    In reply to: Menu Font Changes

    Hi,

    For the menu you can use this

    #top .main_menu .menu li > a {
    display: block;
    text-decoration: none;
    padding: 0 13px;
    font-weight: normal;
    font-size: 12px;
    font-weight: 600;
    font-size: 13px;
    font-family: Helvetica;
    }

    For the submenu, try this.

    #menu-sub-menu a {
    font-size: 15px;
    color: red;
    }

    Regards,

    Ismael

    Hi,

    You can alter the fonts on the FullWidth EasySlider with these

    .avia-caption-title {
    font-size: 15px;
    }

    .avia-caption-content {
    }

    You can use this for the menu.

    #top .main_menu .menu li > a {
    display: block;
    text-decoration: none;
    padding: 0 13px;
    font-weight: normal;

    Hi,

    What type of header are you using?

    1.) You can remove the magnifying glass via css, please add this on your custom.css or Quick CSS

    #menu-item-search {
    display: none;
    }

    2.) You can apply the menu font styling on this selector

    .main_menu ul:first-child > li > a {
    display: block;
    text-decoration: none;
    padding: 0 13px;
    font-weight: normal;
    font-size: 12px;
    font-weight: 600;
    font-size: 20px;
    }

    3.) What do you mean by “remove the current page from the menu”?

    Regards,

    Ismael

    Sorry about posting in the wrong place. I started out asking a featured post question and resolved it but couldn’t delete the post, so asked my question again about this because I didn’t see you had replied already. :(

    I actually don’t make changes directly to the style sheet. It’s my understanding that the “Quick CSS” is for that. That has worked generally and thanks for that.

    For the slider, in the Full Width Easy Slider, there is not an option to alter the font size or appearance. Cannot view html mode when using the advanced layout feature. Anyhow, my site is not yet launched, so where can I send you the logon for you to take a look? Appreciate your guidance.

    Still have the same question about the bottom navigation. I can’t find where to alter the font.

    Hi,

    Yes. I have an idea that you haven’t looked well for the Xing glyph, since I was able to find it. http://www.clipular.com/c?5946811=zM1_Hm9yLKqfAg_cXwIOP0xZTlY&f=.png (the one with the outline in center) /

    .

    Just go to that website fontello.com and this glyph is in Zocial.

    Now you need to pick the size, and select that one glyph and click download button and you got it.

    In the theme the location of current glyph files is in there: /config-templatebuilder/avia-template-builder/assets/fonts/entypo-fontello-charmap.php

    I would follow these instructions regarding how to add a stand alone glyph as I haven’t deal with fonts much, so reading up as i go.. will ask.. instructions ->. http://css-tricks.com/html-for-icon-font-usage/

    Thanks,

    1) Man muss ein Mega Menu mit 3 Ebenen bauen:

    Die erste Ebene ist der “Hauptmenü” Link – in diesem Fall “Pages”. Die zweite Ebene bildet die Spalte und alle Elemente in der dritten Ebene werden Inhalt dieser Spalte verwendet. Wenn man die Checkbox anklickt wird der Text nicht verlinkt.

    2) Ich würde empfehlen den Text in ein span Tag zu schreiben und diesem Tag eine Schriftgröße zuzuweisen – zB:

    <span style="font-size:10px;">Mein Beschreibungstext...</span>

    10px kann durch jeden x-belieben Wert ersetzt werden und “Mein Beschreibungstext…” ersetze durch die Beschreibung.

    Thanks for this…

    in regard to using a Flickr plugin I have used Slickr Flickr before so Ive set it up and have place some CSS to turn it into a 4 row by 3 thumbnails whiich appear in column 3 of my footer.

    In a previous theme I had help setting up some Java Script to enable me to get the thumbnails to glow on rollover. The theme had a similar CSS window in the theme styling as yours but also had a Java Script window where the script was placed. Where do I put this within Enfold? I assume its a PHP file? do I have to add anything to the code/format to make it work and where should it be placed?

    Cheers

    Here’s the code…….

