  • That fixed it. Many thanks. My brain must have been on holiday :)

Thanks, that helped. The issue doesn’t seem to be with the amount of memory allocated to PHP. It turns out that there is some real weirdness going on with links to documents. A link on the page was either causing the advanced layout editor to never finish saving or, if I did manage to get it saved without any of the Enfold formatting, the link was being replaced with http://www.batterypointhall.org.au/wp-admin/_wp_link_placeholder even though that definitely wasn’t the text that I had entered.

Anyway, your suggestion about links means that I think I’ve worked out how to get around the problem so at least I can get the site updating again.

    Thanks for your help.

Sorry about the delay in replying.

If I switch to the Classic Editor, I can see the short codes and the Update button will finish, however the post still doesn’t display any of the styling. If I open the post again and then click on the Advanced Layout Editor button, clicking the Update button gives me a 403 error from the server. Switching back to the block editor taken me back to the same behaviour as described in my original post.

Unfortunately, we are having trouble getting the host to update PHP. They say that it isn’t possible at the moment and that they provide protection using https://www.cloudlinux.com/hardenedphp-wp. I know that this isn’t your issue, I’m just letting you know why an earlier version of PHP is running.

Many thanks for your efforts. I’m happy with how things are working.

Unfortunately, that change has made things worse. There are four things I can see:
    1. The image circles are now clipped at the top and bottom all the time, rather than just when they zoom.
    2. On hover, the whole element still zooms rather than just the photo
    3. On hover, the zoom then clips the circle at the left and right in addition to the top and bottom.
    4. A white border has appeared between the edge of the circle and the photo.

I’ve reverted back to your earlier code. That at least prevents the ugly clipping even if the zoom on hover is incorrect.

I’ll leave the login active in case you have any further code to try. I do appreciate your ongoing efforts.

Thank you, that fixed the clipping.

I notice that the hover behaviour is different. In Safari, the whole element zooms slightly, i.e. the white circle and the photo zoom together. In Firefox and Chrome, the white circle stays the same size while the photo inside the circle zooms slightly.

I don’t mind the difference although I do prefer the Firefox and Chrome behaviour as it is what I would expect from the image element in Enfold. Is this just an example of the black art of browser differences or can Safari replicate the behaviour in the other browsers?

    Many thanks for your help.

Thanks for the help and it is good to see you on the forum. You have created a great product!

I was also part of the discussion at https://kriesi.at/support/topic/4-0-2-section-content-hidden-click-here-to-show-it/

I had cleared caches prior to posting on the forum but, coming back to the site today, I did it again and the problems have been resolved. As I said in that thread, I’m not certain why clearing caches several times is any different from doing it once but browsers seem to have a mind of their own.

Anyway, all is working so thank you for your help.

    Steven

I had cleared caches previous to posting but I was just able to come back to the site and do it again (third or fourth time). The problems with the links, the overlapping element titles, and the lack of a preview have all corrected themselves.

I’m not certain why clearing the caches multiple times would be any different from doing it once but there you are.

No, I’m still in development and running on a Bitnami VM. Everything is up to date.

    I’m having the same problem.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve looked at the output from Firebug and similar tools but, as far as I can see with my strictly limited knowledge of CSS, things look as expected. The relevant avia css is listed as 1 and the custom sp-silverbackground is listed as 2 in the CSS list for the element.

Unless you have a brainwave in the meantime, I’ll change the page design to work around this until I can get the site onto an internet facing server. Hopefully, you’ll be able to see what is happening then.

in reply to: Custom CSS for Text Block #491154

Elliott, thank you for the suggestion but, unfortunately, it didn’t work.

At the moment, the site is running on a VM on my desktop machine (Bitnami WordPress stack) so I don’t know any way to give you access. I know that is not helpful to you but I hope that we can still solve the problem.

Is there any other information I can send that might help such as the relevant part of the page source or some CSS information from inspecting the element?

in reply to: Arrow to next section not appearing #367621

I’m sorry but I didn’t explain the issue clearly enough.

The arrow on the slider is working beautifully. My problem is with the colour section that has the finger image as its background.

In the Section Bottom Border Styling settings for that section (the one with the finger image), I have ticked ‘Display a small arrow that points dow to the next section’. Unfortunately, the arrow does not appear.

