March 20, 2015 at 3:18 pm in reply to: LayerSlider Shortcode not working – was working until I added another shortcode #415296
Sorry. I have numerous sites. Which one are we referring to here?
Devin, now I am completely confused. As you know, I have given several support people admin access. My WordFence plug-in tells me when they have logged in. No one has ever got back to me with any issues they discovered or what they did to solve them, yet this morning my sliders are back to being responsive, like magic.
Someone found something but it appears they want to keep it a secret. Is this because everyone was blaming me for the issue?
As to a refund, Envato is not going to compensate me for the many hours I have invested in creating the sliders, but I have no need for a refund if the theme works as billed.
It was only an observation or possible cause. I haven’t removed the potentially offending code because I was told to add it. My concern was why I needed to add it after the update of the theme.
Well, I’m convinced now that the custom CSS I was told to add is the root of the problem. I went into the slider and edited everyone of the images to resize them and now they’re all fine. I’m thinking I should remove that CSS code because I believe what it did was set all images at 100%, which is wrong and appears to have overridden the individual image settings in “style” on the slider.
Thanks, Kriesi. I’m baffled, but pleasantly so. Now out of the blue my home page slider is perfect again in both Chrome and Firefox; however, others are not.
If you look at the slider for “Consultants” it looks to me like the image parameters are being completely ignored, possible as a result of the custom CSS code I was told to add maybe. The green “thumbs up” buttons are supposed to be 80px X 80px, but they are instead full-size. On the last slide there is a sign-up button on the last layer that doesn’t come in at all.

How do I include a screenshot? I’ve tried everything. Just getting more and more frustrated. I don’t understand why someone there isn’t just logging in to see this mess? I’ve already added two users and I asked you for an email address to add you as well.
My website and my business are both on hold here. It’s very annoying when you keep saying it’s only me. That solves nothing and just serves to make me angry. The ONLY thing I did was update the theme because I got the prompt to do so. Suddenly getting code in the middle of a slide tells dumb old me that someone did something to screw it up. George just keeps telling me it’s not him, which also does me no good.
Can I send you a screenshot of the Enfold theme slider? It’s now got the same mysterious code in the middle of it after the “update”.
Wow! It’s a real mess now. What I can’t understand for the life of me is that this was all fine until the latest update of the theme. If I create the LayerSlider and use the “Enter Preview” and it looks perfect based on my settings, why would it get completely messed up in any size other than full-width? That makes no sense what-so-ever. How ever would you design a slider? If I look at every other slider I’ve spent hours creating they are all completely messed up now. What a waste of time! I had a perfectly good website, but it wasn’t the now popular flat design, so I’ve invested in the theme and spent months redesigning it, only to now learn that it was all a complete waste of time. I can’t understand why there isn’t a GIANT disclaimer on your theme page stating that the oh so featured LayerSlider is completely useless with this theme.
George tells me that he did nothing and he has no clue why these things are happening to the LayerSlider. The issue with what you are suggesting about editing is impossible because the dimensions are correct and always have been. The issues of the background image, font and size all only showed up after updating the theme.
Josue is a user on the site. Kriesi has asked for credentials. If you want me to add you please send me an email showing the address I need to use for your password to be sent to you.
This is all delaying my much needed launch of the site. It’s far too late to start over with a new theme, not to mention the hours and hours that have been invested in the Enfold theme so far.
lol Gave me a chuckle this morning with “rip us apart”. That thought has crossed my mind several times over the last few days. It appears I am the only one suffering these issues, so I feel so “special”. NOT!
Yes, Josue is a user on the site and my WordFence tells me he has logged in several times over the last few days, but I haven’t had any response from him on the issues. If you want to be added please give me an email address to add you.
The basic problem here is that I can’t edit a LayerSlider that looks perfect in preview and always has. What changes could I make if the slider looks perfect and nothing has changed except the Enfold version? I can only assume that the custom CSS I was given, code that was not necessary before, is messing things up. If you look at that slide six I gave you the link for there is suddenly some weird code in the slide. I am not capable of figuring out where this code is coming from because I don’t know what code was changed, nor am I am programmer anyway.
Obviously this is all delaying my urgent launch of my website. Hours and hours have been invested in designing my site for both flat and responsive design, plus the featured sliders. I cannot go back to square one by using a different theme so it’s really critical that we sort out these issues.
I appreciate your help.
Now I just previewed the slider for “Consultants” and all the images are screwed up. Whatever changes you made with 3.9 please undo them or allow us to rollback to the preview version.
This is very time-consuming and frustrating. Don’t you check an update before you release it?

