    Hi Rikard,

    Thanks you for your help. That fixed the problem.

    What’s strange is when you go to these videos in YouTube and click Share, here is what I get: https://www.youtube.com/[VIDEO_ID] The extra parameters that you suggested: watch?v= are not present. How would I know to include these parameters?

    Thank you so much!!!

    Mike,
    THANK YOU for re-adding the code!

    Here is my experience from my iPhone using Google Chrome, Safari & DuckDuckGo:

    1. Here is where it starts. I click on the Play Button. Note: As you can see, the Play Button is not red.

    ABBB3E89-139D-4BC3-BD39-0D36F6225E44.md.jpg

    2. After clicking the Play Button, it acts like it wants to play, but then returns to the Play Button, which is red – see next image.

    1CAB18D5-2837-4614-822A-C51BBE295DF6.md.jpg

    3. After the two steps above occur, then I have a red Play Button and the video plays inline.

    Is there a way to correct this. My sincere apologies for this long thread. I guess I’m just getting nervous with the site launching tomorrow.

    Thanks for ALL your HELP!!!

    Mike,

    Thank you for your help. The test video appeared to work on my iPhone.

    Please see details below in PRIVATE.

    We are launching our site on Monday, Mar14th. We could not have come this far without the Enfold theme and the outstanding support by the Kriesi Team. Thank you all for all your efforts, patience and guidance.

    Hey Mike,

    Yes, I’m testing this from my iPhone.

    Here is how I start, but I need to click the play button twice for it to start playing. No idea why?

    FA43EFCA-5B99-4468-A39F-9A084D48A702.md.png

    When it starts playing, it opens this other window/video player. I have to click the “X” in the upper left hand corner to exit this window/video player – extra clicks

    04A750DE-9892-4C6B-A0BC-503E0BE46756.md.png

    After clicking the “X” I come back to this

    706941AE-43FB-4511-8CAA-B22D2A840606.md.png

    Is there a way to correct this, so I don’t have the extra clicks?

    I would only want this for two pages. Thanks for your offer to correct it. Can you do this on the test page and I apply it to the other 2 pages? Im still trying to figure out how to identify the most recent video on my Playlist. When I schedule from Private to Public with a newer date, it’s not automatically showing up at the top of my Playlist.

    Greatly appreciate your help and the amazing help of this group.

    Mike,
    Thank you for this code!

    If I decided to hide the Relevant Videos, do I do that from the plug-in or within CSS code?

    Also, when I play this video, from my smartphone, it launches another player window that requires more clicks. Is there a way to mimic this experience:
    https://renner.org/videos/how-to-share-your-peace/?

    FYI – this doesn’t happen from PC/laptop.

    Hi Mike,

    Thank you for your response. Yes, the only issue now is that the next video plays automatically and I don’t want this?

    I “think” I’ve disabled any auto continuous play setting, but maybe I’m overlooking it.

    Here is a link to my test page: https://kingdomlearners.com/youtube-embed-plus-test-page/ I also provided my credentials below.

    I have the plugin-in working as Contained Playlist at the top of my test page, which displays one video and after this video plays, the next ordered video in the Playlist starts, etc. However, the second test on this page I have a Gallery from the Playlist. The top video is the most recent. When it plays, at the end it stops and displays other relevant videos. If I could keep this and remove the other videos, this would be perfect. I think this is what @guenni007 was eluding to, but just not clear to me on how to implement it (e.g. “All these thumbs are in a unique container ( class: epyt-gallery-list ) if you set this to display none – you will have on top the newest video link.”)

    “you see that there is on top the last added video and beneath the thumbnails of the older videolinks in that playlist” and “All these thumbs are in a unique container ( class: epyt-gallery-list ) if you set this to display none – you will have on top the newest video link.”

    Thank you and others @guenni007 for your help.

    @Guenni007
    THANK YOU so much for your CONTINUED SUPPORT and WILLINGNESS to HELP ME!!!

