Exact same problem here
I need to upgrade WordPress to 5.x, Im currently running 4.9.10. I have to upgrade my PHP, MySQL and Apache also, and of course Enfold from 4.1 to 4.5.6
I decided to update Enfold first. Then I was going to upgrade the server, and lastly WordPress. I made it as far as enfold 4.5.6, and the main section of the homepage which is WP Layer Slider is completely missing.
Help!
Recap:
Currently Enfold 4.5.6 installed on WP 4.9.10, running PHP 5.3.8, layerslider does not render on page. This fixed the issue of not being able to edit and save for me:
Go to Users > Your Profile, and uncheck the box “disable the visual editor when writing”
August 18, 2017 at 5:16 am in reply to: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '');' (T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE) #840731Fixed, examined source file to server file, somehow corrupted. Uploaded again FTP, all is good.
Thanks Basilis!
It’s working perfectly! This is exactly what we need :)
It doesn’t say on that link where that snippet should be placed? And also in the snippet it says: add_theme_support(‘avia_template_builder_custom_tab_toogle_id’);
is it really “toogle_id”, or “toggle_id”?
Thanks as always for your help Yigit!
Thanks for the quick reply.
Nice article, I’m well aware of Google’s move to avoid link bombs and reducing the weight for anchor text in the algorithm. But I think most would agree not all of the ingredients in the secret sauce are disclosed, and it makes sense to optimize anything you can.If someone is promoting a link to the tab element on my home page, there is no doubt in my mind that abc.com#keyword-relevant-text is going to be more effective in telling Google what the content is about (ex. LSI) than abc.com#tab-id-1. The same holds true for internal linking.
Also, real good SEO is not just for bots, but people also. The click probability for a readable URL that describes the content is much better than not, hence the widespread use of pretty links etc.
I’ll go ahead and make a feature request anyways. I hope you will consider it.
Update!
This fixed the issue of not being able to edit and save:
Go to Users > Your Profile, and uncheck the box “disable the visual editor when writing”
I’d still call this a bug. But at least we can get some work done.
We are the same problem. I opened a thread yesterday reporting edits using the avia form builder are not saving, now I have just learned it is the same problem when trying to add a text box!
Please check it out. My credentials below
Wordpress 4.7.2 | Enfold 4.0.1 with child
To reproduce, go the the About US page, edit and try inserting a text box over the headline Abramson, Brown & Dugan is New Hampshire’s premier medical malpractice law firm
You will get this far, but cannot save or cancel out of operation:

FWIW, 4.0.1 scans perfectly on Wordfence for me.
February 17, 2017 at 10:49 pm in reply to: Is Enfold 3.8.4 compatible with LayerSlider WP 6.1.6? #748684I can’t tell what welcome news that is Yigit!
Thank you so much for getting back to me! Hooray!February 13, 2017 at 10:24 pm in reply to: Is Enfold 3.8.4 compatible with LayerSlider WP 6.1.6? #746655Thanks for the reply Rikard.
Can you give me an estimate when this new version is expected?I heard mention on another thread that it would be soon.
The problem I’m having with the old LayerSlider version is it’s inability to scale down for smaller screen resolutions without clipping the image, using the full screen layout. The picture needs to scale from 1920 width to 1024 without truncating the image. Unfortunately version 6 does this, but version 5 does not. I’m supposed to launch the site March 1, so of course need layerslider 6 functionality by then, or a new solution.February 11, 2017 at 1:33 am in reply to: Is Enfold 3.8.4 compatible with LayerSlider WP 6.1.6? #745667Update,
It is not compatible :(I switched to the WP 2017 default theme, and uploaded layer slider WP to the plugin folder and the dashboard is working.
Any idea when you guys will have a release to fix this? I need the new features in LS WP 6 so reinstalling v5 is not an option for me.
February 2, 2017 at 8:46 pm in reply to: What is the procedure for upgrading WP Layer Slider? #742019I think Im all set then, thanks Yigit.
To spell it out for others who might have this question in the future:
To upgrade to a new layer slider version, you typically will need to upgrade Enfold to it’s latest version. Sometimes you might have to wait for the next Enfold version upgrade, if you find after upgrading Enfold the layer slider is still out of date.June 15, 2016 at 10:55 pm in reply to: Cannot add "full size Image" SOUNDS SIMPLE, BUT IT'S NOT – please look #648890You can close this thread.
FYI, if anyone else encounters this problem, check with the server admin. In our case, they have decided to host the install on a Windows server.June 14, 2016 at 9:13 pm in reply to: Cannot add "full size Image" SOUNDS SIMPLE, BUT IT'S NOT – please look #648263I had placed that there with advice here on the forums. I just removed that section from functions.php but still no luck. I can select any of the sizes, but full size does not work, all other sizes do.
As a workaround I decided to try placing an easy slider media element, but this also does not render as visible on the live page.
What else can I try?

