Your designer is right and wrong. They’re right that it would take a lot of work to recreate the example website in any WordPress theme, especially since the example is all flash. But, you can use Enfold or any other theme to create an HTML alternative to your all flash example. I agree with Torlock that you could create a more extensive and better website using Enfold or any of the more popular WordPress themes.
I believe your designer is wrong with their comments about ruining optimizations. With the use of child themes you can make changes to appearance, etc. and continue to keep these settings while updating the theme core. WordPress actually recommends creating a child theme, and many designers (e.g. Kriesi) have child themes as part of their theme files.
There are security vulnerabilities in most if not all programs. So as developers find issues with their software they close the hole, therefore it is essential to keep your software up to date. Furthermore, hackers love going after php code and they look for security holes. Therefore, it is important to keep your programs up to date.
Just like any piece of software developers are constantly adding functionality to their software to make it easier to use, more powerful, etc. so you need to keep they software up to date. WordPress, Joomla and any other CMS is no different. So they have to be updated on a regular basis.
I’m trying to rebuild the site. It’s an absolute mess at the moment. I don’t know if it is the theme, plug-ins, WordPress or the host but constantly getting internal server errors. And everything was working properly up until this past weekend when I updated the theme and a couple of plug-ins.
Are Abundance and Propulsion written to work with PHP 5.3? I was told the webhost after the Internal 500 server error upgraded PHP 5.3 and this is when all these deprecated and other error messages have occured.
Is Replete written for PHP 5.3?
1. Here’s another issue. When I’m in the Template Builder I’m getting a ‘Notice’ that says Undefined variable: title in wp-content/themes/abundance/framework/php/class-htmlhelper.php on line 865 This notice is showing up multiple times.
2. Where in the css do I change the font size for the Rule with Custom Text so that the text is actually readable?
3. Can the update to Abundance cause WordPress to break?
I figured out the version issue is in the Style.css. I didn’t upgrade Style.css because of the date that was attached to the file that was in place and that its size was larger then the new one. However, doing a side by side comparison the code is the same in both.
I can’t find any information about updating the Abundance theme, especially after making edits to CSS and theme options and adding several social media icons via the source code because the social media networks weren’t in the theme editor.
Why would you use different framework versions? That just doesn’t make any sense to me.
Does Replete have a boxed layout? I ask because your demo theme is stretched layout and I don’t see anything in the features section of the demo anything about a boxed layout. I really wish I had known about Replete before purchasing Abundance and Propulsion themes.
Has Abundance’s back-end admin panel been updated to be the same as the Replete theme?
What do we need to do if in V1.2 we changed stylesheets and other setting and now are updating to V1.7 because I got the same error message Richard did when attempting to update through WP theme install?
There is definitely an issue to the Abundance Tweet Feed plugin. It seems it has a compatibility issue with WP 3.5.1 since the problem only occurred since upgrading WordPress. While the tweets are showing up there is a massive CSS issue with the line spacing. Please see http://www.oneofakindcycle.com and scroll to the footer to see what I’m talking about. I look forward to your reply.