    I have Embed Plus setup with a YouTube API v3. I’m not sure I totally follow “you see that there is on top the last added video and beneath the thumbnails of the older videolinks in that playlist” and “All these thumbs are in a unique container ( class: epyt-gallery-list ) if you set this to display none – you will have on top the newest video link.

    Can you show me in the plug-in with a screenshot and explain a little further – please. This is new to me and I’m trying to follow along. THANK YOU!!!

    I’ve created a test page: https://kingdomlearners.com/youtube-embed-plus-test-page/ and it plays, but the problem is that once the latest video plays, it continues into the next Daily Word video from the Playlist, etc. etc. I’m pretty sure it’s because I didn’t fully understand your generous instructions.

    Any and all assistance is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

    Best Regards,
    Julio

    in reply to: How to custom sort & display YouTube videos daily #1344038

    @guenni007, I followed up with Embed Plus. Retrieving the latest single video from a Playlist is not currently a feature that Embed Plus provides. Thank you for the suggestion.

    Enfold Support & others,
    Could I use a permanent link to retrieve the most recent YouTube video from my Playlist, something like this:

    <div class="youtube-video-container">
    <iframe
      width="560"
      height="315"
      src="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list= PLI1Ahx4x_H5fqrB6XB4pkeqyo2qsJnDus&playnext=1&index=1"
      frameborder="0"
      allow="accelerometer; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture"
      allowfullscreen
    ></iframe>
    </div>

    I tried it but nothing showed up in the page. Any ideas of what I’m missing or another way to do this?

    The next challenge is to ensure when I schedule the availability of my daily videos (i.e. schedule the date and move from Private to Public) that the YouTube video moves to the top of my Playlist. If I sort the Playlist by “Date Published (Newest)”, should the new published video move to the top of the list where the permanent link mentioned above would display it.

    Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Best Regards,
    Julio

    in reply to: How to custom sort & display YouTube videos daily #1343879

    @Guenni007, thank you for your response and suggestion.

    Maybe I’m over complicating this…sorry.

    Let me try a simpler approach . . .

    I’ve preloaded 70+ videos to my Playlist and labeled them as Private. My goal is to show the “Date Published (Newest)” video daily (i.e. 1 video per day, the newest). When I schedule the video from Private to a desired date, it picks up that date as the Published Date, which is what I need. However, within my Playlist I have it sorted by “Date Published (Newest)”, but the newest doesn’t appear to go to top without me manually re-sorting the Playlist.

    Two questions:

    1. Is there a way within YouTube to automatically move the newest scheduled video (Private to Public) to the top of the list without my manual intervention (i.e. manually re-sorting the Playlist – “Date Published (Newest)”?

    2. Here is the embedded iFrame code that I’m using. Is there anything within my code that could help correct this?

    <div class="youtube-video-container">
    <iframe
      width="560"
      height="315"
      src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/?listType=playlist&list=PLI1Ahx4x_H5fqrB6XB4pkeqyo2qsJnDus"
      frameborder="0"
      allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture"
      allowfullscreen
    ></iframe>
    </div>

    UPDATE:
    I just realize this iFrame URL pulls all videos from my Playlist; they just play one after another. How can I only point it to the most recent video in the Playlist?

    Hope this makes more sense and is less complicated. Thank you for your patience and support!!!

    Yes, but no change. I did some additional searching on this topic and came across this post in the forum – https://kriesi.at/support/topic/responsive-content-images-retina-screens/

    After implementing the suggested change and testing after clearing cache & tested via incognito with no change. I reenabled lazy loading. That’s why you may be seeing the srcset.

    I have been using the Smush plug-in to compress images for awhile now.

    Hi Ismael,

    Yes the image for About us is larger on a desktop, but not from a mobile phone – see mobile screenshot below. I believe you will notice the Contact Us image is larger than About on mobile.

    Thank you for providing a screenshot, but it doesn’t display.

    Can you help me understand why the About image is smaller on a mobile footprint? Thank you.

    Best Regards,
    Julio

    Thanks for your response, Ismael.

