August 19, 2015 at 11:30 pm in reply to: Bit confused on how Enfold sizes images for the full-width parallax effect. #490461
OK, sorry to chime in here. I had the same problem and investigated a little bit and did some trial and error. In fact enfold crops (or enlarges) BG images in color sections with 100% height setting and parallax pretty much exactly 30% more than necessary. that means if you just add a whitespace of 30% of the images original height to the bottom of the image (in photoshop or similar) the image will fill the background perfectly through all screen sizes (what “cover”, or “stretch to fit” are actually supposed to do). the whitespace will NOT be visible. This is not a practical workaround though because the whitespace will of course become visible on devices (phone, iPads etc.) that do not support parallax and just adjust the full image to the devices screen height.
there is no logical reason that I could think of as why this is handled this way by enfold and probably the reason why I found quite a few topics in the forums where people were complaining about it. I really think there should be an easy fix for it that would make a lot of happy enfold users even more happy.
have a good day!
this is a well known annoyance on multiple browsers and mobile OS’s. it was discussed on stackflow for example: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/24944925/background-image-jumps-when-address-bar-hides-ios-android-mobile-chrome
would be really cool if this could be addressed in the theme. as far as I understand this only applies to BG images that scale to screen size e.g. in color sections that use the percentage settings for the section height. maybe the way the size is determined could be changed as discussed in the thread.
August 19, 2015 at 12:58 pm in reply to: Portfolio grid spacing & strange scrambled text on mobile #490007hi josue,
thanks for your support.
1. the code fixed the problem only partially. now the inner spacing is gone. the outer one is still there. if we could get this fixed that would be great. also could you please provide a way to disable the links to portfolio pages themselves. There are two of them. one is in the title excerpt bar below each item on the grid and the second one is the portfolio item title in the ajax preview. I don’t want to allow guests to navigate away from the main page via the ajax portfolio at all.
2. I don’t exactly know what I changed but for now the problem seems to be gone. I will monitor and let you know if it comes back.
have a good one!
I don’t want to hijack this discussion but I see a similar problem with my page. Overall the background positioning with parallax option enabled in color section is not really comprehensible for me. On desktop no matter what the setting for the anchor (center, top, top left…) it always looks exactly the same (at least for the first color section of the page). On the iPad on the other hand no matter which setting i choose it always seems to be anchored to the bottom center resulting in cutoff heads and faces. Overall alle the background images with parallax and stretch to fit are way too big on the iPad. I would expect them to try to fit the width or the height and compensate for the rest but actually they are just much wider and higher than necessary. very strange. Now that I look at it the same is true for the desktop as well, it’s just not as obvious.
I’ll follow the progress of this thread curiously to see if there’s a resolution for this behavior.
cheers guys!

I want to chime in here and say I’m having the same loading problem with easy slider (only firefox -> tested on osx). Exactly as you describe it. 2-3 images load fluently without any problems then it gets jerky, half-loaded images etc.
On top easy slider refuses to reload when you open – close – open an ajax portfolio item where an easy slider is contained (only firefox as well).
thank you!
February 3, 2015 at 10:29 pm in reply to: Can't change number of gallery rows on gallery feature #390417I do have the same problem. whatever number of columns I set for galleries, it’s always stuck at 5. The workaround is not a solution as I have the need for various galleries with different column settings. pls advice on how to fix this.
link and admin credentials are already enclosed in the first post (private)
hey elliotthank you for your reply. yes, I changed some stuff and was able to solve some problems.
the remaining questions are for the display options of our portfolio (section “Projekte”)
right now I’m using the masonry element which looks exactly the way we want but for one thing: It doesn’t open the nice ajax window that keeps the visitor on the page without reload. Is it possible to open the ajax portfolio from the masonry element instead of going to the actual portfolio page?If not – is it possible to have the portfolio grid look the same way the masonry does (hover, padding etc.) and have a “load more option” instead of the pagination which reloads the whole page -> this is the problematic part because it reloads and goes to the top of the page instead of where it left of. we use the projects gris on a one page further down
whit whatever solution we end up in the end we would always want to see 2 columns on mobile instead of 1 – if that’s possible?
thanks for helping
follow up on the video issues:
when I use the webm version instead of the mp4 version in the slider. the responsiveness of the video is OK, however the video then doesn’t play in safari desktop. video also still doesn’t play on android browsers (chrome, stock or firefox). I trashed firefox on android btw -> it’s crappy!
please forget about the video issues – we will not use autoplay background video for the complications it causes cross-browser wise.
also placement of fullwidth accordion is solved.
we also decided to switch from portfolio grid to masonry once we found out that the only way to display more projects than the initially displayed ones is pagination, which forces a page reload. this is really a shame as we liked the ajax display of the projects (the didn’t need a load and kept people on the same page). we still would love to see a possibility to have 2 columns displayed side by side on mobile instead of stacking one by one.