    Query(‘.slickr-flickr-gallery ul li a’).hover(

    function()

    {

    jQuery(this).stop();

    jQuery(this).animate({‘opacity’:’0.75′}, 200 );

    },

    function()

    {

    jQuery(this).stop();

    jQuery(this).animate({‘opacity’:’10’}, 100 );

    });

    I’m going to copy and paste what another member wrote:

    More flexible Icon-Box – means:

    1. allow the additional use of custom icons

    2. more styling options (background, font size ect…)

    Also:

    Posts: the ability to have the featured image used in the post-listing but hide it in the single-post view.

    Layout Builder: Why can’t we have access to the full shortcode editor inside text elements?

    Layout Builder: The ability to remove padding/margins from page elements

    Simple request: I love the option for sidebar navigation (for nested subpages) but in a site with lot’s of pages (and nested pages) that link across one another, it can get confusing. To aid the user in navigation please can you add the name of the parent page as a header to the nested subpage navigation?

    I’m having a very difficult time with layer slider. My previews look great but when I insert the slider into my homepage the layers in the slider make up their own rules. Image layers are all crowded to the right before they animate in and text layers ignore their positioning and font size properties. So I tried using a different slider (Mega-Slider – pretty new one, just released on codecanyon) and I can’t get it to appear full width. From my fairly limited knowledge of css it appears that the page’s container is what is limiting its size.

    Please tell me what I can do to fix this, or if you have some explanation regarding layer slider’s wonkyness I’ll take that too!

    Hi eswyt,

    You shouldn’t ever change any of the styles directly in the main theme css files. The best thing to do is target the slideshow specifically for that page/slideshow.

    If you can provide a link to the page, we can assist with the new css.

    Hi,

    I haven’t tried using Flickr plugin within the theme but there are lots of plugins available. To name a few

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/awesome-flickr-gallery-plugin/

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/slickr-flickr/

    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/flickr-api/

    You can change the widget title with this

    #footer .widgettitle {
    font-size: 21px;
    }

    And the content with these

    .widget {
    font-size: 14px;
    }

    .minitext {
    font-size: 14px;
    }

    Adjust the value.

    Hi there,

    Can you tell me how to change the size of the fonts in the Footer, namely the widget header titles and main content?

    Can you suggest an easy but flexible Flickr widget that I can use in the footer that will compliment the theme and not screw up everything. Ive tried a few and its just a mess.

    In the Easy Slider, I cannot figure out where in the style sheet to increase the size of the caption text. It’s way too small.

    For the main menu, bottom version, I cannot find where to change the font weight to not bold and the color to blue, not grey.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi Nick (hope you pick this up)

    Here’s my original concept for my personal portfolio

    http://www.clipular.com/users/5811069/boards/concept-web-site—anypeck-01

    If we divide my design paged concept into parts –

    + the Logo part is sorted

    + the Slider is sorted

    + the services part (using entypo) is sorted

    MENU –

    + the highlight and font changes is sorted

    + there is a feint line that appears at the top of the menu which spans the entire width of the menu. Design-wise its only 1 pixel deep, is a light grey and is tucked under the orange 3px solid highlight line. it rests at the top and remains fixed with the highlight line moving along it. Obviously if I change the menu by adding or taking away pages then I want how far the line spans to change accordingly

    + whilst ive altered the text size and spacing between letters how do I alter the space between the actual page text elements (home, contact, portfolio etc…) therefore reducing the width of the overall menu. At the moment it feels far too spread out

    MAIN CONTENT

    + looking at the image – at the bottom of the page, below where it says RECENT POSTS ive created a decorative line that mimics the one above the menu. How could I recreate something like this without resorting to PNG files. Personally id like the thin grey line (not the chunky orange one) to be extendable to any width depending on its use or page layout

    As always

    BIG THANKS for such great support and im really starting to get to grips with the theme and CSS

    Cheers

    Andy

    Hi,

    Use either clipular.com to send screenshots that you don’t need to alter. If you need to add something to screenshot, use https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/awesome-screenshot-captur/alelhddbbhepgpmgidjdcjakblofbmce for chrome. You can always add images and get a link on imgur.com

    In the video when I always paste the css in Dev Tools at the end of existing css, all under the ‘Sources” tab, what I am doing is making sure that the css actually works since by pasting there, I am adding my changed css at the end of the cascade. When you change things under the “”Elements”” tab, you are virtually changing the css but in the position it is normally located in the cascade.