    Yes, I made the image on the About page larger (1920 x 850px) after I made this post. However, even with making it larger or keeping it at 1920 x 700, the About image is still displaying at a smaller size than the Contact Us page on a mobile phone.

    Would love to understand why. Thank you

    Hi Rikard,

    Thank you for your response. What I discovered (always learning) is that when I went to: Dashboard > Settings > Reading, my Homepage was displayed as “Your latest post” vs. “A static page”. Once I corrected this setting, it established my homepage properly. The URL ending with /home was there because it was set as a post, which creates a Slug URL. Hope this helps others.

    Thanks again for your continued support and guidance. You can close this topic.

    Mike,

    Thanks for the suggestion on addressing this issue and your responses to my other questions.

    I was able to fix this issue by going to the bottom of the Homepage (see image below) and once I added the Featured Image here the correct image was displayed as I shared the Homepage link. Hope this helps others using Enfold & SEO Yoast plug-in.

    in reply to: How to automatically add date for a page post? #1338973

    Mike,
    I created a category under Daily Word –> Faith. I created a Post and Categorized it as “Daily Word” and “Faith” (see link below). Next I created a Post “Daily Word – By Topic” with images for different categories. Please only click on the first image for testing “Faith”. In these scenarios, the Post displays an image, but it’s the “Featured Image” I added for that particular post, which is a general image for Daily Word overall. I was hoping, The “God is Our Provider” image would appear.

    I’ve created another Post, added the Masonry Element; selecting the “Category” – “Daily Word” only. I added Featured Images on two of the three Posts and that’s all that displays (see link below). When you’re adding the Masonry Element, does it matter if it is a Post or Page?

    So I was hoping the test Post below would show the 3 images to these respective posts. However, what I see is two of the Featured Images and nothing on the third Post. Just curious, do I have to add the appropriate image for each Daily Word Post as Featured Image or is there another way to accomplish this?

    I’m reading through all your wonderful guidance you provided above, but I feel I’m missing something on my end. Just not clear to me why the appropriate Daily Word thumbnails are not displayed.

    Your guidance AGAIN would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I’m getting much closer.

    UPDATE: I reread your guidance above and you did mention adding Featured Images, so I did it. Check it out in the links below please and let me know if I’m missing anything that I should include.

    You mention that I could create a “year” category so I could have a “Daily Word By Years” element in the future. How exactly do you create a YEAR Category, and have a post where visitors can select which Year they would like to see?

    Thank you.

    in reply to: How to automatically add date for a page post? #1338927

    Mike,

    Glad to hear that I can use the Advanced Layout Builder. Thanks for the reminder about excluding the date.

    On the other site is a page with a grid of 6 categories ▸ that link to a “category page” ▸ that then links to the individual posts.

    Yes, this is the outcome I would like to achieve.

    Sorry for the confusion. I just got excited and realized that by using Categories (i.e. Overall or Daily Word in my example, which would be applied to ALL Daily Word posts), the Posts, and the Masonry Element I’m thinking (maybe incorrectly) that I could easily create the Daily Word – ALL page as well. Didn’t mean to side track us…just got excited.

    Once we get the categories and workflow finalized (thanks to your awesome help), I would like to get back to should we use Blog Posts or Masonry Element to choose which categories to display and add date – PLEASE

    4. When I’m creating a Daily Word post, how should I add a date where the “Year” can be used to create a Post similar to displaying a Daily Word category (i.e. Family)? Should this be another Category or is there another way to achieve this?

    This is secondary, but wanted to make sure I was explaining it properly. See the link below and scroll down towards the bottom of the page: “Storied By Years”, at some point in the future I would like to provide this functionality. If there’s a setting / category I need to add now for each Post, I want to make sure I include it.

    Thank you.

    Best Regards,
    Julio

    in reply to: How to automatically add date for a page post? #1338775

    Hey Mike,

    “Thanks for the feedback, I would recommend using posts instead of pages, and I would recommend using the Classic Editor for these posts instead of the Advanced Layout Builder”

    Is using the Classic Editor mandatory for creating Posts? I try using the Classic Editor, but I’m not familiar with it, so it slows things way down. But if it’s needed, I will figure it out. Was just hoping I could use the Advanced Layout Builder instead. I just want to be able to create the same design that I’m currently using for Daily Word pages – see link below. Also, I noticed that with using a Post, it doesn’t appear that I can “Create a Template” like I can with pages. Is this true or am I missing something (most likely).

