    Hey Mike,
    Thank you. I feel that maybe I am losing it. What you mentioned was the only thing I did not try. Really, it is the first thing to do when experiencing problems like that. Thank you again. As always input from someone else always puts light on the matter.

    Thank you for your response. However, I am not sure if you have understood the severity of this issue. It closed my site for business. I have wasted a week and more chasing and doing troubleshooting with no reward to resolve the situation that was caused by updating your theme with your update and, support was nonexistent. Yes, maybe my error for not testing the update before going live with it would have helped but you feel that wasting my time and money on issues like trying to save my livelihood from going up in smoke may have caused me some troubles. Interesting, response. Makes me wonder what your response would be if this happened to you and if you would brush it off so lightly. But hey like I said people are people.
    If you really feel sad that I am planning to switch to another theme you could do something about it, but you would have to do that right now before it happens. You also know talk is cheap, money buys the whiskey. So I have reactivated login and FTP the same access as before to what you need access too. You can deactivate plugins, you can change the .htaccess and the config.sys as long as you save a backup of every file change you make. If you have not accessed the site within 24 hours of me sending this I will assume its just talk again and access will be removed and everything reverts to plan B.. So you guys bost a great support back and action on your part, well here is a chance to retrieve some of what was lost. Goodluck.

    Ismael, thank you for your response. In regard to your suggestion, my current setting on this issue 1024M and I tested from 64M right up to where it is now. For some reason, I was getting better performance with the 1024M. However, this does not help with the issue which is the one that rendered my website useless.
    Everything is functioning as it should and I really love this theme, except for this one thing. Some of my pages and most of my posts when you go to the link which is how it is saved in permalinks eg. https://www.zipzapmoney.com/blog-news the page opens starts to load as normal and just before the load is complete the link suddenly inherits a further extension to the link. /a2.php and then becomes a 404 page You can see for your self by just clicking the link. As already explained, when I swap out enfold theme the problem goes away. For the life of me, I can not or mostly don’t know how to track this down. This only happened when I updated the enfold theme. Prior to the update, the website was working as it should, in fact, It was behaving better than before, and I was excited to see how it would improve on my campaign. and the paid traffic conversion. Well, that all went south after I updated the theme. Nobody likes to wast there time and money, and I could have saved the lose if there had been a timely constructive response from support instead of the arrogant and unrelated assumptive responses that I did get without investigation. Regarding the access, I disabled the access after 4 days because nothing was being done. The only person it appears, who at least did take a look was Nikko and that was to tell me that my .htaccess was complicated and let me know that Rikard was dealing with it. Which he didn’t or even bother in following up. Of course, you have as well but it is after the horse has already bolted. This has really just left me very disillusioned with why you even offer support in the first place. I have only turned to support with 2 serious problems this one being one of them. Both times I did not get any helpful assistance from support. Anyway, I really don’t want to waste any more time flogging a dead horse. People are people and that you can not change. But I can change to another theme where support is more forthcoming and reliable. Thank you again for consideration and your input anyway. I was hoping to get to solve this and get to the bottom of it, sadly I can see that’s not going to happen. Now I am in the process of pulling the verbiage from my posts and pages so I can at least import them into another theme and get back to where I was 2 weeks ago when this started. Not all is lost, hopefully, some lessons have been learnt or will be, I know for me that I have and it has been a good lesson.

    Hi Ismael,
    Thank you for your response. I have responded to this over here.
    https://kriesi.at/support/topic/when-opening-a-fresh-saved-page-or-opening-existing-pages-goes-to-404/?bbp_reply_to=927058&_wpnonce=3203052098#new-post So that it is all on the same page and might be of use to someone that it might be important too.

    in reply to: JS and CSS unable to optimizated #926068

    I have wrestled with this as well. Although this is not my area of expertise what I did find to improve the page score was to check and change where the css and js were loaded and was it happening above the fold or not. Sometimes it affects the rendering process by delaying page load until the files are processed for above the fold to load. This might be unrelated to your issue, but worth checking into if you haven’t already as it will improve page score. Further, although I do not use the wp rocket, I did have a problem with rocket loader in Cloudflare with this issue until a disabled it.

    Thank you for that valuable information. Let me throw another spanner into the works. I have installed WordPress in this instance re this matter several times, added just about all my files that needed uploading in zip format and individually thinking that might be the issue. Using both FTP and file manager. Never encountered any problems until I use enfold. BTW I did not switch between FTP and file manager during the uploads It was dedicated to each process only. Needless to say, I arrived at the same place with the a2.php being added to the link via the enfold theme. In fact, I do believe at this stage considering the issues I have had and finding the solution to it without the help of support I could get to be a moderator for enfold which would be nice if this problem is resolved. Regarding the PHP Initially, the theme was working great on 5.4 with enfold version 4 upgrades back but when I imported the demo enfold 2017 I had issues with advanced layer slider not working and the sliders. Feedback from support was adamant that my PHP version was incorrect to run the theme even though everything was working fine until I imported the demo on 5.4 Only after trying everything to fix it I disable cloudflare and found that everything worked again. Looking deeper into it I found that it was the Rocket Loader in page rules that I was using cloudflare that was causing it although this did not cause an issue with the previous version of enfold. Removed them then it worked perfectly until the latest update of enfold and now the previous version is doing the same thing. The things that confuse the issue are that it is some of the pages and post that are affected with this a2.php extension that gets added to the permalink to the post or page when you try to access the preview or the saved post or page which goes to 404. This is a little above my pay grade to know how to track this down and unfortunately, I have to rely on support at enfold to help. Waiting for 2 days to get an answer which is not an answer but another question that leads to another day waiting that has turned into a week already and still no closer to solving the problem is extremely frustrating.

