Ahh! I was looking inside of Mailchimp itself, I didn’t realize that there was also an option in the widget itself.

The opt-in and associated reCAPTCHA option are both switched off, i already reported this as the problem
The email received is a confirmation email for the sign upThis is the response from Mailchimp:
“Opt-in settings only apply to signup forms created in Mailchimp. If you are using a third party signup form app or integration, this will set its own opt-in rules and will ignore the opt-in setting of your audience.
We recommend checking with the developers of that app, plugin or extension to see if they offer the option to alter the signup form’s opt-in setting. Alternatively, you can look into using a Mailchimp form.”This would explain why the Opt-In email setting is getting ignored. Looks like the theme integration has this switched on?

Signing up the same email twice is not the issue,
The current status is that a sign-up confirmation email is being sent even though that option is switched off in the campaign settings.and, just as i post this, I see the a confirmation email arrive in the inbox, lol. For some reason this took several hours
But, this should not be the case as the confirmation email option is offHello,
It looks like it is partially working. Using the Mailchimp settings for “Enable double Opt-in” (default) it all looks to work. I get the emails, subscribe, email address is added to the MailChimp audience. But I decided I did not want that option and unchecked it. Thereafter, there’s no confirmation email and the email address is not added to the Mailchimp “Audience” list. BUT, if I try to sign up with the same email address again, there’s an error message that “This email address is already subscribed, thank you!”
I’ve opened a support case with Mailchimp to see if the issue is on their side.thanks,

OK, looking better.
I am able to preview the signup form now…doing some testing my signup email addresses are not add to the mailchimp list – is this because I am in preview mode?thanks,

I’m having the same issue
Everything looks fine on the Theme Newsletter Option – The API Key is verified and my Mailchimp list is displayed.
Adding the widget, my list is displayed and I can selected it.
But there’s nothing added to the web site at all. I confirmed this by adding a text box below the widget and that is displayed