    Sorry about the confusion.

in reply to: Single product page layout #365871

    Both worked beautifully. Many thanks.

in reply to: Single product page layout #365222

Thanks, that helped a little bit. It reduced the whitespace by the width of the tab headings. It would be great if it could narrow a bit further. Is there similar padding at the top of the tabs?

Also, do you have any thoughts on having the sale badge appearing to the immediate right of the product name rather than floating to the right hand side of the window?

    I appreciate the help.

in reply to: Single product page layout #364445

Following your reply of last night to another ticket, I found the suggested changes to functions.php in the child theme to work. See https://kriesi.at/support/topic/woocommerce-product-page-2/

The only remaining problem is that this change creates a lot of white space between the bottom of the image and the tabs.

Is there any way to reduce that gap?

Also, the Sale! badge on single product pages floats to the right of the window. Is it possible for it to be just to the right of the product heading?

Many thanks for Enfold and for your ongoing help.

in reply to: Woocommerce errors #364022

Thank you. The problem was with a plugin called Root Relative URLs that I suspect had been installed with a theme I tried before settling on Enfold. I thought I’d cleaned everything out before switching to Enfold but this is a lesson that it is easy to miss things.

Of more interest is that I had already tried deactivating plugins other than WooCommerce as part of a usual first round troubleshooting and, unlike this time, it didn’t fix the problem. The only thing I can think of is that there had been a DDOS attack on Rackspace around that time and our host had turned on a bunch of CloudFlare services. For some unknown reason our site initially didn’t roll back correctly causing some weird caching issues that affected stuff across the site.

Anyway, all is well. I think it is fantastic that you support neophytes such as myself with as much effort as you give to the experts. All I can say is well done and thank you.

Thanks for plugging on with this. Is there any way for you to notify photo guy and myself when it is resolved?

I do appreciate your help so far.

in reply to: Layerslider and Chrome #297170

Any more thoughts? My client reports the same problem with Chrome and IE on her personal and work computers.

in reply to: Layerslider and Chrome #296571

That is odd because it certainly isn’t working at this end.

Just to be sure, I am using a fresh install of Chrome. There are no themes or extensions loaded, and the settings are out of the box. I have completely reset the browser’s cache, history, etc. I’m not running anything at the operating system level that would have any effect.

I have logged into two other Macs, one of which had never loaded the site before, and the latest version of Chrome isn’t showing the 3D transitions on either of those machines. One of the machines is a standard OSX 10.9 installation with nothing else running.

I fired up Windows 7, cleared all the browser caches, etc., and Chrome isn’t showing the transitions there. IE is also not showing the transitions.

Since last night, I haven’t made any changes to settings or pages at the WordPress end. WP Super Cache is still turned off.

I don’t think we have solved the problem yet. I don’t understand why it would be working at your end and not at mine.

in reply to: Layerslider and Chrome #296413

Having said that I just fired up Windows in a VM to check. I had been relying on feedback from someone else.

In Windows 7, Firefox renders the 3D transitions properly, Chrome has the same problem as on my Mac, and IE renders one or two but uses a 2D slide from right or a fade for the rest. That is interesting as Kreaturamedia also say that the plugin is compatible with IE 11.

One other thing. I logged on as administrator using Chrome to see if anything was different when I clicked the Enter Preview button in the slider. Unfortunately, it was the same – the 3D transitions show in the preview in Safari and Firefox (and, as of last night, IE in Windows 7) but not in Chrome.

in reply to: Layerslider and Chrome #296399

Ok. I’ve turned off caching in the Easy tab of WP Super Cache Settings. I have clicked the Delete Cache and, for good measure, the Delete Expired buttons on the Contents tab. Clicking the Regenerate cache stats link says that there are no cached or expired pages in WP-Cache or WP-Super-Cache.

The site has three LayerSlider sliders (on the Home, Things to do and About pages). The only difference between them, other than the images and number of slides, is that the one on the Home page is 470 pixels high compared to 350 px for the other two.

There are no custom transitions. For all the slides on all the sliders the transition settings are Built-in 2D transitions is set to off and Built-in 3D transitions is set to select all.

The overall settings for the sliders are pretty much a copy of one of the ones in your demo content although I shortened the slide delay to 3000 ms. Every slide is set the same.

There are no layers on any of the sliders at the moment, although we want to retain the option for the future.

I really appreciate your efforts on this.

I deleted the cache. I’m not using any minify plugins. In the past, I’ve always found them to be more trouble than help, although I haven’t used one for quite a while.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to have fixed the problem.
