Hi and sorry for the delay.
There are 4 plugins:
- Google XML Sitemaps
- Meta Description
- SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam
- WP Last Login
Besides that I think for some time WP Cache ran (which wasn’t intended and I removed the plugin). Before that, the site was developed under the subdomain fah.motivmedia.de (IIRC) and was moved to its present location at golive. I’m not sure, if the theme was always used with a child theme. This might have come later. In the child theme, there are those things:
- style.css: hiding social bookmarks in the footer and increasing fon-size for one link in the socket (used in sidebar.php)
- functions.php: only an uncalled (call commented out) function to activate maintenance mode
- sidebar.php: a copy of the original with an inserted single line of echo to out put a link at line 98
- screenshot.png ;)
“Fun” fact on the side: At the moment the page doesn’t use any galleries anymore as there’s a dispute if our client had the right to use said pictures. The bad thing about that is, that during our experiments I re-uploaded the initial pictures in question and now it’s hard to pinpoint from when to when those were used. But that’s a completely different issue and has nothing to do with you.February 3, 2015 at 6:01 pm in reply to: cant upload photos to the default background image gallery #390262
Okay, so you just told me how to get rid of the new images… I ran the query and updated the post_parent values to 0. This got rid of all the background gallery images. None stayed, not even the old ones. Maybe I would have double-checked the entries I changed if I had been told to do so.
But I managed to get the new pictures displayed, now and this is how (and I strongly think that could and should have been mentioned):
I uploaded the pictures again (via the themes “General Settings”, just to be clear) and changed their post_parent to 7. Those were easy to finde since the were the newest bunch of pictures uploaded.
They didn’t have 1490 in it before my change, but 1613. Checking that post in the database: It’s post_title is “avia_smart-default-galleryhttpwww.friseur-albert-huber.dewp-contentuploads201411ah_hintergundbilder_06-300×168.jpg”. That’s the same name that was used before. And I suspect a new parent post has been created because 1490’s post_title was already changed to just “avia_smart-default-gallery” and thus it didn’t match.
So now, just after more than two months after my first post and 10 hours of unbillable work I now know, how I can manually fiddle with the database to get new gallery pictures displayed. I won’t go into detail now as I would certainly be less than civilised in my choice of words so it’ll just be:
I’m quite unhappy how that went and I suggest you (company, not you personally, Ismael) review that whole story.February 2, 2015 at 10:09 am in reply to: cant upload photos to the default background image gallery #389221January 30, 2015 at 10:53 am in reply to: cant upload photos to the default background image gallery #388210
there are only four plugins – I doubt any of them can cause this:
- Google XML Sitemaps
- Meta Description
- SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam
- WP Last Login
At least that meant, visitors wouldn’t even have noticed I deactivated those. So for the time being I’ll keep them deactivated.
Basically we’re still at the beginning. Images can still be uploaded to the gallery, there’s still no way to remove them and the new pictures are still not used. The image with the ID 1418 doesn’t surprise me either, it was uploaded in May last year. I don’t know if you have added this to the gallery, but however, it doesn’t show up among the gallery thumbnails – neither in Flashlight Child – General Settings – Default Background Image Gallery, nor in the gallery in the Media Library.
The appendix to the “Uploaded to” value is an URL to a thumbnail stripped by slashes. The thumbnail is a version one of the gallery’s thumbnails that are displayed: http://www.friseur-albert-huber.de/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/ah_hintergundbilder_06-300×168.jpg I can see how that is a problem, but I wouldn’t even know how to cause that effect, even if I wanted.
Moving along: After deactivating the plugins I tested it on Chrome and on Safari (the latter I barely ever use at all) instead of my go-to browser Firefox. The backend behaves identical in all three. If I could just remove the images from the gallery it would have been much easier, but as that isn’t possible, I deleted the actual images from the Media Library. Then I uploaded them again to the background gallery and now all of them are uploaded to “avia_smart-default-galleryhttpwww.friseur-albert-huber.dewp-contentuploads201411ah_hintergundbilder_06-300×168.jpg”.
In the database I only found four entries (although it should be eight), manually changing them to “avia_smart-default-gallery” without the appendix did nothing. All in all visitors still see the old gallery with old images as it was when I first posted.
So you’ve pinpointed the indicator that something went wrong here now just let me know how to fix it :)

Just updated the theme to version 2.9 which was released yesterday. Issue remains :(January 16, 2015 at 11:33 am in reply to: cant upload photos to the default background image gallery #380700
This gave some interesting results. I found:
Each, avia_options_flashlight and avia_options_flashlight_child seem to carry a single (thumbnail) URL of a picture that’s new, shown in the backend and not used in the frontend. It’s not the same image, though. In avia_options_flashlight-child the gallery_image key is empty.
Side note: Obviously we’re using a child theme. It’s folder is flashlight-child and I don’t know what avia_options_flashlight_child refers to.

first of all thanks for (correctly) blaming the caching plugin for the then unusable backend. Without you mentioning it as the possible culprit I probably would have searched for the cause significantly longer. Now, there’s no caching plugin anymore ;)
So the backend is accessible again, the issue remains. The default background gallery shows new photos in the backend, in the frontend only the formerly used ones (which were removed from the gallery) are shown. And there’s no way to remove images from it.

Hi and thanky for the reply.
Seems like the last updates (core and plugins) before my vavation f***ed something up (there’s not supposed to be caching, however). The way it is now is not how it was when Ismael logged in there – otherwise his reply would state that. I’ll look into it an come back, then.
Can anybody else here confirm, that the issue described in post #369459 is resolved? After the last time, the team stated so it wasn’t the case and not only for me, as the post right after the referenced one shows.

In my last (private) message I sent you my contact details offering to help you narrow down the issue – no reply since. however, as stated, today is my last day at the office this year. I really hope, the issue can be resolved. Anyways, I will be at the office again from 2015-01-12. I would really appreciate either a working version in the week starting with 12.01. or at least an attempt to contact me about this. Reinstating my offer to be of assistance, that is.
Regardless of my growing impatience I hope the Kriesi team gets to have a few quiet days off, merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance

@ismael: Well, I’m not surprised you could upload a photo. I even mentioned, that this works. Also the photo might be added, it doesn’t show. As none of the shown images do. Please re-read my post. Especially those parts:
[…] I can add new images – the new ones are shown, the older ones still aren’t (see “after” part in the linked screenshot).[…]
[…] Still it uses only the old images, that aren’t shown in the backend, and omits the new ones, which actually are displayed in the backend[…]
I notice that it’s over a month after my first post, which wasn’t the first one in this thread. I also notice that the last answer didn’t even touch what I described. I have to say, I’m quite disappointed by now as I had to invest considerable amounts of time which noone is going to pay for.

unfortunately, this doesn’t work as expected :( I wanted to empty out the current gallery and populate it with new photos. The current slideshow images which were added somewhen in the past aren’t shown in the backend and I can’t remove them (see “before” part in the linked screenshot). I can add new images – the new ones are shown, the older ones still aren’t (see “after” part in the linked screenshot).
There are no galleries for single pages, just the default one, which is used everywhere. Still it uses only the old images, that aren’t shown in the backend, and omits the new ones, which actually are displayed in the backend:

Hi again. Is there an update on its way? Or a hot fix for the time being? I’d really appreciate some info :)

Sorry for coming over as impatient, but is there any solution/update in sight? I wouldn’t have noticed this issue if I didn’t have to exchange a background gallery ;)November 14, 2014 at 12:38 pm in reply to: cant upload photos to the default background image gallery #351205
