Hi Victoria,
That’s weird about the screenshots. I can’t upload on Imgur; do you use Dropbox?
Alternatively, I’ve now published the test page called Homepage Draft.
https://www.missouriartscouncil.org/homepage-draft/
Comparing this to the actual homepage at https://www.missouriartscouncil.org will show you the problem with the image size – it shows up in the third image from the left. The only additional information the screenshots would give you would be to show that I did absolutely nothing different in the back end to insert third image than I did with the first and second images.
And a new problem has shown up on the draft page – the video element is not working. I’ve inserted the same URL that is on the actual homepage, which is working fine.As I mentioned in my original message, I cannot currently upgrade the theme because of problems with the State of Missouri server on which the site is hosted. Do you want to wait to address the issue until the ITSD wonks have updated the theme so we can see if that solves the problem?
– Barbara
I’m afraid not. I’ve just now deleted most of the transients (although seven refuse to go away even when I ask the plugin to delete them), and the Enfold version is still stuck at 3.8.4. I think the root of the problem may be with the server hosting the website. The site is hosted by a State of Missouri server, and we frequently run into roadblocks due to its security protocols. The ITSD guy with whom I’m working thinks the server is refusing the connection to envato.com/themeforest.
Thanks for your help!
Unfortunately I can’t give you admin login, as my site is a State of Missouri website. I took screenshots – there are currently 42 transients – but Imgur wouldn’t let me unload. I hope the following list is okay. Thank you for your help!

(I figure it’s safe to delete all the expired ones.) Are there any specific transients that would be interfering with the Enfold updates?

May 4, 2017 at 11:37 pm in reply to: Best file size & resolution for self-hosted video in Fullwidth Easy Slider? #788123Well, I think I just figured out how to loop, hide controls, and mute even when the video comes from YouTube – it’s all there in Edit Form Element. Woohoo! I had thought that stuff would only work with self-hosted videos.
May 4, 2017 at 5:08 pm in reply to: Best file size & resolution for self-hosted video in Fullwidth Easy Slider? #787943Hi Rikard,
I know how to compress videos, but I’m looking for a file size to which to compress them. I figured Enfold would know sizes that work well within your Fullwidth Easy Slider element.
The video is already on YouTube, but if I link from there, consequences ensue that I do not want. I want the video to play as a loop, and I want it to start automatically when someone accesses the homepage:
1) Using Embed code. You have to make the video play (there’s a red arrow to click), and after it’s over, the slider fills with YouTube tiles. I know there’s a plugin that’s supposed to make those stop, but I don’t want the viewers to have to click to play anyway.
2) Using YouTube URL. This will make the video start playing automatically. It doesn’t show the tiles at the conclusion; it returns to the beginning with a static image and a black arrow that must be clicked to play the video again. So it’s not a loop.
Both when using the Embed code and the URL, the controls show at the bottom of the image. I don’t want that.
To have a continuous loop, with no controls showing, I believe my best option is to self-host the video, which is why I’m asking for a recommended file size.
Thanks,

August 22, 2016 at 6:29 pm in reply to: Enfold's Google Maps widget is crashing other Google Maps on my site #675933Are you saying that it’s not Enfold’s Maps widget that is crashing the directory maps, but the directory maps that are crashing the Enfold widget?
Same exact thing is happening on my site. I registered for an API key and inserted it in Enfold / Google Services, but on the website after getting the map for a split second I get the OOPS screen.