    And no matter how well the Dev Tools have been written, there are situations where bad css and whatnot change things later in the cascade. Thus I don’t rely on my original changes in the ‘Elements”” tab and like to double check them before I paste and save the block of css into my site (or paste it here as an answer to a support request). Its a process of sculpting and tweaking the css to force it to obey.

    *Ok lets end this support request since I think with the video and code, this train of thought is complete and will perhaps help others. That other thing you ask about, please open a new ticket since that should have its own discussion, you can add ”nick” as a tag.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    –– Feature Request: Disable breadcrumbs, not the entire header ––

    Hi,

    in the WP post/page editor, you can currently use the “Header Settings” under “Layout” to either enable or disable the header incl. the breadcrumbs.

    Please add an option to “Display the Header, don’t display the Breadcrumb Navigation”.

    Thanks,

    Andy

    ================

    I second the request from melonmelon:

    More flexible Icon-Box – means:

    1. allow the additional use of custom icons

    2. more styling options (background, font size ect…)

    Hi,

    1.) You can use this

    #top .main_menu .menu li {
    float: right;
    }

    2.) To make the header fixed, you use this

    #header {
    position: fixed;
    }

    #main {
    padding-top: 155px;
    }

    3.) You increase the icon size with this

    .social_bookmarks .avia-font-entypo-fontello {
    font-size: 16px;
    }

    Great video Nick although you had me a bit lost in the middle but im deffo learning from you so thx.

    So tell me… how can I send you an image to explain this ‘feint line thing’?

    Cheers

    Andy

    #117562

    Done it! its getting easier.

    Thanks for the video too….

    Now all I need to do is explain how to actually create this 1px grey solid line that spans the entire menu (Home, Portfolio, Blog, Contact, About Me) and sits behind/at the top of the highlight line we’ve just moved up. I worked out how to make the highlight line 3px deep and adjusted its position

    Ill set up a dropdown menu and check that it all still works. I forgot to mention that my aim is to change the dropdown menu background colors and not change the text. Hence… ROLLDOWN – Background is black, ROLLOVER – Highlight background changes to a deep orange and theres a subtle text colour change too. Ill play around myself and see how I get on

    Is there a way for me to send you an image?

    Once ive done the menu ive pretty much got everything else within the theme as normal. I might want to create a giant slabtext on my home page only but thats it. Just so you know that I wont be sitting on your coat tails for the entire site!!!!!!

    Cheers

    as always

    Hi,

    Put up a menu on your website. Please don’t talk in abstractions and generalities or i will make up my own colors, sizes, etc. I get a vague notion of #6. The rest I think I get. I made video of me doing it. Good stuff for youttube.. Website crashed in middle of video though. I didn’t do responsive since i dont think it will make any difference regarding colors, that flying underscore though probably needs 1 media query.

    /*triangle killer*/
    #top .current-menu-item>a>.avia-menu-fx>.avia-arrow-wrap,#top .current_page_item>a>.avia-menu-fx>.avia-arrow-wrap {
    display: none;
    }
    /*menu top font color off*/
    #top .header_color .main_menu ul:first-child>li>a {
    color:rgb(255,8,8);
    font-size: 1.1em;
    }
    /*menu top font color hover*/
    #top .header_color .main_menu ul:first-child>li>a:hover {
    color:rgb(8,255,255);
    font-size: 1.1em;
    }
    /*sub menu font color */
    #top .main_menu .menu ul li>a {
    color:green;
    word-spacing:1.2em;
    font-size: 1.1em;
    }
    /*sub menu font color hover*/
    #top .main_menu .menu ul li>a:hover {
    color: blue !important;
    }
    /*sub menu background off*/
    #top .header_color .main_menu .menu ul li a:hover {
    background-color: rgb(12,9,122);
    }
    /*sub menu background hover*/
    #top .header_color .main_menu .menu ul li a:hover {
    background-color: rgb(68,9,9);
    }
    /*underlines now float above menu*/
    #top .avia-menu-fx {
    display:block;
    position:absolute;
    top: 25px;
    }

    Video is uploading, gonna be here in 5 mins.