I don’t think this is relevant at all, but I noticed this line in your “update” file –
get_template_directory_uri()
I assume it should read get_template_directory_url()
It look like the update made a number of changes dated June 17th, which is when the problems started I think.
Even more problems. Login and go to this slider, slide number 6
I have no idea what the heck this is. I’m too frustrated to start any more work until these issues are solved. I am out for a few hours, so do whatever you need to.
I have no problem with you logging in and trying whatever you like. The issue is that none of this was a problem until the update of the theme, so I am not sure why you are looking elsewhere, but go for it.
I was just about to start creating another slider so if you can let me know when you want to work on it I will logout.
The slider in question is the one at the top of my home page. When I look at the preview it is still perfect, but on the actual site it is a disaster. There is something very wrong with the code because, for example, the height of the text area and the background image are identical, but on the site the background image is short. In the preview the text font and position are perfect, yet, again, on the site they are not. It is impossible to edit something you cannot see.
You have login credentials. Look at the preview and you will see it is perfect, as it always was until this update of the theme.
There was an update notice on Enfold to upgrade to, I think 3.9? That appears to be what’s causing all the grief. After the “upgrade” my LayerSliders were virtually destroyed. There was some text, but no images. It was a mess. Someone sent me custom CSS about images and, although I questioned why I didn’t need it before, I added it anyway. The LayerSliders now had images again but now my slider at the top of my homepage is all screwed up. The image height is wrong. The font is wrong. The text placement is wrong. All this and I didn’t tough a thing.
Do you have any suggestions on how I am to correct the top slider on the homepage? In the LayerSlider Preview it is fine, as it always was until this latest update on the theme.
Once I added the custom CSS you gave me the LayerSlider is now fine except the full-width issue. The issue now is on my front page with the background images and font and text placement. I didn’t touch anything other than adding on the code that fixed the slider.
Sorry, Josue. I’m either confused or just plain stupid. When I set you up a user account your username was Josue and your password was sent to you by the site. I don’t believe I ever saw it and I can’t see it now, even as an admin. Just let me know what you want me to do.
I have no idea what that means. I am dealing with support about issues relating to migrating to the new Enfold version, which I thought was the topic here. Am I missing something?
Checking a number of things this morning and it looks like whatever changes were made in the new Enfold version are resulting in a lot of issues with the LayerSlider. On that first slider I had the height set at 500px, the exact height of the image and everything was fine. I set the font at 22px and it lined up perfectly on the background images. It still looks like that in the LayerSlider preview. Nothing has changed; however, when you load the page the background images are all too short and the text size has been increased and the position changed as well.
Not knowing what changes were made I went in to adjust some of the settings and it’s even worse. I deleted the width and height in the slider settings and turned the full-width on. This worked fine before but now the slider is simply gone! No idea why. I checked the source code and there is no code for the slider.
Josue has already been set up as a user with admin privileges. Does he not remember his password? I can’t see it, of course.
Didn’t touch a thing. I was about to build another slider when I noticed the ones I had weren’t working.
“How was it before” How was what before? If you mean the images at the top of the home page, the images were properly aligned and the font fit in the background and the “Learn More” was right at the bottom of the background image.
Thanks! That fixed the LayerSlider but now the home page is all screwed up. Everything changed – the background, font and placement.
I did create a user for you before and the password was emailed to you so I don’t know what it was.
I just upgrade the Enfold theme today and now, even though the LayerSlider still shows perfectly in the “preview” it is trashed on the site. Almost no images come into any slide. This is a disaster! Both LayerSliders are completely dysfunctional.

Thanks for the suggestions. Although I agree that it’s important to have professional looking forms I do think this is possible developing my own forms. What I have now is the basics and I will be working on the styling when I’m done. I think it will look just as good as some of the sponsored forms I found online, and they were all absurdly expensive. Mine will be free forever.
This online form is unique in that it is an intake profile of our candidates and is designed to provide the interviewer with as much insight as possible before designing a career path. It is also only the first in a series of reviews in subsequent years to analyze the changes with experience. At least that’s the plan.
Now I’m really confused. I didn’t link to any site. My website is using the Enfold theme. My question was about how to style form input fields, but in the meantime I did figure out how to do it by adding .input_right to the form.css file. Worked perfectly.
Not sure what you mean by referring me to that site. My CSS viewer shows the fields as <INPUT> with associated styling like field width and so on. Are you saying that this styling is not coming from the Enfold theme and, if so, where is it?
Thank you, kind sir.
Finally got it! The problem was, when I looked at the CSS, the menu section is 96px high, so entering a negative top margin for the player made it part of the menu and that’s why the links. I moved it to the left under the logo, which is actually better because the menu drop downs would have been on top of the player on the right side. It works fine in Chrome and Firefox now and, like many people, I don’t give a rat’s you know what whether it works in IE. Most things don’t.