July 7, 2016 at 12:03 am in reply to: Put link to video on static background image in color section? #657786Hi team – sorry about the delayed response – on July 1, I was in the middle of having the site transferred from an in-construction preview site to the real site, which is missouriartscouncil.org.
I want to be able to give the Enfold team access to the back end, as I have done during the construction phase. I have already instituted Administrator status for the team, but the problem is that because the site is now being hosted on State of Missouri servers, for anybody outside of the State network, I need to have the State team institute an exception with a specific IP address. I mean, my boss discovered today that he can’t get into the back end from his laptop! Is it possible in the private content for you to give me an IP address for the Enfold team, or for me to put you in touch via phone or email with the State guy who is monitoring our project?
June 24, 2016 at 11:51 pm in reply to: Color section video background doesn't play on mobiles or ipad? #653210Could you explain in more detail how this is supposed to work?
“You can refer to this post – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/hide-menu-itemselements-on-mobile/ and show/hide certain elements on mobile. You can use it to display a video element in your case.”What I don’t understand is that the color section is set for a video background, so where is one supposed to insert a video element? The only option I see in the color section is in Section Background to hide the video on mobile devices and insert a static background image that will be visible on mobile instead. Where does the video element come in?
June 20, 2016 at 9:28 pm in reply to: Outside links won't open in new tab/window; big problem for videos #651098After noodling around some more, I’ve figured out the video lightbox issue. It turned out to be a problem with the specific link. I had copied the URL from where I found the video in the playlist:
https://(EXAMPLE)www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCWk75LJdhg&list=PL-XNKfCQAsFmhaL1ymsRXB9yoRziPGq4T&index=1
Once I got rid of everything after the ampersands:
https://(EXAMPLE)www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCWk75LJdhg
the lightbox function worked fine. Yay!The global issue of why none of my commands to open a link in a new tab or window are being honored is another story…..

June 6, 2016 at 6:04 pm in reply to: Photos in Grid Row not filling full vertical space despite adequate image size #643525And I was able to disguise the 1px gap by setting the background color of the column to be the same as the footer. Thanks again!
May 27, 2016 at 11:53 pm in reply to: Add space around image+caption in WYSIWYG once border has been eliminated? #639554Got it! This is how I solved the problem:
#top .wp-caption.alignright { margin: 50px 0 50px 50px; }
For the images with no captions, I can adjust the distance between the image and the wrapping text with Advanced Image Styles.
May 27, 2016 at 6:22 pm in reply to: Add space around image+caption in WYSIWYG once border has been eliminated? #639464Sorry this took so long! Here is the example – in the first color section, the photo of the four glass vases. I added 50px of bottom margin to exaggerate the demonstration of the problem. In my initial query I asked only about bottom margin, but what I want is to be able to add either vertical or horizontal space between an entire image+caption unit and the wrapping text.
BTW, I added the images in the Honorees and Artists color sections using Enfold’s Avia Layout Builder – 2/3-1/3 columns with the images in the 1/3 column on the right. A much cleaner result! I love ALB. But sometimes I still need to be able to add images within WordPress’s own WYSIWYG editor.
May 13, 2016 at 6:25 pm in reply to: Photos in Grid Row not filling full vertical space despite adequate image size #632184Gotcha. Thanks!
May 10, 2016 at 9:27 pm in reply to: Can a text box be stretched full-screen beyond the maximum container width? #630246I tried setting the padding to Zero for both of the color sections on that Accessibility page, and it did remove vertical space between the two sections, but it also removed the bottom padding from the second section so that its bottom text was sitting very close to the footer, which I didn’t want. I first tried fixing this by sticking in a Whitespace element of 50px within the column. That worked; it made the vertical space between the bottom text and the top of the footer the same as on pages with no photo caption finagling. Then I tried just setting the column’s bottom margin at 50px. Voila!
So this resolves my issue. Thanks for the pointers! They showed me what to tweak.
And I think I’ll post my workaround in a separate thread. :-)

May 10, 2016 at 8:36 pm in reply to: Photos in Grid Row not filling full vertical space despite adequate image size #630225Thanks for the CSS code. So would I set flex_cell as the special “for developers” ID for that particular Color Section or Grid Row? Or is this code now universal across my site?
“Why did you add a video in the last cell?”
Because I thought that was the way to do it, because Enfold has a Video media element.“Note that you can replace it with an image element then set the url of the video as link.”
That is in fact the way I did some of the links on the Resources / Professional Development Videos page, for the webinars that weren’t hosted on Vimeo. But creating an image is an extra step that because of Enfold’s Video element I thought would be unnecessary for videos that had a nice hosted spot on Vimeo or YouTube. And also, in the columns on that page, the text underneath the Image elements and underneath the Video elements doesn’t exactly align horizontally.“It will then open the video in a lightbox instead of that small box or cell container.”
Right, but all the viewer has to do is click the Full Screen command for Vimeo or YouTube once the video starts running, and voila.Again, I thought this was the way Enfold had set things up to insert videos? If not, how are we supposed to be using the Video element? (soooo confused here)

