Still doesn’t work with single quotes. I also removed any quotes, i.e. [the_ad id=13590], and it all still gets stripped out.
(NB. The shortcode inserts an ‘ad’, in this case a company logo. Shortcodes work on posts. I’ve added the shortcode as the first line of text under the main photo on this post, http://dev.henleyherald.com/2017/07/06/lorries-causing-more-problems-on-henley-bridge/, and you can see the image/ad inserted. So I think this problem is to do with ALB.)
I tried a few things. There’s a PHP version to insert the ad. I don’t think Code Block supports PHP but I wanted to see the outcome.
Code block altered to
<?php the_ad(13590); ?>
renders as HTML:<div class="avia_codeblock " itemprop="text"> <!--?php the_ad(13590); ?--> </div>and no image/ad displayed.
If I revert to the shortcode and change the square brackets to round e.g. (the_ad id=”13590″), then that is displayed as text on screen.
HTML:<div class="avia_codeblock " itemprop="text"> (the_ad id="13590") </div>Given the shortcode is being stripped out whether with single, double or no quotes on square brackets, but is not stripped out with round brackets, whichever code module processes Code Block is finding the square bracket and stripping out everything between the open and closing square brackets.
Can you stop this happening?
For your information, we are planning to improve combo widget and bring it back in one of the updates, most probably upcoming one :)

The Request Feature button on the Feature Request page does not work. Click it and nothing happens. Tried it in Chrome, Firefox and Edge. Can you look into this?
re. hiding images based on categories: nothing so simple… :-)
I’d like to be able to turn off the Preview Images on any specific instance of Blog Posts on a page.
On the home page I have a heading ‘Business’ and Blog Posts is used to highlight the latest 2 posts of the Business category. I do not want Preview Images, so I set a Custom CSS class on that Blog Posts element of “home-business” and then use “.home-business .slide-image { display: none; }” to turn off the images (but the images are still loaded, which is what I want to stop – and there are 8 Blog Posts elements on the page, only 2 of which I want Preview Images to show on, so I’m loading, but not showing, 12 images I don’t need).
But on the separate Business page I use Blog Posts to display every single post in the Business category, and here I do want the Preview Images to show. So you can’t use categories to turn off Preview Images unless you can target a specific page.

Doesn’t work: tried it on the dev/test site: http://dev.henleyherald.com – various Blog Posts on the home page e.g. under Business, Schools, Sport headings.I disabled file merging and compression, cleared cache.
That aside, I’m guessing your code is attempting to remove all Preview Images site-wide wherever Blog Posts is used. That’s not really what I want – I’d like to be able to target specific instances of Blog Posts on certain pages. For instance this page – http://dev.henleyherald.com/news/ – uses Blog Posts and I’d still want to have the Preview Images display on that. Is this possible?
PS. The best way would be for a new option on Preview Image Size of “Don’t load a preview image” – where can I log a new feature request? I thought there used to be a thread somewhere but can’t find it.

Warning has not happened in the last 3 days since I first posted so not sure if you’ll be able to find anything.
Added you as a user per private data.As I said, I hadn’t changed the home page at all for 6 days since the post on May 8. Simply made the change on May 14 to “Load only used elements” – and the home page then displayed correctly.
I’ve done what you suggested above and after a page update get the message – “No errors were detected parsing the shortcodes.” Refresh of the home page and it still shows OK.
I’m not sure how we can progress this anymore as the problem has gone away. I’ve just updated the site to 4.3.2 via manual FTP and everything is OK. I can only assume that, whilst the site doesn’t use a caching plugin, maybe the hosting provider had somehow kept or not deleted some theme files immediately when I updated as this file duplication seems to be what you point at as causing this issue, and that eventually the files did get removed and the problem ‘fixed itself’.
Happy to try something else if you think it will help but without having the problem manifest itself again or be re-creatable, I think we’re stuck.

I didn’t see Kriesi’s explanation – where is that please? I can’t see anything in the changelog.
And are there any implications / potential problems with re-including the combo widget?
Site has been running 7.1 for the past few months, certainly over the past 2 weeks when the warnings happened.
Sorry for the delay but I have been away for most of last week.
Has someone changed or fixed something on http://www.jacksgallery.co.uk? Because I’ve just altered Disable Template Builder Elements to “Load only used elements” – and now the home page displays correctly. I have not altered anything on that website since my post #953358, 6 days ago (as mentioned, I have been away and not worked on this issue until today).
What’s changed? Why is this now working?

