Mike and I had a very long thread where he worked on the video bug that returned with 4.2.4. I thought we had solved it, but now I see on my staging site that Youtube videos posted using the ALB video element now just show a line of error instead of the video code.
This happened last time we tried to fix the video bug in the thread below from last month:

CSS Code added to fix the video bug on 4.2.4:
    .mejs-container { max-height: 100% !important;}

Login credentials are still the same as in the private content of my now closed thread:

    Thank you

    Hey Rob,

Issue seems to be related to “?rel=0” and removing it displays. Have you tried using a plugin such as this one instead – https://wordpress.org/plugins/hide-youtube-related-videos/?

    Best regards,
    Yigit

    Hi Yigit,

Why doesn’t this problem occur in 4.2.3? As you can see from my link, the rel=0, which prevents “related videos” from being shown when the user hits pause, does not cause a problem on the same page running Enfold 4.2.4. Instead of adding yet another plugin, I would like to be able use Enfold’s video element and not have to go back and change pages that were already built and working fine.

Can you find out what changed here between 4.2.3 and 4.2.4 and correct it that way instead? :)

    Thanks!
    Best,
    Rob

PS I did try that plugin, and it does indeed prevent related videos from being shown, but this plugin hasn’t been updated in more than a year and I am concerned that it’s just one more plugin to cause conflicts and slow the site down. The first thing you guys ask us to do when there’s an issue with our sites is to disable the plugins… and there’s a good reason for that. As you know, the more plugins the more potential for conflicts.

It should not be necessary when an update rolls out on Enfold for us to install plugins to maintain basic video functionality. I really hope you can find out what changed between 4.2.3 and 4.2.4 and make sure that 4.2.5 corrects this….

    Hi,

I applied a workaround on your staging site and will discuss this further with our devs. Please review your website

    Hi Yigit!

Thanks very much…. but NOW THE VIDEO IS UPSIDE DOWN??????

OK just joking! :) I can’t figure out what you did but it looks like a different URL and is specific to that page since the videos on other pages are still broken.

At this point I’m going to just forget 4.2.4 ever existed, leave 4.2.3 on my production site, and wait with hope on 4.2.5 that it introduces new features without breaking current features of the theme. I see no reason to worry about 4.2.4 since it doesn’t add anything I can notice to the user experience.

Just paid to extend my support another 6 months with you guys… I’ve now spent more on support than I ever did on the theme! ha ha

    Hi,

Got me very confused for a second there :)
I forgot to mention, please add Youtube links without “&rel=0”. Related videos should be disabled by default after the change i applied on your staging site.

    Cheers!

OK thanks… so does that mean we will need to apply it to production once 4.2.5 rolls out next week? I don’t see it in quick css… is it in functions.php or did you somehow sneak that plugin in there?? (ha ha ha!)

    Hi,

No, no it is in enfold/js/avia.js file :) Please wait for 4.2.5 to update your production site.

    Cheers!
