Hey!

You can try it without losing anything:

1. Rename your current version of Enfold to something like enfold_old.
2. Upload the child theme (with functions.php and style.css modified).
3. Download and upload the latest version of Enfold with the folder name of enfold.

This way if things go wrong, you can simply switch between your old modified version of Enfold and the latest one, renaming it.

3. You’ll probably get some other folders alongside with the actual theme (documentation, etc), the folder you need to upload is the one named ‘enfold’, and the destination would be in the /wp-content/themes folder of your WordPress installation.

Maybe there is a URL conflict between that Author page with a Page/Post, you can discard this by changing the Permalink option to the default non-pretty one.