    Thanks,

    #117557

    Hi there,

    Well, im having fun trying things out but the menu/navigation is a tricky beast. Ive been trying all sorts of things but nothing seems to work even following other peoples examples and following your process still leaves me stumped… here’s what Id love to do

    1) Increase the font size but make it responsive in the right way

    2) Change the word spacing

    3) Remove the triangle tick over the line and thicken the line

    4) Change the colours of the OFF/ROLLOVER & ON states of any dropdown

    nice to haves

    5) Move the Menu (highlight line) above the text

    6) Add a feint line attached to this that spans the entire menu set

    Is this all BIG LEAGUE stuff or can I do any of this relatively easily?

    Cheers again for all your support

    Andy

    p.s if theres a way to send me an image of what im trying to do then please let me know and ill send a jpg

    Great! Thanks!

    Im used to doing stuff like this at child themes, but I guess this way also is safe for future updates.

    #117556

    Andy,

    You are the first person to ever ask me that question (whether to start a new thread), most just ask 3 pages of unrelated questions over 5 months. Thanks for asking! Nah you can continue here since its relevant to the overall theme of our exchange.

    I felt that in your case best thing to do was to get you hooked on the google tool since then you can customize your own look. read somewhere carefully about position:absolute and position:relative and how they relate to each other when one div is relative inside an absolute div and vice versa and how that affects margin and padding. Also try to move your logo for example to the bottom right corner of screen without messing anything else up using right:20px .left, down, top, and the position: tag… Goodstuff.

    It’s not difficult to edit it. Now sitting down in front of an empty screen and writing it from nothing is difficult.

    So ask away.

    Thanks,

    Nick

    1) To change the font size/line height of the main font insert following code into the quick css field:

    body {
    font: 13px/1.65em "HelveticaNeue", "Helvetica Neue",Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;
    }

    and replace 13px and 1.65em (line height) with your custom values.

    2) Use following css code for the main menu font:

    .main_menu ul:first-child>li>a {
    font-size: 13px;
    }

    #117555

    Hey Nick,

    Ive taken my personal portfolio offline while I rebuilt it. The basic Enfold installation is there and thats due to be replaced with a countdown. Not sure how I show you something local other than to give you a screen shot.

    Good news though in that I sorted the colouring out using your method so thank you. Basically I should have been using ‘icon box’ and not ‘Icon list’ and then it was a case of trial and error.

    I think for the most part I can get on now but as im creating a dark (chocolate) background based look and feel I have two other questions which relate to the main menu. should I start a new thread or continue talking to you here?

    Cheers again and thanks for all your help. You are the first person who has tried to help me understand it properly and not just assumed im casting a spell in some mystical dark arts… although it does still feel a bit like that.

    all the best

    How do we make the fonts bigger?

    Main font and main menu font that is…

    #117554

    Hi,

    Ok thats good, however that won’t always work. You need to add #top before everything (which is from the body tag) , this way you will get more specificity and override the original code. Sometimes for some real hard cases, you need to add !important; to the end of the statement — color: red !important;

    if your code ignored, do this. Open up chrome developer tools like this ( http://i.imgur.com/RfNyIBs.png ) find custom.css file in there step 2, then you add your changed code into the screen in middle, just don’t forget to copy it if you need to refresh ) and enter the css directly, if nothing changes, add #top, take something off, and you will see results live, so this way you don’t have to copy and paste and save every time to see whats working and what isnt. also you can edit the html live too and any of the files, but as soon as you refresh, its all gone.

    also don’t use media=”screen” unless you see something like @media only screen and (max-width:767px) { .. if you see that, you need to grab that since that’s a media query (which is css that works on a specific screen size for mobile/tablets).

    so first try (your code with #top directive)

    #top .avia-icon-list .iconlist_icon {
    height:64px;
    width:64px;
    line-height:60px;
    font-size:30px;
    text-align:center;
    border-radius:500px;
    position:relative;
    float:left;
    margin-right:30px;
    margin-left:2px;
    z-index:5;
    border-style:solid;
    border-width:2px;
    color: #fff;
    }

    Then as you get comfortable you will see that css is like a postal address country, state, city, street, house.. further you go in the more specific it becomes. So you can take the less specific stuff off sometimes.

    #top .avia-icon-list .iconlist_icon {
    background-color: #d73119;
    }

    I wish you had a url, where I can look at these disks. when i click url from your name , a website loads, but nothing there.

    Don’t give up on this tool, watch a youtube tutorial for it because its as easy or complex as you want it to be. Its the only one I use and only one many (if not all) use to debug or modify any website.

    Thanks,

    Nick