    Just want to confirm, I understand the Category creation process. Here is my novice understanding:
    1. You mention adding a Category for “Overall”.

    2. Can I take this approach? Open a new POST, Add a New Category: Family (following your suggestion for this example). Can I make the Parent Category: “Daily Word” (vs. Overall)? That way, all “Daily Word” Posts will use that as it’s Parent Category.

    3. For my “Daily Word – ALL” page (see link below), which I’ll convert to a Post of course, I’m assuming I can add the Masonry Element on this Post and display ALL of Daily Word with Pagination included.

    4. When I’m creating a Daily Word post, how should I add a date where the “Year” can be used to create a Post similar to displaying a Daily Word category (i.e. Family)? Should this be another Category or is there another way to achieve this?

    5. I created a Post with “Daily Word” as Parent Category and applied a Subcategory “Faith”. See link to Post below. Can I avoid including “February 3, 2022/in Daily Word, Faith / by Julio”? Also, this particular format is a little different that the page I shared below. Also, I noticed that it includes a “Share this Entry” at the bottom. Is this something I can disable if I desire?

    [SORRY FOR ALL THE QUESTIONS]

    Am I thinking about this correctly? Hope I’m making sense here. Let me know if you need any additional information or screenshots. Just want to ensure I’m off in the right direction before applying too much effort.

    Thank you so much for walking me through this process. I will gladly share my learning’s and outcome for others in hopes that it can help them.

    Best Regards,
    Julio

    in reply to: How to automatically add date for a page post? #1338577

    Mike, thanks for this very helpful guidance. I will definitely try this out on some test “posts” to see how it works. So glad to have this knowledge now before I got too far down the road.

    Can you please point me to a resource on how to add Categories / Tags and how to create a Post and pull in content related to these Categories / Tags.

    Here is an example of what I’m hoping to achieve:
    https://www.iamsecond.com/film/
    Scroll down to “Stories By Topics”

    I’m assuming I would create the thumbnails with the respective Topics, but when you click on any of the Topics the Post that would appear would just pull from the respective Topic. As for example, if you click on the “Identity” Topic, the thumbnails would be pulled in. Is this what you meant when you reference the use of the Masonry Element?

    Thanks again for ALL your help, guide and instructions.

    Best Regards,

    @Mike, your detailed, informational, educational and helpful responses never cease to amaze me. Your continued support is greatly appreciated!

    As a novice to WordPress/Enfold, I must admit, I assumed that Posts were only used for Blogs :( I guess I should research a little more on when to use Pages vs. Posts :)

    Not sure which approach to take yet. We’ll be adding a new “Daily Word” each day, which includes an image with a link to a separate page. Eventually, there will be 365 in a year. As we add more images (i.e. thumbnails to videos), eventually I would like to categorize/tag (?) these with dates so visitors can eventually filter/select videos by Date (i.e. Year), along with other categories/tags (?); Topics (i.e. Faith, Hope, etc. etc.).

    With this in mind, how would you suggest that I accomplish this? I would like to build this in upfront to prevent rework.

    Thanks again for ALL your help!!!

    Best Regards,
    Julio

    in reply to: Get Latest Video in YouTube Playlist #1338263

    @ismael & @guenni007 I cannot thank you enough for sharing your insights and assistance for my request.

    I will definitely look into both approaches.

    Fact or Fiction? I have other WordPress users tell me not to use too many plugins because they can conflict with one another and your site, etc. Now, I don’t have enough experience/knowledge on this to share my opinion. When should you use Plug-Ins vs coding (PHP, JavaScript, etc.)? Thoughts?

    Thank you again for your help. I’m learning so very much…thanks to this forum and the Enfold Template.

    Best Regards,
    Julio