    Thank you for your assumption, Nikko. If you actually did look into my .htaccess you will see that I have other .htaccess files there that have been renamed, eg. .htaccess.backorg and .htaccess.plain that were used to test the problem. They are the .htaccess files that are set up when you install WordPress automatically. So thank you for the input and assuming I did not think of that already. The same applies to the config.sys file. I know you defending the theme and so do I but you can’t avoid the facts. There is no time for arrogance here about the theme this is a real problem that is crippling me. So as a suggestion be certain that you have your facts right before you assume as both your self and Rikard are assuming that it is not the theme, but as of yet none of you has been able to identify the problem or have any reasonable explanation to this issue. I have no problem accepting the fact that I might be wrong, or I have done something that caused it. I have been installing WordPress and themes for nearly 10 years now and have never encountered this issue. I know there is always a first time but hey considering all that I have tried to resolve this it is highly unlikely that it is anything else that is causing the issue. I am convinced it is the enfold theme or related enfold theme issue and am waiting somewhat irritated and frustrated with feedback that is happening without proper investigation into the matter before passing opinions. But thanks again for stopping in and at least saying something rather than nothing and showing that you are aware and are looking into it.

    Guenni007, thank you for the comment. Yes, it is the first time I have encountered this type of issue Not sure how it could be related to the domain hosting as you say as it is only the enfold theme that does that. Looking forward to not only getting this costly issue resolved but also learning what actually is causing it to avoid future incidences. However, my wallets running dry and I am frustrated about wasting so much time waiting for support to actually deal with it that my patience might run out and I’ll end up calling it a day to forget.

    Yes I agree with you there is no a2.php in enfold but there is no a2.php on my server either. If it is not a theme issue as you say, then explain why I only encountered this problem when I install the enfold theme, if a swop out the theme back to twenty seventeen the problem goes away. I have also deleted the website and reinstalled the latest updated WordPress and then added enfold and the problem returned. Not once but several times. As you know this is a time-consuming task. A task that I have done several times and chewed up over a week in downtime. You can disable the plugins, uninstall the themes and reinstall them if you think that you can find the problem that way, but I will tell you upfront you will end up where you started. The problem is not found or resolved.

    I have already garn down that road. You will see the problem persists even if you disable the plugins. I have also tried that, in fact, as I have already said I reinstalled the website without adding or installing any plugins and the problem was back as soon as enfold became involved. I have also renamed the plugins folder with no change. I have also uninstalled each plugin one by one until there were no plugins installed and the problem still remained. You unable to start a new post or page or even view the page in preview or after it is saved without this dreaded a2.php being added to the links by the enfold theme and going to a 404. Yet as soon as I swap out the theme to any of the free themes the problem is not there. With twenty-seventeen you can create a post, view it in the preview, save it and open the page without any problems. As soon as you revert back to enfold the problem is back. I have been wasting my time troubleshooting this. My download records show that I downloaded a fresh copy of the enfold theme and the child-theme 9 times already. I have used three different FTP programs thinking that issue might be file manager in Cpanel or one of the FTP programs. I have tried with and without the child-theme and I still returned to the same issue. Everything points back to the theme. So you have access now, do what you think will solve or find the problem and prove to me it is not the theme. OH Yes please don’t take your time about it as this problem is burning up costs whilst this issue persists. I really hope you are able to get to the solution to this because I love the theme. The unfortunate thing is if you can’t solve it I will have to ask for a refund to buy another theme that is not an enfold theme, rebuild my entire website rewriting all my material from scratch because everything is written in the Avia layout builder. If that turns out that way I will certainly be very cheesed off and I will write a long and negative review of this bad and costly experience with your theme. So be a hero and sort this out as quick as possible. I have also disabled cloudflare so you can’t blame that. I have also tested different PHP versions from 5.4 that I was using when it worked to PHP 7.1 currently is set to ea-php70 still no change. Some pages and pages work. Check it out https://www.zipzapmoney.com/steps-for-success/ click why you waiting and it will take you to https://www.zipzapmoney.com/lost-money-story/ scroll down and the menu will appear on the top. All those pages work except Blog-News. I can edit and change the page & post that are working but that’s it nothing else.
    Good luck.

    Please, Rikard, will you attend this ASAP I am running up costs waiting for you or support to sort the problem that enfold theme is causing on the website.

    Is it possible to put a rush on this issue as my site has been non-functional for more than a week because of this?

    Sorry me bad.
    Details updated.

    Victoria,
    Thank you for your response. However, I do believe that method for solution, in this case, is not the rabbit hole worth going down.
    Just changing the PHP irrespective of version will yield no results and a long way round to finding the solution.

    What did show some results was to introduce this script into functions.php in the child-theme using the current version of PHP 5.4 as seen here Demo Enfold2017
    This resolved some of the issues of the animation text and the sliders in the demo Enfold 2017 but not demo Coming Soon, including animated numbers, nothing displays as seen here Demo Coming Soon
    Unfortunately adding this in the child theme introduced a new issue that images in the Media Library don’t show in grid view but do in list view. This prevents control over images in sliders in the backend for pages or posts. So it solved half the problem but still leaving this unresolved and not a workable solution.
    Script:
    `function modify_jquery() {
    if (!is_admin()) {
    wp_deregister_script(‘jquery’);
    wp_register_script(‘jquery’, ‘https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.11.3.min.js’);
    wp_enqueue_script(‘jquery’);
    }
    }`

    In fact it also worked by just adding ?> ; instead off the above.

    Considering this I would imagine the issue is related to an internal script conflict.
    Finding that and resolving this would go a long way to keeping the site lean as possible.
    So I remain seeking a tested solutions rather than suggestions to expedite this…
