Ismael,
I don’t recall removing the second snippet I added, there should have still been a duplicate there in the functions.php file?
I just checked the page we are trying to create the header image for, and now it has NO image at all. I’ll put the link below again for you to see.Hi Ismael,
I did all the changes you suggested, and posted my results above, which weren’t successful. BTW, that old snippet from way back is a little different now, so it’s important to use the existing code. My site info. is above – do you mind checking/testing it for me? So far what you’ve suggested that I’ve tried hasn’t worked.
Thanks!Hello, it’s been six days now since I posted the last update and question, would love to get some help on this, please see update above. Thanks!
Thanks again for all your help Mike! I assume you removed the Quick CSS I had added for this page?
I was able to get the footer fixed up like I needed it and I’ve added some dummy text…
I see though that there is some extra white space above the page title. I remember this being an issue with the other sales page too. Any suggestion on how to correct that?
When the page is viewed on mobile, there is also some extra space at the bottom of the page text.
The way you have explained this and set it up (and reminded me how it’s all set up) is going to work well for me! :)November 5, 2019 at 3:45 am in reply to: Burger menu not working for blog post pages on mobile? #1153864Thanks so much Mike!
One more question regarding this topic – can you explain how I would go about taking away or adding the little sideways triangle bullet point next to each mobile menu link? I think I only want those to show on the menus that have drop downs, but I’d want to set it that way and view it before deciding for sure.
Can you explain how I can edit that both for the blog post mobile menu and on the page?
Your expert help is SO appreciated. :)Hello, it’s been three days now since I last updated this thread. Would love to make some forward progress on this. Thanks!
November 4, 2019 at 4:50 am in reply to: Burger menu not working for blog post pages on mobile? #1153601Thank you Mike! I see that I would have to change that setting individually for every single page, correct? And since you understand how the menus are set up differently for blog posts – how can I set this the same for those as well?
November 3, 2019 at 4:32 am in reply to: Burger menu not working for blog post pages on mobile? #1153436Thanks so much Mike! And I appreciate you clarifying just how it was set up so I understand that for future reference. I know this required some careful troubleshooting and I appreciate it so much!
While we’re on this topic – I had a question about how the drop down in the mobile menu works. It seems that when I tap a link that has a drop down, the drop down flashes for a second but I’m immediately taken to the page that is at the top of the drop down. Is there a way to tap that, and just have the drop down menu appear (and have the option to choose from all those links)… without being immediately taken to the top page?
However, I see that when I’m ON the ‘About Page’ on mobile for example, that I can tap ABOUT in the menu and the two drop downs will appear… and the same goes for other pages… If I’m ON the actual page, and click on the link for that page (if it has a dropdown), it will show up and allow me to choose, but not while I’m on other pages.
Hope that makes sense, can you try it and see? I would like people to have the chance to choose from the variety of drop downs on mobile from any page.
Thanks again for all your help – you really go above & beyond, it’s SO appreciated!November 1, 2019 at 5:58 am in reply to: Burger menu not working for blog post pages on mobile? #1152927It’s important that the mobile menu works and looks the same on the blog post pages as on the rest of the site.
I would greatly appreciate a careful look at how things are set up and customized so we can accomplish this for the blog posts.
Please see the original post and all those in this thread… I’m thinking it wouldn’t require taking apart but perhaps just some specific CSS?
Thanks! Thanks for the suggestion Ismael, I did what you said but it went back to showing the original header image, instead of the one I wanted there. AND – on blog post pages, it started showing the TWO header images – yikes! I changed it back to what we had for now. Do you have another idea?
Thanks for the help!
I did as you suggested, using the current snipped (the old one you posted from before has been updated) and it worked to add the header I want (the Love It, Live It, Learn It one), but it also kept the existing header image – so on the course pages, now there are two.How do I get ride of the old / first header? I’ll put a link and code below.
October 29, 2019 at 12:37 am in reply to: Burger menu not working for blog post pages on mobile? #1151962I see what you mean Mike!
I would like the mobile / smaller screen burger menu for those blog post pages to look exactly like they do for a regular page on the site. You can click on any link (other than one to an actual post) and see an example of what it looks like… how can we get that look on the blog posts pages?
