You’re the BEST! Thanks @rikard!
Also you may see TWO ENFOLD themes inside wordpress. I just noticed that. That is because I was trying to overwrite one of them. And then had to do a hard restore from backup. please get rid of the one that I do not need any more so I don’t see 2 Enfold themes inside wordpress.
Oops I’m sorry. YES, the WP installation is in the root, scroll down and you’ll see where ENfold is in the themes. BElow is the wordpress login. THANK YOU
HI! I read through everything thoroughly and I could not get that plug in to work. At all. I backed up copies of ENFOLD and ENFOLD child on my server. Tried the FTP and it would not work successfully. Please check below for private info for you to go in and try to fix this for me. GoDaddy backs up my website every single day, so when I crashed it this morning, I simply restored it from yesterday and it was fixed.
enfold.zip
@goldengate415 I think I will, as it seemed waiting too long to connect to the server. Although I know people have had problems with them before and with other hosting, I’ve been a customer with them for 18 years and really have always been pleased. They sure have changed a lot, but hasn’t all businesses? Thanks for the idea.
@mike I’m confirming that through FTP I am running v4.2 I cannot upgrade to v4.2.2 through WP or FTP. So I have an older version and my site is up. We have a bandaid to the problem. I’m hoping to be able to upgrade at some point, I’ll just watch. Thanks for being so responsive!
Okay (and you should know that I’m only a wanna-be-geek who knows enough to be dangerous) – but wanted to help you so you can have a dependable theme.
MySQL is Database client version: libmysql – 5.1.73 (Does that sound correct)?
GoDaddy only gives me the option to select 7.0 php, so I did.Inside WP with all my plugins you have seen while activated and one extra new one WPForms that I added today to fix my contact us page, I opted to update to Enfold 4.2.2
It took a long time to connect to my server and had this message: Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute. (for a about 10 minutes, it NEVER takes that long).
And then of course, it crashed with the 500 server error
So maybe it’s the SSL ???When I manually updated through FTP – it worked fine and I redid that and am back up.
Honestly this is my busiest time of the year so I’m not interested in having a down website. Just wanted to help to troubleshoot because I don’t think I’m the only one having this problem.@mike sure!
@mike Okay that worked. And I would have done that immediately, but since I upgrade inside WP, I didn’t have the v4.2 Honestly, I don’t believe I’ve downloaded any out of the ordinary or unusual plugins, we recently moved servers so everything looks new on the site. But I welcome you to look at it.
Anyway, thanks for the link, I will DEFINITELY backup my site now. And honestly, this has never happened in five years of using the template. Hope you find the culprit.

@mike I have 7.1 PHP version installed
Yigit,
I DID update to 4.2.2 yesterday morning, through WP and it crashed my site. I cannot even get into my wp-admin. Today I FTP manually uploaded the theme (not child theme) to my site. My site is still a 500 error and I cannot access my wp-admin.

Mike, Was that reply #903014 for me? If so, I replace the …..\comments.php with “file in the private content area”? I’m sorry I don’t understand where the file is I need to replace. This is the first time I’ve ever upgraded the theme and it’s crashed. :(

ME TOO!
Just upgraded the theme (I believe it said 4.2.1 but thought it was 4.2.2. not sure) inside WordPress and 500 server error and cannot access wp-admin. I’m using PHP v7.1 version. About to reinstall my SQL database if we cannot find a fix. AGGGHHH!

Oh! Well I have been updating the theme within WP with the API key, I have version (4.0.2) right now. What I can’t tell is how to change the templates with those new awesome themes. Is that something I need to download? Or is there printed information on how to do it? I want to be careful as my website has a lot of information and I don’t want to totally screw up the formatting. Thanks!
February 5, 2016 at 4:24 pm in reply to: can we eliminate showing the categories in blog posts? #578561You ARE THE BEST!!!!!! THANK YOU!
Okay, well thanks for your help Ismael! I won’t change anything because I don’t want to mess with hard coding and updates. I finally got on board with Child Themes for that purpose.
—-> Lazy. lol
Ismael:
Single Author, big preview Pic (no author picture displayed)
But it’s in a Blog Grid format: http://planningforever.com/blogBecause I could NEVER get the read more excerpt to work.
I guess I wasn’t clear. I actually want to change out the image placecard holder with a graphic that will be used every time this needs a place card holder. Does that makes sense?
Wordpress.org … is that what you are asking?
Oh I’d be interested in this, only if you can update in the child theme.
December 20, 2013 at 7:07 pm in reply to: Does the new Enfold update need a new child theme installed #202655I am new to creating a child theme, which I have one. What are the best steps in updating the parent theme?
Do I install to the parent theme or the child theme? Thanks in advance. Please be specific.
UPDATE: I FIGURED IT OUT. Just update at the themes. Anything I need to do with the Child theme?

Well I changed the Single Post with Big Preview Image … and it crashed again. *sigh* I think that might be the glitch.
Well I was going to give up, I did what you said and it would work, however, then my wordpress wouldn’t let me have another “.com/blog” page … it was like, “.com/blog-3” even though I tried to manually change it.
So I went BACK to my original blog page and then somehow, viola, it worked! There is a glitch in the system somewhere but it worked out okay. Thanks for your help!
Really like this theme. Since switching over, I’ve had two potential clients rave about my website. *sweet*
I apologize that link did not show the blog page that I’m desperately trying to duplicated.
Here is a screen capture: http://planningforever.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Screen-Shot-2013-11-26-at-11.25.01-AM.png
In the Enfold theme settings it does have an “Excerpt with REad More Link”, which I have selected but it’s not doing it. I’m sure I’m just missing one step.
Can you please let me know how to fix this?
I’m not interested in doing the manual excerpts. It changes the Feed and overrides SEO, I believe.
