My site is slow and has poor ratings see below . o/100 on google page insights for a desktop.
I have been working my way through over several month – several of plugins for caching and minifying and each one breaks the site:(.

    they include:
    better wordpress minify
    WP Super Cache
    W3 Total Cache
    jetpack

Word Fence cache does not break but offer very poor result still and the Google insights state css and are not compressed.

Nothing works, nothing will minify css without breaking the theme or the cache.

I know the images still need optimising and am using the free allowance of a couple of plugins including smush to remove meta – data – so please ignore the image issue for now.
I have of course tried deactivating and deleting all installed plugins and adding them back one by one but the caching plugins when turned on just break the theme.

Can you help? Add login below.

    Hi sandboxes,

I think if you fix the images the score will rise quite dramatically, could you maybe start off there? I tried logging in with the details you posted but they are not working, could you check please?

    Best regards,

With respect, I said ignore or set aside the optimisation image, for now, I will fix that in due course. I know exactly what impact that will have on the site as the Google insight page check does an exact break down of each feature that is slowing the site. See link.

Please answer the questions as to why the site breaks with all cache and minify plugins – when all plugins are disabled.

I think it is not really that great that there is still no clear info in minify and cache for enfold theme that actually works- when it the theme has been in development this long.

have update UN and PW see below and check that it works.

    Hi,

To be honest this is the first i’m seeing something like this. The site may be breaking when you activate the minification because the css file path may not be correctly recognised. Please uninstall all the caching and security related plugins completely and re-install them.

    Best regards,
    Vinay

Well it might be the first time you have seen this but if you look through the forum this is a long standing problem going back years which has never been address. There are no recommended and working plugins cache and minifyin the recomended plugins thread and there shoud be of course.

I have already done that. several times.
Please login and look at it and provide an answer to problem than possible ideas. I have already informed you at support told you that I have still had problems when I deactivated all the plugins so it s not a plugin issue its a is a site issue as other users have noted.

So is there going to be a fix for this problem?

    #640071

    Hi,

This is not a theme issue but a conflict between W3 Total cache minifying functionality issue and your server permissions, you’ll get the same result with any other theme activated. Try contacting your provider regarding this issue:

Minify Auto does not work properly. Try using Minify Manual instead or try another Minify cache method. You can also try a lower filename length value manually on settings page by checking "Disable the Minify Auto automatic filename test"

Hi Please tell Kresi I want to complain. You left my site with another theme active – which is not enfold and it broke the site and left it a mess. I left the site working and with enfold even if slow. I

Now people from all over the world at this international festival of music tech think my site is rubbish and broken and the theme is no good.

Why have you not given me examples of the settings to change and which file name to chnage and an example?

This is what people used to do at the start of WordPress i.e. be proactive and helpful. This seems now as support – do as little as possible and make the client spend hours following up emails is requests for more information. It annoying. I am at an international Music Tech Festival in Euriope and people ask em about the theme what can I say to them?

I manage the server -what permissions do I need to change? Where? Please explain what the permissions are and if this is the case and I can change them.

I tried both auto and manual already and they did not work either way.

I have already tired other Minify cache methods – better wp minify – the one Kresi used at one time and it did not work

There is the same problem with the theme and other cache and minify plugins but not with Wordfence. I this is a serve issue why does that not break the theme?

Please explain which file name I need to change an example of what it needs to change to.

what is the best cache plugin and theme plugin.

    Hi,

I want to let you know that we are committed to provide a satisfactory solution to all our users. However somethings are out of our control. Our intention was not to make you spend time trying to resolve this but we had to try out a few troubleshooting steps without which there is no way to figure out what is causing the issue.

We do not have access to your server settings so we cannot tell for sure what settings you need to change as josue mentioned please get in touch with the hosting company and let them know about this issue. Try to get any error logs from the server which may throw some light what is causing this issue.

Each site is configured differently and uses different server settings due to which what might work best for one site may not give you the same results. Check out our recommended plugin list and give it a try.

    Best regards,
    Vinay

I am in the hosting company!

You left my site broke with the default theme installed !

    Tried the recommended plugin list

    Did not work

How DO I complain or do you fob everyone off like this all the time?

    #640224

    Hi,

We are totally committed and we work hard to resolve any issue that comes up related to our themes.

As mentioned earlier switching themes is part of troubleshooting steps and it will not break anything. It’s possible that someone was still working on your site when you check it out. I hope you understand that we are all trying to help you out! but somethings are out of our control and this is not a theme issue. Enfold works great on thousands of sites without a problem while using caching plugins. As mentioned earlier please check your server settings and error logs to see what is blocking access to the minified files.

    Best regards,
    Vinay

    Hi,

The problem is minified files can not be accessed, for example this one:

    http://sandboxeducation.co.uk/wp-content/cache/minify/000000/fY9BDgIxCEUvNJVxYTxPC8xI0hYDHUdvb2uM0Y0r-J8XPszAddFMgFoXWcOuiloKGzJ89aEoTSeg6BfppB-K1K4j9RpStJc-jiUtYguLWglnkIp5I3ZAd_D2yOwdYneuTWIOqwnBdUtZEGJ325vk1qSugzW-eRZi-4_tarRw7TePAWpWS3qf5s9z3R1hv06Kzk8.css

You’ll get a Forbidden error, that means the file may exists but it can not be accessed, what you need to do is check the permissions of that file or its parent folder (they must be 644 so they can be read when the site loads).

    Best regards,
    Josue
