Yes, in lightbox are all the items that are loaded on the page, sorting is not reflected in that functionality.

Unfortunately it would require quite some time and customization of the theme to achieve this, so I am sorry to tell you that this is not covered by our support. However if it’s really important for you to get this done, you can always hire a freelancer to do the job for you :)

The “phantom plugin update” is nothing to worry about. It’s the Layer Slider that needs an update and as it comes with Enfold, the update will come with one of the Enfold new versions. SO you will be seeing that notification for a while. If you do not use Layer Slider, you can deactivate it. Here is how to do it

For the dropdown here to be populated, there need to exist some portfolio categories and portfolio items that belong to those categories. Please create those and you will see that it all works.

You have a copy of the header.php file in your child theme, if you have any customizations there you need to merge that file with a copy of the file from the parent theme. If no customizations were made, than remove the file from the child theme.
As for the buttons, you can use this code