In case anyone has forgotten, this post shows how the Combo Widget should display.
In fact adding @Ismael’s latest code suggestion displays the widget twice for some reason. See here.
Can you please just ask the developers to reinstate the Combo Widget in the upcoming 4.4 release, so that it works as it used to?
And no-one has explained why it was removed in the first place… :-(
@Ismael – please review the previous posts in this thread. The site with the problem now is different to my first post. Your suggestion about having 2 enfold directories solved the problem on https://www.americanroadtrips.net. The continuation of this issue is now with another domain, http://www.jacksgallery.co.uk. There are 2 sites, www and dev, of this as well. The www site is set to “Always load all elements”. If you login (details provided earlier) and alter it to “Load only used elements” and refresh the home page you will see that the Headline Rotator and Easy Slider are no longer displayed. This is the problem.
Please note the request above that this is a live e-commerce site and if you make the change to Disable Template Builder Elements to see the problem PLEASE alter the setting back as soon as possible so that the home page displays correctly.

I updated the theme via Updates, not via FTP. I have checked the directories you reference and there are no duplicated files.
For some reason the dev site is now working. However the www version still has the problem. I’ve created a user for you to login and check this. Site is running 4.3.1.

This problem has not been fixed in 4.3.1 – I’ve just upgraded 3 sites and the issue is still there on all of them.
@Ismael – I cannot upgrade one other site to 4.3.1 because of the problems caused by 4.3 removing the Combo Widget, which have not been resolved so far by your suggestions in this thread: – https://kriesi.at/support/topic/v-4-3-removed-deprecated-avia-combo-widget/I have deactivated the Autoptimize plugin that caches, and disabled the compression in Enfold > Performance, plus left all of the other elements in Performance ‘off’.
Makes no difference. The Combo Widget still doesn’t display as it did in 4.2.6 and before. I also tried deactivating all plugins to see if there was a conflict somewhere, but again no difference.
Why has this not been fixed in 4.3.1? There is no mention of it in the Changelog.
@Ismael – I’ve just updated another 2 client sites (www and dev versions) to Enfold 4.3 and set both to “Load only used elements”.
Headline Rotator and Easy Slider are no longer displayed on both. Both sites only have an enfold and enfold-child directory in wp-content\themes (plus twentyfifteen).
Both sites are HTTP, not HTTPS. I’ve left the dev site home page showing the ‘missing’ elements. Site address in private. I’ve had to switch the www site back to load all elements.
That appears to be the problem. Having deleted the enfold-old directory, the “only used elements” function now works. Thanks.
Yes, it is now active – but it’s behaviour has changed. It’s no longer displayed as tabs in 4.3.
Look at the combo widget on this post. This is Enfold 4.2.6.
Now look at the widget on 4.3: this post.
Check the code in Chrome Dev Tools. After <section id=”avia_combo_widget-3″… there is a <div class=-“tabcontainer border_tabs top_tab tab_initial_open tab_initial_open__1″ on both, but then 4.3 is missing the next <div class=”tab_titles”> that is in 4.2.6. I guess this is what makes it display as tabs?
How can I get 4.3 to display as it did in 4.2.6?
And what have the devs said about why they removed it? Can’t we just have it back as it was?
@Victoria – the dev site on normal HTTP is OK. It is the www site on HTTPS that has the problem but you need to login and change the Performance setting from its current setting of “Always load all elements” to “Load only used elements” then refresh / clear cache the home page. The www site is set to “Always load all elements” because it is a ‘live’ site – so please alter the Performance setting back as quickly as you can after viewing the problem.

On the www site, change Enfold > Performance > Disable Template Builder Elements to “Load only used elements”, refresh the home page and the Special Heading and Easy Slider are gone. Change it back to load all elements, refresh, elements re-appear.
The dev site is currently set to “Load only used elements” and the elements display correctly.
In private content. It’s a test site so do what you want but be aware that when I upload the code to functions.php and the 500 error occurs, it locks you out of the WP admin portal as well. So I’ve provided the FTP details as well. Please note the root directory comments. Please don’t alter the “proper” www site.
Copied from the forum originally, not email. Just tried it again, same result.
I use Dreamweaver for code edits and this shows up any syntax errors, but there aren’t any. Went thru code a character at a time and checked no hidden characters. I even tried copying the code block into a text editor, then into Dreamweaver, again just in case there were any hidden characters, but no change. Code block still kills the site.

Remove the code, site works again.
If I disable the Debugger that Screen Option goes away.
That’s not the issue.
If there is a Screen Option to switch the Enfold Shortcode Parser on or off, which there is, then it should work. It does not work.
If I ‘switch off’ Yoast SEO then that box no longer appears on a Page.
If I switch off the Parser, the box is still displayed. If I then look at another page, the tick in Screen Options has been re-applied by Enfold. It’s a bug.