Thanks for the reply. We can upload images. The problem is we can’t choose “full size”, only the smaller sizes.May 2, 2016 at 8:42 pm in reply to: Team Member Element – Correct Image Size Will Not Insert #626011The Quick CSS did the trick, thanks Yigit

April 28, 2016 at 9:27 pm in reply to: Team Member Element – Correct Image Size Will Not Insert #624004Thanks! The image uploads, in fact we have 3 versions uploaded. The link to uploads below is 600×400, but you will see, we cannot select that option when inserting into the team page.
How about the Quick CSS settings, where are they saved?
Hi Vinnie, thanks for getting back to me.
1. Yes, exactly, Quick CSS info was lost.
2. Yes
3. We did not try exporting the theme options. I had recommended using the clone/migrate UpdraftPlus tool, however the IT team chose to leave the installation as it is, and use DNS IP settings to point the new domain to the folder. They manually changed URL’s in the database. What we ended up with was a huge mess with the portfolio elements we built, as well the lost css modifications in the Quick CSS section.Since this fiasco, they have rolled back to backups and everything is restored now. However their IT team provided that old link to us yesterday, citing the problems in it as the cause of the problems.
So I guess my questions are
1. Where are the Quick CSS settings stored, in case we have this problem again
2. Are there any known issues with the current/latest Enfold theme version 3.4.6 during migration to new domains? We will be using Updraft plus migration tool for the next attempt. Thanks for you support and great theme. We love Enfold.
we have restored everything from backups, but there is concern the Enfold theme was the problem. Can anyone confirm that the buggy problems in the thread below have been addressed? We are going to try migrating the installation using UpdraftPlus’s migration tool.

Yes! That did the trick. Thanks for your help!
It’s still not working. Very strange, such a simple element. Thanks for your help!
Thanks Yigit, but it does not work?
December 10, 2015 at 8:10 pm in reply to: After updating to 3.4.6 All layer sliders disappeared from public side #550669Resolved:
I am a bit confused but in the case somebody else has the same problem here is how I fixed it:
What happened: I deleted the enfold parent theme first, and then uploaded the latest build 3.4.6 in order to resolve the Portfolio editor missing the category selector bug. That worked fine, but all of my sliders disappeared from public view, just a blank white space for a moment, and then it would collapse.Fix:
I downloaded the latest version of LayerSlider and followed installation instructions, and using wordpress admin uploaded the installable zip to the plugins folder and presto. Why I am confused is I didn’t touch the plugins folder, only changes were made to the enfold theme folder (deleting old and installing new).Update: I found that I had another enfold theme folder nested in the enfold theme, so I deleted both, and then uploaded the 3.4.6
I can confirm 3.4.6 shows under theme option update, and the missing category selector on the Portfolio settings is visible again. But……
Now on the public side, every LayerSlider I had is gone. Strange thing is, I can see the slider and avia code in the page edit side of things. How can I get the layer sliders back to show on the page?

Here is the functions.php file in my child folder:

You can also copy some of the theme functions into this file. * WordPress will use those functions instead of the original functions then. */ //set builder mode to debug add_action('avia_builder_mode', "builder_set_debug"); function builder_set_debug() { return "debug"; } /** Added for pageslider code changes */ add_filter('avia_load_shortcodes', 'avia_include_shortcode_template', 15, 1); function avia_include_shortcode_template($paths) { $template_url = get_stylesheet_directory(); array_unshift($paths, $template_url.'/shortcodes/'); return $paths; } /** * Popup Elements * * If this function is defined in a child class the element automatically gets an edit button, that, when pressed * opens a modal window that allows to edit the element properties * * @return void */ function popup_elements() { $this->elements = array( array( "name" => __("Which Entries?", 'avia_framework' ), "desc" => __("Select which entries should be displayed by selecting a taxonomy", 'avia_framework' ), "id" => "link", "fetchTMPL" => true, "type" => "linkpicker", "subtype" => array( __('Display Entries from:', 'avia_framework' )=>'taxonomy'), "multiple" => 6, "std" => "category" ), array( "name" => __("Columns", 'avia_framework' ), "desc" => __("How many columns should be displayed?", 'avia_framework' ), "id" => "columns", "type" => "select", "std" => "3", "subtype" => array( __('1 Columns', 'avia_framework' )=>'1', __('2 Columns', 'avia_framework' )=>'2', __('3 Columns', 'avia_framework' )=>'3', __('4 Columns', 'avia_framework' )=>'4', __('5 Columns', 'avia_framework' )=>'5', )), array( "name" => __("Entry Number", 'avia_framework' ), "desc" => __("How many items should be displayed?", 'avia_framework' ), "id" => "items", "type" => "select", "std" => "9", "subtype" => AviaHtmlHelper::number_array(1,100,1, array('All'=>'-1'))), array( "name" => __("Offset Number", 'avia_framework' ), "desc" => __("The offset determines where the query begins pulling posts. I also logged in from another browser (Chrome) that I NEVER use for WordPress, and have the same problems, so it appears to have nothing to do with caching.
I have uploaded 3.4.6 again but no change/fix:
1. Portfolio settings still no category selection possible
2. Edit to grid layout changes category selection
3. Portfolio images still clipped in the top, with extra space at the bottom
4. After uploading new enfold folder (version text confirms I downloaded 3.4.6), theme shows as 3.4.5 in the child theme update screenPlease help
