Let us close this. I was hoping for a shortcut, but am able to continue this way.
Thanks!Thanks.
Thanks for the quick response!
I already knew how to do that, but I had read on another forum post that the shortcodes were available somewhere without doing that.Thank you! That is exactly what the client wanted. This client is a 3rd-generation family owned restaurant with a local reputation of being old-fashioned (think 1950s). They are currently performing a “hand-off” to the next generational owner. Their original site was very static, very intentionally “old” looking and they were somewhat afraid to venture too far from that. They didn’t even want the slider to… you know, slide.
I agree with your assessment of the end result. I wanted to show it here as an example of exactly how far you can go to meet your client’s wishes using Enfold. Working closely with the both the new owner and his father, I was able to translate their compromises onto the screen in a way that satisfied them both, as well as leaving options open for future expansions such as ecommerce without a major rebuild.
This client is extremely satisfied with their site. All their customer feedback has been positive. The site has brought me two new clients who referenced that site. In the end, these are the best measures of success in my world.
the problem i think is in my child-theme. not certain why, but now i can edit and save in Enfold not using the child theme. if i move the few lines of css over to Enfold using the Quick CSS I think this will be fine. just to verify: Quick CSS is preserved when we update theme files?
For everyone else googling and finding this post: Try stripping the installation down to just Enfold, without a child theme, and see if you can save your edits. If so, the problem might be in your child theme files somewhere.
My plan is to try to finish the site using only the Quick CSS for the few tweaks I need to make. I’ll post back here with results, or further documentation of my problem if it persists. (Pretty sure this is a problem in my child theme files, though.)
See? You guys are so good you telepathically sent me in the correct direction in search of a solution! I remain a loyal fan.
[edit: still working great. you guys can consider this thread solved and close it out if you want to. thanks for Enfold. since starting to use it a couple years ago my job is so much easier and i end up with a superior site. thanks for that. -jonm]

sorry guys, i checked with Short Sugars and discovered they have limited access to the site from overseas. If you’re in the US you should be able to see it.if not, i took screenshots of the homepage, directions page, and blog page which are linked below. Full width slider above is not shown. Neither are the videos below. The small boxes right and left rotate recent blog posts by category. again, sorry about the confusion.

just checked it and it shows up in my firefox and chrome. the mobile site is not done with enfold, as they wanted an “app” appearance for mobile. on mobile you will never see the enfold site, even if you click “classic” link at the bottom of the page (which btw thank you for reminding me i need to eliminate that link). i should have been more specific, sorry.
This client wanted something truly unique for their upgraded site.

I have to say, I enjoyed this one. -
