I updated the theme to the latest version and my slideshow and partner banner all showed up. Could the update have fixed it?

Thanks Nick. I will try to address some of the solutions you suggested. Do you think the css will help the IE8 issues? Do you think there is a bigger issue with our WP permissions or installation?

some of the buttons do not appear correctly on this page: http://admissions.vmi.edu/visit/
on pages that should have two columns, like the 1st page section with the animated list, one column gets pushed below the other….
the circle icons appear as squares as seen on the homepage.
the background color on the layer slider stretches the width of the entire slide: http://admissions.vmi.edu/prepare/

I tried this fix, and it doesn’t appear to have fixed it for me. I am having multiple issues with IE8. All kinds of things are broken. HELP!!

i added it using the sidebar feature in the framework. i have a number of sidebars with the custom menu widget and this is the style it picks up when i include it in the page.
i just want the regular menu style, like the one that shows on a regular page like this one: http://admissions.vmi.edu/contact/alumni-contacts/

ok. thanks. i understand the portfolio now. better this way, much more flexible.
i am still having issues with the editor. i have not disabled all of my plugins because some of them are critical, but i will do that now just to be thorough. if it is an issue with the installation is there a way to uninstall and reinstall without losing my page layouts and content. i have a lot of content built and can’t afford to lose anything.
