1. No, there is not a better way, that one is actually the best option to do it.

2. Yes, you can use a method like is_blog(); and load with condition the content, based on that.
You will need some php code to achive it, let us know when you have moved forward wit it and we will be more than happy to help you further.

That is not a conflict and as it seems to be more of an issue with the pagination that WordPress is having.

Please go to the theme Options Panel and Import any demo you want.
That way, you will do se those pages.

Shortcodes are controlled either from TinyMCE or from the Advanced Layour Builder ( which has a drag and drop system to help you build better and faster ).