Thanks!
Just bumping this up since I posted it three days ago and wasn’t sure if it was seen.
TIA.October 22, 2019 at 11:40 pm in reply to: Burger menu not working for blog post pages on mobile? #1150335I appreciate it Jordan, except that didn’t work.
I’ll post a link (again) to an example post page. When I minimize it on my laptop or check it on mobile, it’s still not showing a burger menu – the actual blog post pages still have the top menu that runs down/overlaps on the page.
I want to fix this, so that on BLOG POSTS it also turns to a burger on mobile (or smaller screen) like the other pages… but I don’t want to mess with/change the existing CSS or coding of the current menus in general if possible (they are kind of complicated, but I remember there were reasons why we set everything up like it is).
Thanks!October 22, 2019 at 7:47 pm in reply to: Burger menu not working for blog post pages on mobile? #1150271Off of the top of my head, I don’t remember why we did it that way (I had a lot of help with the Kriesi team on this before). I don’t want to make changes to the 6 months of customizations that were done to get it to look and work the way it does.
I just need for the burger menu to work on actual blog post pages with my current set-up. Was hoping to get some code that would accomplish that?
Thanks!October 21, 2019 at 6:35 pm in reply to: Burger menu not working for blog post pages on mobile? #1149931Hello Kriesi Team,
I just renewed my support for another six months, so am bumping this up and looking forward to getting a reply to my question (above) soon so I can move forward.
Thanks so much!Hello Kriesi Team,
I just renewed my support for another six months, so am bumping this up and looking forward to getting a reply to my question (above) soon so I can move forward.
Thanks so much!Woo hoo, thanks Michael! I didn’t have all the necessary permissions checked, but when I did that and revalidated, it worked! Yay, so happy I was able to get this done.
Thanks again for all your help! :)
Thanks for clarifying Michael!
I have successfully removed the old enfold folder, and replaced it with the most current version via FTP.When I entered the token I generated in the Theme Update area though, I got an error message (I’ll link to a screenshot in the PC).
FYI, I generated a token first yesterday in the settings of my ThemeForest accnt. Didn’t do anything with it, just saved it in a .txt file.
Then, once I understood where the token had to come from, after that yesterday I generated one at https://build.envato.com.
I also saved that in a .txt file, and that’s what I entered in my WordPress Theme Update settings just now (after the new enfold folder was finished uploading)… and then got the error.Do you have any ideas for me – why I’m getting the error, and what to do next?
Thanks!Michael,
So if I’m understanding right (I’m doing this Enfold update through FTP by the way), I don’t need to generate an API key under Settings at ThemeForest.net at all anymore? Instead I need to generate a new one at https://build.envato.com?And if that’s correct – when I go to that url and click on API, if I’m already signed into my ThemeForest accnt. it logs me in, but I’m taking to a page with a loooonnggg list of various instructions. I searched and searched and searched, since it wasn’t obvious, but finally found a link that said ‘generate token’ and I got that done, copied & saved.
Can you confirm that’s what I’ll enter in my Enfold CHILD Template Settings in WordPress, and NOT the API key I generated under settings in myThemeForest.net account?
One other question I had – was that I have a highly customized child theme with Enfold. Do I need to delete and replace the Enfold Child Theme as well? Or no?
Thanks!
Hi Michael (or anyone else who can help),
I’m finally getting around to updating the Enfold Theme.
I started following the instructions in the Step-by-Step Guide you linked to above, but I’m a little confused by steps 10 and 11, and I don’t want to go forward until I’m 100% clear. I wondered if you could offer some clarification?
One other question I had – was that I have a highly customized child theme with Enfold. Do I need to delete and replace the Enfold Child Theme as well? Or no?
Below I will copy and paste parts of your guide that I don’t fully understand, with my questions:
10) Your current API token will not work anymore as Envato changed some stuff on their API. Therefore you need to remove your current key and generate a new private key as visible in your themeforest account under “Settings” -> “API keys”.*Question on this – I went to this page in my Themeforest account and generated a “Legacy API key” (there wasn’t one already there) is that correct? It’s a long password/code. I’m assuming that’s what I copy and paste into the fields in WordPress Admin -> Enfold Child -> Theme Update?