May 5, 2016 at 8:00 pm in reply to: Can a text box be stretched full-screen beyond the maximum container width? #627963Okay, I inserted the code in that post into Quick CSS, and now I can create a color section going the full width. But I can’t figure out how to tighten up the vertical space between the two color sections. I think that’s a new issue….
New try – Special Programs / Accessibility
Caption is flush right with the edge of the viewing screen and it’s responsive in mobile. Check!
Caption is done with Full Width Color Section / 1-1 column / text box. In the column settings, the top margin is -50px, bottom is zero.
The color section below the caption color section is set with top margin -50px. I’ve left the top border so you can see where the heading text aligns vertically.May 4, 2016 at 6:03 pm in reply to: Modern special heading style looks different depending on whether I'm logged in #627419Thanks so much!
May 4, 2016 at 6:02 pm in reply to: Photos in Grid Row not filling full vertical space despite adequate image size #627416“As i understand you would like to remove the gap/border that appears below these 4 images just above the footer correct?”
Yes, that’s exactly right! And I want to know how to prevent a gap/border from appearing when I create other grid rows of images in the future.
I suspect the problem might lie within the box with the video, because on a test page when I used only images, I didn’t get a border.
May 4, 2016 at 5:55 pm in reply to: Can a text box be stretched full-screen beyond the maximum container width? #627409Hi, sorry the pages weren’t visible; we’re building the site and I had deleted the slider images. Fixed now.
I figured out how to fix the vertical space between the caption text and the heading – our developer’s CSS for this had set the bottom margin for -20, and I found that setting the bottom for -68px gave me the reduced vertical space I wanted. But I can’t figure out how to fix the mobile responsiveness issue when creating the caption via Grid Row.
So here are the two versions:
Special Programs / Alchemy Award
Caption is flush right with the maximum container width.
Caption is done with Color Section / 1-1 column / text box. In the column settings, margin both top and bottom is -50px, padding is zero.
Caption is fully responsive to mobile. The text remains flush right, and the vertical space between the caption and the photo remains the same height.Special Programs / Ghost Light Project
Caption is flush right with the edge of the viewing screen.
Caption is done with Grid Row and a Quick CSS code named fullwidthcaption, margin top: -30px, margin bottom -68px.
Caption is NOT fully responsive in mobile. The text remains flush right, but the vertical space between the caption and the photo gets larger so that it develops a big gap. What I want ideally is the caption flush right with the edge of the viewing screen but no big vertical space between the caption and the photo when viewing in mobile. (If this doesn’t turn out to be possible, at least I have an acceptable nice middle ground with the Color Section / 1-1 column method!)
May 2, 2016 at 9:01 pm in reply to: Modern special heading style looks different depending on whether I'm logged in #626021Sounds plausible! Where do I find/ how do I access the functions.php file? Do I load that code you’ve given me into Quick CSS in General Styling, or somewhere else? (I’m not a web developer; I’m an editor; and I don’t always know where all this stuff is. :-( )
May 2, 2016 at 8:58 pm in reply to: Photos in Grid Row not filling full vertical space despite adequate image size #626019It turns out that the developer who is helping us did a quick-and-dirty fix that hides the border – he created a CSS code that set the color of the border of the grid row to match the color of the footer. But in reality, the border is still there. Just now I deleted that CSS, and now the border is showing again. Since we won’t always be placing photo grid rows just above the footer, I’d rather know how to permanently fix the issue.
April 29, 2016 at 5:07 pm in reply to: Can a text box be stretched full-screen beyond the maximum container width? #624659Sure thing – here’s the site:
The way we want the captions to look is under the hero image on the homepage and says “full width caption test.” The developer who’s helping us achieved this by using Grid Row, 1/2-1/2, with a text box in the right-hand cell. He currently has the row set at no borders, 0px minimum height, and the cells at top alignment, 30px padding all around. I tried resetting the cells’ padding for 0px, but that made the caption text box disappear underneath the photo. With the current settings, there’s too much vertical space between the photo+caption and the “Missouri Arts Council supports the arts” line (which is in a text box within a 1/1 column within a color section). Also, when viewing the page in mobile, a big gap develops between the photo and the caption text. Not good!
We want the vertical spacing between the photo+caption and the heading to look like the Special Programs / Alchemy Award page. I did that caption using by putting a text box inside a 1/1 column inside the color section that contains everything else on the page and setting the column’s top and bottom margins to -50px. Works just great in mobile!
BTW, great theme and support!
