I wasn’t able to wait for a response so I found an alternate solution. I will no longer use the Enfold dropcaps shortcode because:
– It does not degrade gracefully (both code and first letter of the paragraph are stripped when displayed in shortcode excerpts, search and archive pages).
– It’s extra work to insert this in every post.Instead I’m moving to a CSS snipet to create an automatic dropcap on every post.
– This degrades gracefully in all excerpts (only the HTML/CSS formatting is stripped, not the letter).
– Less work/automatic.The only Cons I can see are:
– If have a post or two where I need the first letter to NOT be auto-dropcapped.
– I now have to go and remove all dropcap shortcodes from my existing posts. :/I thought I’d share this for anyone else who runs into this issue. Consider not using the dropcaps shortcode if you want the first letter of your post or page to not be stripped in excerpts (which are often used on Archive and Search Results pages); or if you use Enfold shortcodes that display excerpts. You might instead consider using a CSS trick to apply dropcaps site-wide and avoid this issue (adjusting the CSS below to target elements appropriately for your desired result):
/*-- auto-dropcap the first paragraph element of entry-content in standard editor --*/ .entry-content > p:nth-of-type(1):first-letter { display: block; float: left; font-size: 38px; line-height: 32px; margin: 4px 8px 0 0; }
April 5, 2016 at 2:25 am in reply to: Dropcaps visible in Magazine element and other shortcodes #607994Notes:
– All plugins are currently disabled.– I tried adding the following to my child-theme functions: add_filter( ‘the_excerpt’, ‘do_shortcode’, 11 ); No joy
– I have disabled my child-theme and gone back to the primary (non-modified) Enfold theme.
– I’m on the current version of WordPress (4.2.2)
– I’m on the most current version of Enfold (3.5.1)
– I tried removing all CSS in the admin panel CSS field – no change so I put my CSS backExamining the code in Firefox or Chrome shows the shortcode and it’s contents (dropcap/character) are completely stripped/filtered off in the rendered code when the element is inspected.
– I am not using custom excerpts of any kind, I’m allowing the magazine element to create the excerpt.

Glad it worked well :)
November 28, 2014 at 5:20 am in reply to: Responsive Issues for screens smaller than 13' and larger than mobile #359395Have you tried activating menu adjustment for both smartphones and tablets?
Enfold > Header > Mobile Menu > Activate for smartphones and tablets
This adapts to smaller devices, but overlap depends on how many menu items you have and how wide you made your logo. You might still need a minor css tweak if both were created wide. :)Would adding this instead accomplish what you wanted? (I’m not sure if that targets exactly what you wanted or not).
#top #wrap_all .social_bookmarks {
color:#000!important;
}You’re welcome ;-)
Hey!
You might try updating Enfold to the latest version 3.0.4 to solve this issue caused by a small bug between enfold and wordpress 4.0.1 automatic update – http://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/updating-your-theme-files/
November 21, 2014 at 2:23 am in reply to: Image hotspot stacked on top of each other after 4.1 update #354816Yep, thanks it’s working fine now after the second update. :)
Thanks Kriesi, that did the trick. :)
@Pixallus I’m thinking I’m going to disable WP auto-updates on all of my sites so I can plan updates/upgrades in a time-managed fashion next time. This might work better for you too if you have that many sites on the go? I find this happens with all kinds of themes and the new auto-update ‘feature.’I second that. Thanks and great support :)
Yep hehehehe
I’ve received one email from theme forest (you have to opt into these emails) and I believe they are waiting on Theme Forest to release a second newer update. They may still be working on a few things… Also in terms of the blame game, stuff happens. It’s likely somebody found a security hole or tried to hack something, WP had to rush out an update. When WP rushes out an update, Enfold makers have to rush out an update… it all rolls down hill. It’s inconvenient but life’s like that. I find overloading myself with caffeine, finding humor, and helping each other out helps me cope ;) ;)
They are waiting on Theme Forest to release the second update today, just need to be patient :)
You guys are awesome! Thanks :)
Thanks Guenni :)
Reading through the forums it looks like WP has pushed an auto update (4.1) that was not released in beta for developers to test against the theme. It has caused a number of unexpected issues. Looks like there’s already a new theme version release in response and it looks like they are diligently working on any additional problems. : )

https://kriesi.at/support/topic/important-information-wordpress-4-0-1-update/Hi Chartreader, a quick search of the forums shows that it is likely due to the auto-update. You might try reading this post.
They pushed out the theme update just now in response to WP auto-updating WordPress to 4.1. There was no beta released for the authors to test, so they had no idea it would cause issues. Looks like they attended to it as quickly as they were able ;)
Try double-checking your coordinates/address again and make sure they are still there. Sometimes I’ve noticed these getting wiped out. Not sure why.
November 21, 2014 at 12:23 am in reply to: Image hotspot stacked on top of each other after 4.1 update #354683Looks like there’s been a fix released I’ll give it a try and see if everything works again :)
There was an auto update to WordPress 4.1 issued today. As they didn’t release a beta version for the theme makers to test, it created some unexpected issues. There’s been a fix released and possibly another one to come.

I am temporarily using this plugin. Seems to work and style well. There was no beta of this update released from WP for the theme authors to test things, they are quickly working on a fix.
November 21, 2014 at 12:10 am in reply to: Fullscreen slider or Contact Form 7 NOT working. Support needed. #354659The contact form issue was the only issue on one of my sites so I am temporarily using this plugin. Seems to work and style well. If I had more issues, I’d roll back. There was no beta of this update released from WP for the theme authors to test things, they are quickly working on a fix.
November 21, 2014 at 12:09 am in reply to: Contact Forms Disappeared with WP update to 4.0.1 #354656As I mentioned above, It’s a temporary problem that will be fixed shortly with a patch. If you read the link I provided above you’ll see they are already working on it. For the time being, if you can’t be without a contact form for a day, you might try using the plugin I linked to above.
