List is the image activated.
As described on the WP Side – tried I to activate the Post Thumbnails.
I added the following command to the functions.php files: add_theme_support( ‘post-thumbnails’ );
~/wordpress/wp-content/themes/enfold/functions-enfold.php
~/wordpress/wp-content/themes/enfold/functions.phpBut it does not work.
In which fie do I have to put it, and is there a specific location in the file where I have to put it?

I want to set up my blog page to look like your “Blog Single Author Small” demo page. Your thumbnail pictures are set to the left side with the excerpt and read more section to the right. And you have a side bar with a line separating your blog entries.
When I set up my page the way the demo page is set up, my thumbnails show above the excerpt and read more section.

Yes, you need to add a featured image for portfolio items in order to show thumbnails on portfolio grid. I’m sorry but we don’t provide support for third party plugins. You can use the Advance Layout Builder or shortcode wand on the default editor for portfolio items which includes a Video element or the code block to manually embed a video.

I have three issues happening right now.
1) In mobile view none of the features images show on the category pages. They only show a short bit of text and the date. See attached screenshot image for reference.
2) In mobile view the dates on showing on excerpts/category pages – I do not want them showing.
3) In excerpts/category pages on desktop view the dates are showing also.

Topic: Vimeo Portfolio Gallery
I’m using the Viper’s Video Quicktags plugin to embed the video into a portfolio item. On my main portfolio page, I used the Portfolio Grid content element. However, I only see titles – no thumbnails.
Do I need to manually create the thumbnails for a video portfolio? And do I even need this plugin to embed the videos?

Bei den Themeoptions Enfold -> Blog Layout -> Related Entries gibt es ein DropDown mit mehreren Einstellungen. Falls ein Post kein Thumbnail hat, kann auch keines angezeigt werden. Ansonsten einfach einmal die Möglichkeiten durchprobieren.

Please edit the gallery element then look for the Gallery Preview Image Size and Gallery Big Preview Image Size. If you want to change the size of the thumbnails and set the crop parameter to false, you can use this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/
