  • in reply to: PROBLEM IN UPDATING ENFOLD 4.4.1TO 4.5 VERSION #1026257

My issue is that I get this message “Download failed. A valid URL was not provided.”…something I have never seen before. Have not had problems in the past with updates. Does anyone know why this happens?

Thank you Günter for the information. I deactivated the plugin you suggested and indeed, the titles on the accordion reappeared. In random checking of the site, I do not see any ill effects at the moment, so I will leave that one off.

In the process of working with you and my hosting company to achieve this “fix” it has come to my attention that your themes are only be supported for 3 years. Is there a seamless way to transition to another theme of similar qualities without having to rebuild the whole site into a new theme? I was under the impression that when I purchased this theme that there would be ongoing support and no time limit was mentioned or is that just the Php side of things?

Also, with the information you left regarding some loading errors, is that connected to accorion and fixed by the deactivation of Lightbox, or is this representing another problem? Can you give more information on what I should do with those. Thanks!

Thank you for your communications & patience. Below in private content are the credentials requested.

MY CHECK OF THE AFFECT OF PLUGINS ON THE ACCORDION BOX AT THE AFFECTED SITE: So, today I did an Enfold update on my other wordpress site (annmwolf.org) and the process I used to do the update was the following (as recommended by my technical support advisor from my hosting company) :

1.) Before begining the update, I “deactivated” the Enfold theme & activated another WP Stock theme for the few mintues time of the update. I then, performed the update to the Enfold theme and then immediately reactived the Enfold theme (deactivating the temporary theme). The technical support agent at my hosting company advised me to do all updates this way to themes and plugins to avoid problems with trying to do updates to an element in use during the update process. After doing this update on annwolfmusic.org, I looked at some of the accordion boxes and the ones I insprected so far seem to be working well.

2.) Then I had the technical support agent at my hosting company compare plugins for the messageofthelighthouse.org (where the problem is) to annwolfmusic.org and all plugins being used are identical, so this might mean that the plugins are not the cause of the corruption to the accordion boxes at the messageofthelighthouse.org site.

I look forward to hearing from you as to what you find. Thanks again. Ann

ADDITIONAL QUESTION: For the theme Enfold, what PHP settings does the server require? For example memory_limit. I am looking to improve loading time on both sites.

OK, so you are saying that this is an isolated case? And you have already checked the code on the last update for the accordion feature?

If so, then it could be something at my site or hosting, but my other concern is that a person from your team earlier talked about disabling plug ins and I wanted to know more about that and for how long the site could be down from doing that.

Before you log in to look at the admin area of my website, I need to know more about whether or not you can first investigate the differences in your own code regarding the accordion from the last update that might have affected this module. Could you run a comparison between the first to last update and last update in code for the accordion.

The reason I am asking this is that I have made no changes before or after your update as far as adding or subtracting plugins and have the same plugins running as I have for quite some time. Other updates in the past have not created a problem. The only difference is the latest update, so investigating my back door may not produce what you need.

Second, I want to know more about the “disabling of all plugins” which Vinay in an above message suggested he would do. I believe all of you are excellent at your work, but I am concerned about other problems that may be generated from disabling my plugins.

    Thanks. Ann

Although I appreciate the offer to help me by looking in the admin area of my site, I would need to know more about what the affects would be to my website if you disabled all my plugins as suggested above.

Instead…would it be possible for you to try some other things first such as to check into the new code (for the accordion) that came with your latest update since it is only after this latest update that I see the problem?

You see, I built the accordion areas quite a while ago and they have carried through all of your updates with no ill effects for a long time. Now after this last update, the accordion is corrupted in that what I see in the admin area is still good as I built it, but what comes through to what others see is missing information in the title area. When a visitor clicks on the title area, the rest opens up ok, so it is just the titles that are irregular. I tried to build a new accordion and the same thing happened, so there is something different about what came with the latest update.

So, can you look first in what was sent through in the last update and perhaps it can be fixed with your next update for everyone. Thanks. Ann

I am not certain what the issue is with my credentials, but I will look into that and get back to you. As for the screen shot, yes, that is the problem with the accordion at my site. In the admin area you will see a full title for each of those lines and no numbers; and on that page that is visible to the public, you see titles on some lines and then only a number on other lines. So the titles are disappearing even though they remain in the admin area. Also, I tried to make another accordion box and start fresh, and if it had worked, I could have deleted the deffective one, but the new box had the same problem so I deleted it.

OK, so I will try and send something here as well as in the private box and see if that works. Thanks!

Dear Victoria; I do not know what to do next because I have absolutely placed all the requested information into the Private Content Box (below) two times now and yet for some reason it is not getting to you. Do you have another method? I am using Chrome by the way.

Also, I have looked at the two images you sent just now of my message, August 29, 2018 at 6:03 pm #1003228. (I assume you wanted to show me what you received) and those are 2 pictures of the same message which I had placed in the regular public communication boxes in the message thread above just to let you know that I already just sent the requested information in the private content box earlier, so you could look for it.

So, just to be clear, I sent the requested information in the Private Content Box today for the second time and then after I submitted that to you, I sent a second message to advise you to look for my message from the Private Content area and my second message is that which you sent me an image of. Is it possible that you just have not found what I sent via the Private content box yet? Please advise. Thanks you.

Dear Rikard; Thank you for your response. I did place the requested information into the private content area yesterday, but I did so again at your request today. I hope it works this time. Please confirm if you have located it. Thanks.

I have sent the information requested in order to examine what may have caused the disappearing titles on the accordion boxes at my site. This first happened after the last update which I had only accepted for on of my two wordpress sites and both use Enfold: http://www.messageofthelighthouse.org.

I would like to have this issue resolved before accepting the update at my second site because I have used the accordion box quite frequently there as well and do not want to have to reconstruct all those areas. Thank you! : http://www.annwolfmusic.org

I have had to compensate on a few pages by removing the titles from the accordion and creating titles and links in a text box which I placed just above the accordion box. But there are many “messy” places on my website now where the accordion has been compromised and if you can restore this, I will not have to rebuild so many places and I will be able to go on to get the update for my second website as well. Thanks.

Do you need just username and password to the admin area?

Here is a link to see what has happened to my pages where I have used an accordion box since the last update. In this page, scroll to the accordion box and there should be a title for each line in the box. In the back admin area, I still see a tiltle for each line, but on the page that the public sees, some of the titles have disappeared. I have cleared history, cache, etc. and I have even tried to rebuild the lines and they still do not show. I have not changed anything for the pages where this has taken place. Click to see example.

    How would I do that?

I just uploaded to my WP site, the enfold theme. I am now getting a message that my sliders don’t work unless I buy separately from Code Canyon. I thought the sliders came with it; but I am now seeing where I can enable them. Please advise.
