The brackets are used it the html tags and so they might be breaking the table.

It is the css knowledge in general and so not theme related, there are plenty of materials online.

They seem to be aligned in the middle. Do you need them to look different?

This kind of layout is not available as a single component in Enfold, you can add the “blog posts” element two times configured differently. One set to display grid layout and the other one to “single, big preview”.