Go to https://build.envato.com and follow the steps there.
*Question on this – I don’t understand this part – what steps exactly to I follow at that URL, this isn’t clear to me?
To me, https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/how-to-install-enfold-theme/#toggle-id-5 was also very helpful (scroll down a bit there to find out about the permissions your private API key needs in order to check for future Enfold updates). Without these permissions it will not work.
*Question on this – When I go to that URL, there are some helpful additional instructions, but I don’t see anything about the API key at all?
11) After revalidating your new private key within the Enfold update tab, you should see a blue rectangle saying when it could be checked for the last time.
*Question on this – Checked for the last time for what? Do I have to go back and check it for something? Not sure what you mean here?
I would love to get this update process done, but I want to proceed carefully and know I’m on the right track. I would appreciate your help and clarification to my questions. Thanks!
Basilis, since you guys are experts – what is a good place to check for cross-browser and device compatibility?
As I mentioned, I don’t see an issue now on responsivedesignchecker.com, so I’m no longer referring to a mobile-only problem, but site-wide and regardless of mobile vs. pc.
Please enter the URL I’ll put in the PC below at BrowserShots.org (I would send the results, but as I’ve mentioned the report only lasts 15 min.) to see if you can see the out of place pink line from the header area I referred to above (and attached the image for)?
If you see it also, then I would like to proceed with troubleshooting and getting assistance for fixing that.
Thanks.
When I submit the URL to BrowserShots, it only lasts for 15 minutes.
Please submit the url mentioned above if possible at BrowserShots.org for the complete results.
I’m not even so much worried about the PayPal button now, as I am about a site-wide issue with the out of place partial pink line from the header area that is showing up in the middle of the page.
I didn’t notice this pink link out of place when I checked on responsivedesignchecker.com, but as a WordPress theme support team, I’m sure there are sites you use to check a web site’s appearance on different browsers and screen sizes?
It seems like this issue could be site-wide and I would like confirmation or help in digging to determine whether it is or not and what do to about it?I am not having actually issues with the page on my PC, but there is a confirmed issue with the PayPal button on mobile.
In the process of looking into this, I came across another problem I mentioned above where it looks like the pink jagged edge line is displaced in the center of the page in some instances… I want to resolve this too.
The BrowserShots views are only available for so many minutes.
The link can be input at browsershots.org, or do you have a cross browser checker to look at the page?
Again, the link in question is above in the PC. I’ll attach a screenshot in the PC below from BrowserShots.
Thanks for looking into this. Thanks for the info. Michael. I do have access to my site via the SmartFTP program I have on my laptop.
Can you offer a summary of steps to do this important update manually? I’m pretty tech. savvy but I realize one must proceed with caution with these kind of things.
Thanks again.Looks like I was able to get this issue fixed myself. No more assistance needed at this time.
Another update – I have successfully restored a backup of the functions.php file from yesterday, which put my sidebars back, but the menu now is back to what it was. I am trying to update the html in it now. Will post again soon whether or not I’m successful.
As I have said, there are a lot of customizations to how my blog posts and headers, etc. are set up. If I had known I could just change the HTML in the functions.php file I would have done that. I have just uploaded a backup of the functions.php (functionsbackup.php) file I had from Sept. to the enfold-child folder if that helps you fix this. It’s very urgent!
I tried uploading that to replace the new functions.php file you made today, but it broke the entire site – were there any other changes you made to the site? Please help, every moment is critical and my very career is going down the drain with every moment that passes.
What I would really like is for the site to be restored to what it was before you made the changes… then I think I can change the html menu items myself.
Thanks!Ismael, thank you – BUT please, please, please -whatever you did (which did fix the menu issue) seems to have broken the blog posts pages – there is no longer a sidebar on them. I’ll put a link to a individual blog post in the PC. Please, I am running a holiday sale right now that my entire income for the year depends on and those sidebars have important links – there is loads of traffic being sent to my site right now!
